I partied with this guy and i can only say one thing....asshole. We were in qufim island doing lake worms and you all know how crazy it can get there anyways. We were doing pld/drk/drk/thf/rdm/whm were runing around pwning worms. The rdm happened to go afk for a sec (he was the one were were following mind you) so we keep on killing. After the next worm died i went the the opposite direction because 2 worms had poped not to far from where the rdm had afked, the drk and whm taged along behind me while the pld and thf went around and fought a 2nd worm. We had a pl so it was no big deal and i simply said "Can we follow one person please." Lanien (the pld) decides to give me bs about it which is ridiculos because it wasint even that big of a problem then says "Im the tank i pick the mobs adn you stfu." or something along those lines. After all this he then leaves the party which i think is tottaly wrong i mean wtf dont like me but th pt did nothing and it was a good pt that was uncalled for.

Now it gets better....after about 6 or 7 mins he comes back as a lol75brd and starts killing all our mobs...WTF? grow up man stop hurting other ppls gameplay because your mad at me thats not right. I guess he has like 4+ 75 and that makes him the know it all off FFXI. I HATE,DETEST,and am DISGUSTED by people like this "oh im 75 fuck you you a stupid ass Fuc*" Seriously get over yourself and have fun, this aint no contest.

He was pretty confident that all you ppl on here would tottaly shut me down but idc if you guys are willing to stick up for him thats your prerogative but i hope someone has some type of heart to back me.

I'm gonna approach this story with an ample serving of skeptisism due to the fact that Lanien has an impeccable reputation both in game and here.

Hmm...that doesn't sound like Lanien, but returning to an XP spot as a level 75 job and killing low level xp mobs to fuck over a low level party is a shitty thing to do. If he in fact did do this it makes me sad - but I'd like to hear the other half of the story :(
 
Lanien is about as useful as a windshield wiper on a goats ass.

If it was Lanien, which i'm near 100% positive it wasn't, that was a shitty thing to do. After going through CoP with the guy, i got to know him pretty well.
 
This really sounds nothing like the Lanien I have experienced in-game before. He was always very nice, while pretty goofy.

I'm sorry this happened to you Kiskie but I'm very interested to hear the other side of the story.
 
I've always thought of Lanien as a crybaby since that holy phial incident, so its not surprising to me. I don't think that guys been on the Lanien character in a while though. Either way, whoever it was needs to raise the maturity level a bit. Level 75 stopped being badass after they changed the xp rate, didn't it?
 
(Tangential comment: Being level 75 was never an excuse to act immature to lowbie parties in the first place. Be it by being bossy - specific advice from experience is fine though, "do as I say because I say so" not so much - or by showing up underequipped claiming you can't be bothered with the lowbie equipment, or by killing lowbie party's mobs.)

From your side of the story I'm quite sympathetic, but I too would like to hear the other side of the story (because your side doesn't quite sound like a complete progression of events).

Case in point: generally a "shut up and do what I tell you to do" is not immediately followed by leaving the party, after all. It sounded more like the sort of thing someone would say if they intended to stay in the party, but wanted to be in charge (in a rather bullying way but that's not quite the issue).

So due to implausibility concerns, I think I'll suspend forming an opinion until I've heard the other side of the story.
 
Having a gimped sub is not the topic at hand atm :/

Lanien sounds like a nice guy generally on the boards as do you but people would be able to form a better opinion on the OP if he did state his side of the story.
