Aftermath: Increases Magic Acc. and Magic Attack
Occasionally attacks twice
Lv. 75 BLM

Has anyone taken a look at this mythic weapon and done a comparision on the elemental staffs? I'm curious to see what long-time BLMs like myself, think of this new staff.

Garbage for the same reason Dorje is garbage. That MAB is not enough to overcome the % from Staves, and whatever the Aftermath is... you won't be meleeing on BLM, which means no WS, which means the Aftermath is essentially worthless.

I forget what the math is exactly, but any BLM with MAB above a certain point will see higher returns from HQ Staves, rather than the high MAB Staves. There may be a balance point where this Levi/Dorje will outperform Staves.... but really not worth the effort at all.

so um... what do you think of it? lol

It wouldn't be much good on HNM because 10 Macc. doesnt provide as much as a HQ stave, it was discussed in the bard forums on that ZNM staff. I guess it depends on the aftermath effect and how much it increases each stat, even so you'd still need to use the WS to gain that effect. I don't see that being very realistic because even if this does replace HQ nuking staves you still have to swap for hMP, and enfeeble/cure acc./potency, causing you to lose any TP you've gained, unless you plan to spam TP raising meds like Opo or Icarus wings, or have a SAM willing to throw you TP, but i think SAMs would rather do other things with there TP than give it to a BLM.

Basically, this is the one of the least impressive Nyzul relics.

I think it's nice, but not impressive. I was holding back my opinion so it would not influence others.

fair enough, it just sounded kinda odd, like; "i'm wondering what people like me think of this item" asif you didn't know or something <_<. Maybe it was just me...

Opinions on long running BLMs means alot to me. I feel like we're some kind of family of death and distruction.. and of D2s.

...and Retraces.

I'm going to partly disagree. It would take a lot of testing and really, the huge price tag deters any reasonable possibility that that is going to happen. However, that aside, the staff sounds like it's could be underrated by you all.
Yagrush (Lv 75): Causes a permanent Divine Veil effect on your character, making all -na spells and Erase AoE. Pretty much the ultimate WHM weapon, have fun getting one.
The above quote was taken from the thread in the WHM section in reference to WHM gear and Rappa states that the "augments divine veil" effect gives a permanent divine veil effect to all -na spells and erase. Where and how he got that info, I honestly do not know, but if he's right, I am guessing the "augments elemental seal" effect would basically give a permanent elemental seal to all nukes. I don't know about you, but the prospect of almost guaranteed unresisted nukes is very promising especially when I can forgoe a lot of gear choices for pure MAB.

The problem with that is that Divine Veil is a job trait, where as Elemental Seal is a job ability.

It's a trait tied to an ability, you have to use Divine Seal to get Divine Veil to activate.

He got that info, because each of the premiere FFXI sited (allakhazam etc.) got 1 weapon to play around with for an hour, and one of them were Yagrush. And it had permanent Divine Veil then.

As mentioned before, Divine Veil is a job trait, while Elemental Seal is a job ability, so I doubt it will be a permanent Elemental Seal.

The BLM weapon is trash, however, it depends on how it enhances Elemental Seal. It could very well be something like double magic potency along with magic accuracy, or at least a, say, 50% increase in magic potency while using Elemental Seal, in which case it would be a good situational weapon, like the RDM sword.

Right, but if the WHM Mystic really does add permanent Divine Veil, it makes more sense that the weapon would negate the need for having to use a trigger for a trait, then it would for an ability... at least in my mind.

I wouldn't sink a shitload of gil into a staff that I could only use every 10 minutes. (or 8:20, godforbid someone merited down Elemental Seal timer).

Divine veil requires divine seal to activate, otherwise it's a passive trait that does nothing. However, I should note that I made an error in my previous statement, Laevateinn "ehances elemental seal" rather than "augments". If that's true, I highly doubt it'll do what you said because then it wouldn't be enhancing, it'd be augmenting because of the way ES works. In order for it to enhance, it would have to already increase the capacity of ES, but ES only capacity is to go unresisted so how would it increase that? I know that sounds wierd, but when you enhance anything, you only increase the features in which it has, you do not add; adding features would be augmenting.

Even so, that's a situational use. It would be nice to have that constant Ele(assuming that is the case, maybe not) for HNM/Jailer/etc. even at the cost of lowering your dmg.

For anything not needing that extra ele power? The gear argument doesnt hold up. I can't think of a single spot where I would like to put MAB, but haven't because of needing the Ele skill.

I do primarily major events like einherjar, HNMs, kirin, etc. where certain mobs can be heavily resistant to BLMs. Not all, but a good few are. In those cases, I can forgoe AF gloves for zenith, maybe ignore the 120 INT I need and pick up some MAB pieces, use Sorcerer's ring, etc. However, if I was correct and I honestly have no idea if I am, I am guessing really, are we to say it only applies to nukes? It could be a guaranteed slow, para, blind, sleep, etc. I wouldn't say it's worth getting, but I do believe people are underwriting it based solely on the magic accuracy and MAB.

Yes, I know, but it still only enhances a job trait. You don't get permanent divine seal with it, as your Cures won't do a constant 100% more heal. It just makes it so that you don't have to use Divine Seal to activate it. So it still doesn't change the way Divine Seal works.

And yeah, that's the thing, the BLM weapon is an utter waste if all it do is increase the magic accuracy of Elemental Seal... A permanent Elemetal Seal would be a bit overpowered, so I'd think that's out of the quetion. Would be no point in giving Magic Accuracy on the weapon if that was the case.

SE's probably going to make "Enhances Elemental Seal effect" last two spells instead of one. Oh and I don't likey that new staff.

or maybe just not wear off when you cast a spell so it stays active for a minute which is nice and all but a good INT/elemental magic build using HQ staves should have few troubles with resists and have higher max damage at same time.

I doubt the ES speculation. It seems strange that a staff which gives a permanent ES effect, would also give magical accuracy.
