More like kitty adopted me!

Back in October, I started seeing this kitty around my house. Didn't think much of it at first because there are so many cats around here that local college kids that rent out homes here thought it would be "cool" to get a pet and then not take care of them.

She would run up to me every time I'd go outside, and even tried to dart into the house when I came back from grocery shopping. I wanted to keep her then, but I was really trying to hold out of getting a cat until I moved again.

Last Friday, my sister was here and I was telling her about how every time I go out, this cat keeps trying to run into the house. and that if I see her again I'm considering keeping her. No sooner I said that, there is the cat, meowing at me and my sister. So, we laughed, told the cat she won and took her to the vet to get her checked out and tested.(and had her checked for microchips. though, anyone who does that to a pet, f them.) So far everything is clear. Yesterday was her first official day in the house and shes so sweet. I can't believe someone would keep her outside like that, specially with all this nasty weather we'd had the last few weeks.

I didn't know what to name her. Everyone that I know that has a cat names them something stupid that makes me want to /facepalm my sister included. those poor poor critters.

So i did what any logical person who plays a MMO would do, I asked my linkshell! (oh boy..)

After much wtf moments, I decided I was going to name her Ember, and she seems to like it!

Regardlessif I got her or not, I was planning on going to the ASPCA within the next few months so this worked out nicely! So happy to have her here with me. <3

That is an adorable cat. Good for you! Kitties can make you feel so good sometimes. '-';

is she bad?

Not really, shes just acting like a kitten. got her some toys and she carries them around like a dog, it's pretty funny!

She knew it was only a matter of time and a few meows before she broke you! haha

Growing up, that was pretty much how my family got all of our cats and dogs. Gotta love the furballs.

She is a cutie! We got our cat a similar way. I think someone dumped her in our neighborhood because she was so clean and young when we found her right in our driveway. I hope that she treats you well!

Cute cat.

Next pet I get, I'm using this to find a name: http://www.behindthename.com/random/

Lol! "Badfist Gentleberry" If I had a pet tonberry that would be perfect. good find. I think I used one of those when I was trying to get a name for guild wars.

Yeah, sad people don't take them to no kill shelters or something if they don't want them. I think the older ladys in the neighborhood must have been taking care of her on occasion. She's been a sweetie so far, other then trying to kill all of her toys. tried to take pics of that but she moves too fast. haha

oh what were some of the names your LS came up with? lol
fumoffu, fluffy, giggle chan, muffin, there were tons more, but I forget exactly, I know it was the nic names people in our shell gave the Yovra's in sea. All of them bad. Most people in the shell, if they have a wyvern name it ember, and we always blame ember for things that go wrong, so that is how it was decided. lol

that actually works out perfectly. cause if anything is broken or goes wrong in the house, you know who did it. hahahahah

I'm sorry about your kitty, that is rough :( I'm sure you'll find one when you are ready.

You're kitty is purdy =)

Kinda reminds me of my Cheebas physic. Slender. And looks like she would of had a solid powder grey coat! Cute. I hope she doesn't terrorize you lol

Not to be "that person", but are you sure she didn't have a home? We had an extremely social cat that loved everyone (including dogs) and always ran up to say hello whenever he saw someone, and loved to sneak in to houses to socialize with them whenever he was outside. In the end, one of our neighbors stole him because they believed we didn't feed him. The reason was that he - surprise - ate food when they gave him food (despite him always having a bowl of dry food and a bowl of water at all times at home). I mean, it's not a surprise that a cat eats wet food when given, since it tastes a lot better (but is less healthy) than the dry-food variant.

Also, why don't you like microships? It hurts a bit in the beginning (but I promise you, not more than declawing that a lot of people seem to enjoy doing), and it's safer than a collar, especially if it's an outdoor cat. The microship will tell you who the owner is if she ever gets lost, and it's safer because cats like to climb trees and go through bushes, and with a collar, they can get stuck and choke to death. Microships really isn't bad at all, and is mandatory on dogs in Sweden.

And what's with the "really can't believe someone would keep her outside like that"? I mean, sure, bad weather is never fun, but cats like to be outside. And you can't be sure she was left outside, they might have a cat door so the cat can run out and in at it's own will, like we have. Hell, our cats still go outside occasionally even if it's -30 degrees celsius, because they like to be outside.

"Not to be 'that person'" -- you're being exactly that person.

Fuck Microchips.
If it's an owned cat, it needs to be tagged as such -- your fault for losing your own cat if it didn't have a collar and was allowed outside, just as it is the hypothetical owner's fault in this case. Misi clearly is able to give it a better home.
Cats may like to be outside, but *nobody* likes to be outside in shitty weather.

Quit being "that person" for the sake of trying to sound profound.

As I noted, I live in a college town, the kids here get pets because they rent houses and think getting a pet is part of now renting a house. They get pets in the fall and abandon them in the summer when lease is up. I've seen my share of dead house pets on the street around here that they have thrown outside. In fact, a friend of the family's dog was killed in December because of how the kids going to class speed around here. So no, I don't feel bad for taking this cat. I've seen no "Missing" posters anywhere. On poles, the internet, or the newspaper which I have been checking nearly every day for the last two weeks that I've had her. No one has knocked on our door in tears looking for said cat. If they ever -do- show up they can take a look at the vet papers and pay the fee for the visit and medication it needed from eating rodents and trash from being outside all the time. And i'd request an evaluation on their part. Being the cat was outside crying when there was a few feet of snow. Caring owners. If I didn't take her, my neighbors were going to because they were getting upset over her being outside. So if it wasn't me it was going to be someone else.

Not once since she's been here has she scratched to go outside or try to dart out when the door opens. I did word the micro chipping thing badly, I am not against micro chipping. It is a wonderful idea. "(and had her checked for microchips. though, anyone who does that to a pet, f them.)" Anyone who does that to a pet being : leaving them outside all the time. Around here, terrible idea. It isn't the country or a slower paced residential area. As far as collars go, they make break away collars specially made for cats in case of situations of getting stuck on objects.

If you want to think i'm a bad person or whatever for doing what I did, that is your opinion. As I said, no one has come looking for her. no posters, no lost pet article in the newspaper or online. I even asked the local vet about anyone calling for a missing cat. Nothing. I've done all what was possible because I know if for some reason my pet got out i'd be hurting. Done more then most and probably more then the "owners" would deserve at this point.

I'm sorry you lost your pet, but I think you are looking at what I did as a personal hit to what happen to you in the past.
