Just finished the demo. Graphics-wise I think the game is great, but my only real concerns are the controls and the perspective. Both stem from a similar issue in the game: digging in.
Since digging in is the main "feature" of the Killzone series in the FPS world, their ability to use it carries significantly more weight than in most other games, and that's where I think it falls behind. Digging in using a first-person perspective sucks. I could play it as a normal run-and-gun FPS, but when the game is built around digging in for cover, that rarely works well even on the easiest difficulty and takes away from the intended experience.
Throughout the entire demo, I was wishing I could change the game to a third-person perspective like in gears of war, or that when I dug-in it would go to a third person perspective like in Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. When I was dug-in, I couldn't see a damn thing, meaning I'd have to peek out, while getting hit, just to have some idea where to aim.
This brings me to my second complaint about the game: the controls. In order to shoot, while aiming and dug-in, it required me to use 4 buttons/sticks. L2 to dig in, Left stick to "peek out," R3 to toggle aiming mode, Right stick to aim, and finally R1 to fire. That's way too busy. The dig-in should be a toggle like the aim is(or make it a setting like the aim is).
The demo was OK for me. If the controls weren't so busy, and they went to a third-person perspective for digging in, or all the time, I'd enjoy it much more. I don't plan on buying the game anytime soon, but I might grab it in a bargain bin.
