Lanian is a good guy, and if you got that kind of reaction out of him, then you are a fucking ass hole and you're lucky you didn't have a run in with someone that has a temper.

Imagine for a minute if it was someone like Vang. You'd have probably switched servers by now.

Hmmm, let's see here.
On the one hand, we've got some random Mithra who can't even level their subjob properly, it seems, whose grasp of the english language is rather poor, and who is saying some things uncharacteristic of someone many people know.

On the other hand, we've got someone who's been around, is decently well known to not be a complete and total git, and has a lot more detailed and realistic account of what may have happened.

Hmm, who do I believe, I have no idea...

QFT, though I'd agree with you even if I'd never heard of Lanien. (Tbh, my only personal opinion of him is that his Saget avatar always creeps me out.)

Person coming across as level-headed with a full account of actions, generally beats a person coming across as hot-headed (or thick-headed) with an incomplete account of actions.

Who actually did *what*, factors in as well of course, but all else being equal I'm much more likely to side with the person who comes across as reasonable and intelligent, rather than the person who comes across as being neither of those.

Plus I give kudos for promptly owning up to and admitting things you did wrong. People who have their faults pointed out to them and have too fragile an ego to acknowledge such things even when it's plain as day (whether such lack of acknowledgment comes from changing the subject, or denying obviously true statements or solid arguments), annoy the hell out of me. (I could, naturally, give names, but this is hardly the occasion since I'm on a tangent to begin with.)
 
Lanien is good people in my book. I almost passed over this thread but I wanted to see how much the OP would get owned. Go crawling back to your level 60, kiddo.

Because from what I've heard, shes a 60 pld with a 23 war sub.
 
Similar to post so i just put it here

Partied yesterday with Lanien in the Dunes, I do not know him well, but for the most part he seemed pretty calm and did a good job. I believe he was on Samurai at the time. No problems with him throughout the party, so I do not know what sent him him to do that.

But, I have a story similar to that.

Anways, I am in Valkrum Dunes with a rare decent party, even though 3 of the people do not have sub jobs. We are going along fine with a PL at first, and after about 30 minutes the PL leaves. After the PL leaves things slow down a little, but things are going good for the most part.

Shortly after, someone in the party says they have another PL on the way by the name of Vashue. A medium lvl whm with decent gear. After arriving at the camp he/she immediately starts to argue with everyone, and tell them how to do their job. I was on white mage at the time and she directed a comment toward me of something like Don't even bother curing and just spam Banish on the mob. I reply "You just do your job as a PL and I'll do mine." She then proceeds to cast ice spikes on herself to try and do dmg to the mob. Luckily she is a complete noob and ice spikes wouldnt do dmg to mobs the party has claimed. I then proceeded to tell her if she is just going to try and ruin the party she can leave, but she didn't. The next pull the Sam pulls and gets a link with 2 tier 2 gobs. The pl immediately decides to try and kill our experience and casts a bunch of cures he our party then runs away with one of the mob chasing after her. The sam follows with the linked goblin still attacking him. He ends up dying and getting shitty about the PL and home points to jeuno and leaves the party. Shortly after that the PL rounds about 7 gobs/flies and proceeds to kill them all to try and kill our exp anyway possible. After that happened I told the party that the PL is being a cunt and I'm out. Moral of the story if you don't want to PL someone don't. DOn't go there and be a cunt like Vashue did.

He was quite right, it seems.

That's not to say that having a well-known, well-respected name should be an automatic pass to do whatever the Hell you want ... but reputation means a lot in any MMORPG. A server is kind of like a little town; everybody tends to know everyone else.

Lanien is known, and the way you portrayed what happened here was somewhat out-of-character for him.





Not to pile on you, Kiskie, but I think you could also stand to realize that NO party will EVER work unless someone agrees to be subordinate to another. There needs to be a leader, and the rest should follow. This need not be the same person every time, and it's not simply a device to inflate egos -- it's simply a matter of function. Once it became clear to you that Lanien was the FARRRR more experienced member of your party, it would have been wise of you to defer to him.

Stubbornly, you insisted on maintaining some sort of control over the flow of the party. Understandable, and human ... but not wise. Once you can be more or less sure that you're on equal footing with your party members, that might be the time to be a tad more confrontational about your strategy.

And, yes ... roam parties are far preferable in Qufim, and YES ... you want your tank selecting your next target.




Hope to hear from you again, when you've cooled off a bit, and your ego has come down a few pegs.
