Kingdom Hearts

ahh, from what i read a while back, they were saying it was going to be live battle, and basicly the other members of your party were going to be COM and such. So basicly all you control is main character. I need to read up more about it. I'll do that when I get done with Static tonight.

You can control the other chars, or you can customize them with gambits, which isn't your typical AI, gambits are programmable, like a lower form of C++. Like HP<50%, Member1 Cure, Member1's MP<50%, use item{Ether}, and so on.

heh, sounds like "Basic" programing, or Turbo Pascal, but that at least gives you some control.

Plus you'll be swapping gambits quite a bit for characters. It's a shame didn't get to see gambits in action in the demo. But you can still control the characters even if you don't use gambits, personally 1 playthru I'll be using wait mode, and not using gambits(controlling the chars) and the other time I playthru I'll use active mode and make good use of gambits to control my 2 other pt members.

nah, once i beat the game, i checked the guide for what i was missing.
It has sora's max level listed as 84 lol

well its not. my friends lvl 99 ; ; thats the max

lol I beat the game at level 46. Being level 99 must make things way too easy.

yeh u can still fight seph.
And there will be a KH3, they have talks of an extensive series for KH as extensive as FF. Because it doesnt always have to be disney! Two worlds are colliding together. who's to say that those are the only two worlds bided by the keyholes?
Thats my theory tho, They said they plan on making it as long as an FF series but will eventually run out of disney worlds. so i theorize that it comes from some other world besides disney in the future.

But then i thought about how many more disney places they could go...

Pfft, there's hundreds of Disney movies out there, I'm sure they can't really run out of that many Disney stuff if you go back to the history of Disney movies, but for the more known ones, then perhaps.. I'd love for KH to continue just as long as FF.

good luck playing it without any gambits <.<; its a real pain in the ass to play without any gambits equipped what-so-ever T.T

Heh yes, which is why I'm planning on doing that in wait mode, and use gambits for when I play it in active.

Two nations at war? /yawn

Mercenary school? Yeah, filled with pussies like Squall and Zell.

Magic Spells? Magic was f'ing useless in FF8 other than Aura and to a lesser extent Full-Life and Meltdown. Even Meltdown became worthless once you get Doomtrain.

Summons? Yeah, just like 7 of the other FF games... IMO FF7's summons had more Wow factor, with the exception of FF8's Alexander. <3

Gunblades? Would've been better if they made more sense. That and a good parried hit with your finger in the trigger hole would probably snap your finger right quick if you didn't keep a really strong grip.

Hidden Technology City... How the fuck does the largest. Most technologically advanced. Most militaristic city. On the PLANET. Stay hidden. And don't feed me the game's "zomg force field" bull, because they had to have some size and technology to put it up in the first damn place!

The monsters from the moon thing came outta nowhere and was so late in the game that it struck me as being a retarded plot device.. go figure.

Ragnarok. What makes Ragnarok "so cool!" compared to the airships in the other 8 FF games that have flyable airships? I fail to understand this, also. FF6, 7, and 9's ships fly the exact same way. I'd argue that the Highwind was cooler, with its convertible design and badass pilot (stfu, he wielded polearms, that's good enough for me).

Time Compression was an incredibly lame plot device brought up in the last, what, hour of gameplay...

And monsters level up with you - it's SO FUCKING EXPLOITABLE, OMFG. FF8 was so mind-bendingly easy because of this. FF games have never been hard, really (except III, IV hardtype, and V)... 8 was just retarded though.

Now, let's talk about some other things.

Draw/Junction. You'd have to be HIGH to think this system is good and balanced. Hey, instead of grinding by fighting monsters over and over, let's instead grind by fighting one monster for a half hour while drawing 100 of its new spell for all 3 characters. Once you've done this, the 100 stocked spell will boost a stat by a retarded amount. What this really means, is that without Junctioning spells, your stats suck, and with the same level monster system, they're permanently doomed to suck. With junctioning spells, you become horribly overpowered. On top of all this, if you don't junction at all, you're left with... Attack.

Squall. Why do people like this idiot? He sometimes has pretty interesting and deep thoughts on matters. Why, then, for 9/10 of the game, is he seemingly incapable of saying anything besides "Whatever"... he makes such an ass of himself throughout the entire game. I'd rather talk to a rock than Squall. At least the Rock wouldn't blow me off after a long stretch of silence.

Triple Triad. Admittedly, playing the game is fun, except for one thing. Random. What the FUCK was Square thinking when they implemented that? Seriously... what the FUCK.

Then we have things like the broken Limit system which encourages you to get to yellow HP and then spam the shit out of Triangle until you hear the Limit sound - and then you get Aura, the most ill-conceived spell of all time.

And, the single worst plot sequence in FF history, the "GFs erase our memories.. we all grew up together!" sequence in Trabia Garden. God, I wanted to gouge my eyes out with a rusty metal spork after sitting through that scene, even more so the second time I played through the game.

