I really try to cooperate whenever i can but due to new people being added to the shell and days they can make it - i needed to set the glacier zone up like that :(

I'm sure that other shells would agree that it isn't fair to have Glacier 2x in a month for any shell given the number of shells that run on Saturdays and their demand for that zone.
 
I can see from the schedule that you tried to balance out your zones for the month--which we all appreciate, of course.

I think the problem is that it makes it really hard for the linkshells that run on only one day of the week when you don't do the balancing on a per-day basis. If you take 2 glaciers on a sat, for example, that really limits the options for LSs that run on Sat only, and it has a cascading effect on all other LSs.

To Try and fix everyones complains (and our shell is not the only shell to schedule this zone 2 times on a saturday) I have revised runs. I reviewed all posts and believe this should not be a conflict with anyone as of this day and time of posting. Hope this helps!

I commend the effort, but please, look at the # of LSs. It's pretty obvious that by the pigeonhole principle, you just CAN NOT take two of the same northlands without completely depriving another LS of that zone. Take a look at the posted master schedule. That's with one LS missing completely (ours). It's mostly due to scheduling aberrations like yours.

The point is that *no one* should be taking the same zone twice per month per day for the aforementioned reason. I would go as far as to say that it should be a scheduling rule. Otherwise, we will spend every month doing "rescheduling" that is totally unnecessary.

I do it as a favor to everyone else to be one of the last to post every month, because it's a lot more work to go through all the posts to check conflicts--but maybe some of you need to try being the last few sometimes and see how painful it really is, especially when people toss out schedules without really thinking about how it affects everyone else.

As always, I will try to minimize changes, but please be ready to make changes again. We've accepted having ZERO northlands in a moth before, but that's not something we're willing to do on a regular basis. All of you other LSs need to realize that we will have to take turns having northland furloughs.
 
Either I'm missing something or your still have a conflict on 11/21 for Beaucedine.
 
Meta is really right. There are 7 shells that start within a 4 hour window. It hurts everyone when you tie up one of the more used zones twice in the same month espically on Saturday. I ended up giving up a Xara last month when I had no other Sat to move to because you scheduled two. I was really under the impression there was a rule of general understand to the general effect we seem to be asking from you. Consider how things would run if every shell started to try to do 2 Glaciers or 2 Xara on Sat on a consistant basis. It would completly lock several shells out of those zones. Basically all I am saying is put yourself in our shoes.
 
We're not saying you're being greedy or anything. I can tell that you're trying to keep the month-wide allotment reasonable--it's just that it doesn't work out with the way you did it this month when we have sat-only and tues-only LSs in the mix.

I agree with all above that no shell occupy the same zone twice in any given month.
 
This shell does not have the conflict on the 21st - the other shell scheduled over the top on that day. I dont' usually request runs like this and again I really do apologize and am not trying to be rude. There was a purpose for the way it was done - and I always Always check the master schedule. I posted on the 20th due to personal commitments and availability so that others may be willing to look at other shells posting like I always try to do and now I'm being told i'm monopolizing zones. :( I have posted schedulles last before and have always been willing to change. As for occupying a zone twice in one month - if was a city run, no one would be having an issue. How many shells vs how many zones vs how many times you go in a month.... there are not enough zones for any tuesday & saturday shell not to have "double runs"

Of course, the highest contention is in glacier and xarca, and that's how it will usually manifest. LSs usually try to get as many of those as they can in a month. And that tendency will be exacerbated as the LS reaches saturation in the city drops. It's just the reality from the drop rates in the zones.

Again, I don't think any of us are accusing each other of being greedy. It's just that I think the scheduling pattern of some LSs is kind of oblivious to the scheduling reality. You can post early and be wlling to make changes, but all that does is create extra work for everyone, because as of now, you are pretty much guaranteed to be asked to move out if you have a weird schedule. At that point, why not just make a more "realistic" schedule to start with?

I will make a thread where we can discuss the situation and maybe come up with a solution.
