I didnt' put this on the flameboard, because, well, I'm not 'flaming' anyone. I'm asking a question.

Why can't anyone use common sense?

whut iz dis u speek off!?!?!11!?

It's because most people operate under their ID. They'll do anything that makes them feel good right now, and will not take into context what others think or how it will effect them.

It's a sad time indeed, but everyone is selfish.

because ppl are stupid and failed Grade 4 5 times, grade 5 to 12 3 times each

School can't teach common sense. Sadly my Dad is an outstanding scholar but when it comes to common sense he has little to non. It was driven in him that he needed to be book smart to make something of himself. Now he pays for that daily. Another thing is sheletered people tend to not have much common sense as they tend to not get out much and experiance the "real" of life. Common sense is brought by experiancing the ups and downs of life and not just letting things happen but learning from and off them wether they be good or bad. Sadly though most people just stroll through life not giving shit about shit and they end up worthless with no common sense or book smart.

Because everyone has a different perspective of what is and should be consider "common sense". What may be perceived as being common to you, may not be common to me or to anyone else. Thus making most things people would call "common sense" not really common at all.

This is a good point...Valid too...But if you blanket the term 'common sense' and apply it to Person #1 and Idiot #1, you will find that Person #1 does not walk across the main road without looking, while Idiot #1 will. Person #1 isn't going to pick a fight with that extremely beefed up guy with a bat, while Idiot #1 would.

Simple shit...Like, when you touched fire the first time as a child and your brain went, 'hey dumbass, don't do that again.' That's a common sense thing. There are people who repeatedly get burned because they lack such.

Common Sense appears not so commonly any more it seems, I too get frsutrated with the enormous lack of it in the general public these days, however, I try and give people the benefit of the doubt >.> sometimes incorrectly too.
But meh, what can you do you know? People are always going to consider themselves el smarte', no matter how much you try and point out how much of an idiot they are.
Although, I must admit, if someone burned their hand on a fire, and repeatadly put their hand back in simply to burn it again.... well for one, it makes me think of that episode of the simpsons, where Lisa compares bart to her gerbil, and puts an electrified cupcake on the counter, and bart repeatadly tries to grab it >.>... while the gerbil touches it once, and walks the feck away... and secondly, if someone did that D: i would slap them with a large log or something, large in essence... like maybe a water pale or something... anyhoo venturing off topic, woot, boredom >.>

Common sense correctly defined is something you *should* know taking into consideration your education level, your interests, and the knowledge of others around you.

So while everyones definition of *common sense* is different, for different situations. In that situation the person usually is displaying abnormally stupid behavior which they should know or be able to see.

I'm normally a person who people consider has common sense but admitidly from time to time I get accused of having no common sense as well.

I'm not always smart.

But I agree some folks just are plain stupid all the time.

I tend to differ with the idea that school dosen't teach common sense. I think there is no better way to learn "common sense" than interaction with your peers. Now how much you learn depends on how perceptive you are.

it's all in the mind really.