I'm sorry.. I just have to... QUOTED FOR THE FUCKING TRUTH! :D

anyways, ya, Chasym, I can see why remake would be annoying but I wanna be able to play it portable <3 and I don't care to hax my PSP cause I'll prolly kill it :\

oh, and one thing about Tagrineth's post, FFXII seems to be a nice challenge of a FF ^^

http://bluelaguna.net/news/7645/tetsuya-nomura-talks-kingdom-hearts.php

That being said, Nomura reiterated previous comments in saying he already has new ideas about the future development of Kingdom Hearts. However, when those ideas will be turned into an actual project, fans should not expect a new numbered title or something along the lines of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Furthermore, Nomura also ruled out a foray into media forms other than games, such as animation.

They say a lot of things and then do the other. They used to say they weren't gonna remake anything FF or to look forward to more with FF7 and such.

I'm so tempted to flame Final Fantasy 8 now. I'd probably have to spill over into two posts. Epic flame material and stuff.

Anyway. Enough of that derail.

Kingdom Hearts 1 had stat caps long before level 99, too.

FF8 moved too fast for me. I was like level 30 when I got to the final dungeon. There were also too many characters and names to keep up with in the story.

"I am really XXXX's father..."

... Who's XXXX again??

And yet, at level 30, because of the crappy mob level up system, if you had decent spell lists for your characters to Junction, you were probably better off than any level 100 party there.

Just beat Kingdom Hearts II! Only 80% completion. Looks like I have work to do. Great ending, however!

So I read up a little more on getting some stuff done. Turns out to unlock the last few tournaments that you enter by talking to Hades, you have to do the following:

1) Beat all the regular Underdrome tournaments.
2) Level your forms to the maximum level (which is level 7, and not including Final)
3) Level your Summoning to the maximum level.
4) Level both Drive forms and Summoning to the max level.

And I'll post how to level them just so everyone knows.

Valor: 1 exp for each hit landed on an enemy (ie: Hit an enemy 7 times, get 7 exp for that form).
Wisdom: 1 exp for each Heartless defeated.
Master: 1 exp for small Drive orbs, 3 exp for the large orbs.
Final: 1 exp for each Nobody defeated.

I've been thinking of writing a guide to submit to GameFAQ's on leveling each form. I just need to level Master now. I'm unsure on how to level Summoning though. Probably each enemy defeated or something.

the form levels cap at level 5 x.x (or atleast they have for me XD)

Two Nations at war is an appealing plot to alot of people. Even if you arent one of them.

Squall and Zell being pussies is a matter of opinion. Granted Zell IS, Squall is pretty badass.

Magic was nothing more than something to use in the junction system. The only worthwhile spells you could use were Aura and Demi. [And occasionally meltdown....Jumbo Cactuar anyone?]

Gunblades make sense like this: They dont fire projectiles. When you swipe down with it, you pull the trigger and it sends a shockwave through the blade. Im not making this up. Does that make it any better? Not to some people. But again, its just your opinion.

Basically Esthar gets a big cloak field. Thats about all there is too it. Activate the cloak field, BOOM, city dissapears.

Lunar Cry (monsters from the moon) they actually started talking about this as soon as you get to Esthar on Disc 3. Its not THAT late. And its only a ploy to get Adel's containment device out of orbit.

Ragnarok airshiop IS THE COOLEST. It looks like a dragon, its a nice shade of red, it doubles as a space ship, machine guns, a cannon, arms, etc. The pilot? Well....the pilot and crew were dead so IDK. Plus the name itself is sweet.

Time compression was an intelligent concept. The sorceress wants to rule time. ALL of time. Past present and future. How can she do that? Compress time into one zone.

The level system was a good idea because it forced you to level your characters at a fairly even pace. If one of your characters is level 20 and the others are still 7, then monsters, which take on the highest level, would rip up the level 7 characters. And if you facing monsters like Maborlo or Courel, who have bad breath and Death lvl2, that can be a very bad thing.

Junction/Draw: You dont have to fight a single monster for an hour to get 99 spells for each character. In the world, there are draw points for each spell that deplete and recharge as you use them. So what do you do? Draw magic from a draw point, fight through some of the story, come back, draw again, continue through the story, find a new draw point, continue. The only magic that must be drawn from a monster is the spell Apocalypse that you draw from Ultemecia's Final Form. If you junction correctly, you can make your characters immune to things like Death and Bio and even make it so you get health from elemental attacks like Blizzard, Thundaga, Fira etc.

Squall........again, its your personal opinion. But part of the story of the game is Squall's transformation from a lone wolf into a socially budding person. But lemme guess, you want it to be like Cloud and have a constant attitude all game. Right?

Yea Triple Triad is good, but I still prefer Tetra Master.

Limit Break system is different in every game. You like some, you hate others. Yet again, only your opinion. Limit Breaks like Selphie's "The End' (instant death to anything, even bosses and WEAPONS) and Squall's "Renzokuken-Lionheart" are EXTREMELY deadly attacks. If you had access to these from a basic ATB gauge, it would make the game even easier.

The "GF erased our memories" thing, I MUST agree with you on. That was completely retarded.

Pretty much everything boils down to opinion.
