Know who you are dealing with...

I don't think it would be worth alienating certain groups further to be honest. =/ Dynamis Scheduling is going to be majorly messed up in the future as well especially when the levels get upped to 99...hell even 90. A group of 6 people could likely wing a Dynamis and there's not going to be much to stop them. I foresee several problems with our cozy schedule in the future. :(

Meh, I still think that those that feel they don't have to work as a group with everyone else... instead doing w/e they please to benefit themselves are entirely selfish. Quetz used this system for the better part of 4-6 years.... It was ruined by those that thought they could just do w/e they want in order to get gear before everyone else.

/em nods to miros

I can see that coming as well. I don't think dyn can ever be soloed (Heck, you get like 5-10 mobs on you when you pull a stat, that's a few too many) but it could be done by a single party or duoed maybe.

I don't look forward to that. Once it can be extreme low manned, we're gonna have idiots coming out of the woodwork. It might be Midgard all over again..But I hope not.

This REALLY sounds like one of those "Damn Midgard People" posts, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are referring to ignorant people in general, not from a specific server.

But just to clarify, if the system blows up and gets ruined now, it's going to be because SE is raising the level cap, and not doing anything to counteract the resulting increased demand on these non-instanced zones.

At that point, you can no longer blame "selfish people". If at a given time, you have 20 groups that are capable of clearing dynamis, wanting to enter a selection of only 10 zones, half of them simply aren't going to get to go. And that half is not going to be happy. Trying to maintain and organize a schedule at that point is going to be like trying to maintain and organize a schedule for who gets to claim Fafnir. It's simply not gonna happen.

Now that SE has gone and done something that is going to CAUSE direct competition between groups of players based on how the system works (much like claiming ground kings), there's not really a damn thing anyone can do about it. It sucks, and I think SE is stupid for not putting some kind of countermeasures in place. Things haven't gone completely to shit yet, and hopefully before they raise the cap any farther they do something to prevent it. But if they don't, trying to maintain a schedule at that point is going to be plainly impossible.

Apathy's been able to farm shadow lord and xarca with 12 for years with the cap @75, get on their level :)

I apologize Divinus, it's just hard not to think that way lol; it was pretty nice pre server merge and the constant jacking of zones gives the illusion of the majority from midg are bad when it may not be so. Easier to see the bad before the good as when shit fucks up it catches everyones attention

No apology necessary... it was jyak's post I was referring to anyway. And I didn't mean to rehash any debate over what the server merge did to the scheduling system, that wasn't my point.

My point was simply that the steadily increasing demand on Dynamis zones is going to take its toll on the feasibility of the QCDN system unless SE does something to correct the inherent flaw in the game's Dynamis system. While the increasing demand may have initially come from the server merge, it is more so now coming from the level cap increases causing "more and smaller" groups forming instead of the "fewer and larger" groups that have been typical in the past. And the problem is only going to get worse up to the eventual level 99 cap.

That said, I'm afraid I know what SE is thinking... I'd bet they are thinking that they won't have to do anything to correct this issue because the eventual obsolescence of the content will cause the problem to self-correct. My concern is that I think they are wrong. I think people are still going to want to do Dynamis for the relic sets, and even more so for the currency to upgrade Relic weapons. And trying to obsolete relic weapons is a double-edged sword, because they then run the risk of pissing off every existing relic holder. In any case, doing nothing at all isn't going to work.

Well put Div.

Personally I can see the "more and smaller" groups literally destroying the QCDN calendar eventually. Back on Midgard, one of the worst things you would hate to see is a low man dyn group (USUALLY JP) come in and take your zone. Unless you had a person who could speak JP, it was very difficult to negotiate with them/random for the zone.

If more of those show up, especially 1 party groups, that will not respect the calandar, well. Personally I'm glad my dyn shell isn't part of the trouble. The demand for currency far as I can tell is not going down just 'cuz the level cap is going up and since with magican trials, you can still have a relic weapon be the best in game, I don't see it going down in the foreseeable future. People want their relic weapons and +1 AF2 and that's not going to go away.

