I just download a really good pre- release rip, and was pleasantly suprised
by Romero's return to creating zombie flicks.

Anyone else seen this? any thoughts?

I enjoyed it. I've been George Romero's bitch since the first time I watched Night of the Living Dead and he strengthened his grip with Dawn of the Dead. I even like Day despite its being the weakest entry in the series (great effects and decent characters, as long as you can overlook Joe Pilato's screaming at everyone and chewing the scenery like a zombie over a fresh kill).

Land of the Dead was nifty because it gave us new zombie info (I loved the bit about using fireworks to distract during the raiding parties) and again kept the zombie apocalypse as the background for the real story. I'm not sure I completely buy the lead zombie's ability to organize the others (he's no Bub), but that's okay.

I'm looking forward to seeing the unrated director's cut.

Dawn of the Dead > Any other zombie movie ever

. . .

Dawn of the Dead does kick some serious ass. the first time i saw it i nearly cried. (exageration), but i DID watch it like 3 times in a row, maybe 4. hehe

It was all right. With the armored vehicle and some of the characters I couldn't help but think "heh, Romero's made a John Carpenter movie." Then again, Romero was probably a big influence on Carpenter, especially since they both mix social commentary in with their horror (most of the time).

Dawn is my hands-down favorite zombie movie. I was happy to see Anchor Bay is going to release a UMD version for the Sony PSP. Portable zombie goodness is always a good thing.

(Yeah, I already have one I downloaded and encoded to run off the memory card... but I want a legit version.)

Zombies shouldn't think :?

It was okay. I think it is about even with Day and that isn't a bad thing. Even average Romero is good Romero.

Shawn of the Dead > ALL

I'd rather pull my own teeth out with a pair of pliers than sit through Day of the Dead.

In terms of production, for my tastes 28 Days Later > all, even though it's not a true zombie film. I can watch that movie any time, while I have to be in the right mood for Romero.

No one ever mentions it, but I didn't mind the Night of the Living Dead remake with Tony Todd. Not the best thing in the world, but the new feminist arc didn't do it any harm. But the original ending was better because it had bite to it.

I thought it was a great movie, but I too am I big fan of zombie movies in general. My brother and I get togather every once and while, and just watch 3-4 of them in a row. Of course we have a good time adlibbing to the movie, but aside from that it is still good fun.

I've had a reaccuring zombie nightmare since I was a teenager. A bunch of friends, and me fighting off zombies in my house. Through time the house changes, and so do the friends, but it is still the same basic dream. I've had it so many times that it quit effecting me, but I used to wake up pretty freaked out. I still have a thing about people peering into open windows....

....Needs more death metal...Zombies w/o Death Metal = t3h suck.