Square REALLY needs to do something about this. Ignoring a problem is not going to make it go away. They once said instancing dynamis was "too hard"; for the life of me I can't remember where I saw that. But if it gets as bad as I think it might, they might have to do what they thought was "too hard" or bring in a LOT more ways to get currency.

This post explains the future. As much as it bugs me once the level caps start to be implemented I don't see our Dynamis Scheduling staying alive for too much longer. If you can get 6 friends together and actually farm Dynamis for a good hour and get some decent things wouldn't you do it? I sure as hell would. It seems like with the level cap Dynamis is going to become more like assaults and less like an end game item. I think SE has just given up on some aspects of FFXI, however I hope they do not make the same mistakes in FFXIV however.

This is the best Dynamis flame because it names names...

There's actually a lot of those....

It's true, he did it to me!
you effin slut!

*on topic*
all good things must come to an end. and the scheduling forum was definitely a good thing. but unless SE in creases the strength of the mobs in dyna, yeah when hell freezes over, Miros is on the money. how is the schedule gonna compete with mini lvl 99 groups? this wont just screw our system up. there will be shells likely breaking due to lack of runs because of possible zone crowding. or simply because they wont even be needed any more. we make dyna LS's simply out of a need for numerous people. that need is now headed out the window.

Increasing mob difficulty in Dynamis is just one of many things SE could do to prevent this issue. I can think of a number of additional ways that SE could help the situation... whether they would do any of them or not remains to be seen.

1) They could level cap Dynamis to 75. I don't see them doing this, given that if they didn't do it already, they aren't going to, plus with the recent removal of level caps for other things, I can't see then adding new ones.

2) They could instance Dynamis (not bloody likely), or in lieu of that, at least implement multiple copies of existing zones. For example, say there were FOUR trail markings in Xarca that all lead to identical Dynamis Xarcabard zones. You don't have an unlimited number like an instance would support, but at least you have a limited number of multiples available, plus that might be far easier to implement (though I'm no MMO programmer, so idk).

3) They could restrict entry to once a week instead of every 3 days. Not one of the better solutions, but since most shells go twice a week, this would be a fast way to double capacity with minimal effort. Though prime times would still be an issue.

4) They could introduce another event that drops ancient currency in the quantities that Dynamis does. Since most Relic armor is not exactly awesome, and with all the new content and the hint of a third high-level Artifact set, ancient currency for relic upgrades is one of the primary driving factors for keeping Dynamis popular. If there was an alternate way to acquire currency, that might take a good bit of the load off of Dynamis zones.

5) Lower the entry fee for CoP zones (or increase currency drop rates in CoP zones). These zones are under utilized at the moment because they aren't nearly as profitable as the original zones, and they are more difficult to clear. The difficult of killing the bosses of the zones (that effing Malboro in Valk comes to mind) should resolve itself as the level cap goes up, provided they don't also cap Dynamis to 75 (in which case, reducing the difficulty might be an option). So if they could make those zones more profitable, I think they could become more viable alternatives to the original zones than they are currently, and distribute some of the load better.

6) Require a minimum number of people to enter a zone. Admittedly, I'm grasping at straws by this point, and I'm not sure how this could be implemented to not end up causing more problems than it solves, but if there was a way to prevent group of 6 people from claiming a zone for 3.5 hours, it might help.

I'm sure there are other ideas I'm not thinking of, but the point is just that there's lots of things SE could do, if they cared enough to try.

all this has been said 20fold. Maybe if people worked together instead of what has happened in the past 3-4 months and adhered to some sort of a system this wouldn't be such a clusterfuck :D

Fuck off with your flame baiting. You know damn well it's not that simple and you're just trying to pick another fight with Divinius.

show me how what I said was flamebaiting, ACTUALLY what you said was more of a flamebait than what I said. :D

3-4 months referring to the situation resulting from the server merge, a topic on which you and Divinius have been butting heads for quite a while(and one which you keep insisting on reviving). You also responded directly to a post from Div in which he's outlining alternatives to Dynamis crowding and suggesting that we continue using the schedule, with some strongly worded subtext.

Your post in a vacuum looks innocent, but your history and past behavior would indicate otherwise.
