So, i am sure some people have heard of this program, but i know a lot that have not. Last FM has helped me expand my music library in iTunes more so that i thought possible. It is not hard to explain, but here it is from the experts.

What is Last.fm?

What can it do for me?
Well, i personally love the profile page it gives you. It tells you all your stats and readings for all the artists that you listen to and lets you give a short bio of yourself and your music taste.

Show what you recently played and who your top artists of the week are.

Now, here is where last.fm amazes me. It matches up the somes you listen to with other people, and see how well you match.

What is also nice is that when you build up your friends list and you are active, your friends can send you recommendations on what to listen to.

Now, that is just on the site, here is what the program looks like on your home computer:

Tells you the band, artist, album, year, company everything. Not only that, at the bottom it tells you artists you might be into. Also, if you are like me and like to know a little about the band you are listening to, it gives a bio of the band.

This program is a must for any music listener, i hope you sold you on it. Add me if you decide to DL it.

To every man his own, I just don't use it, but as long as I can sign up for this sans iTunes, I'll probably do it sometime today.

P.S. You listen to a ton of the same shit that I do o.O We're so emo.

like Tim said, personal preference, but I'd have utterly refused to sign up for last.fm (or, Audioscrobbler as it was when I signed up) had they attempted to force a media player/music shop on me.
 
no explanation necessary really; if they had an 'alliance' or 'partnership' with *any* music player that attempted to strong-arm me into using one over another, be it iTunes, WMP, Winamp, et al., I wouldn't have signed on to use their service.

The glorious thing about last.fm is that plugins for it are written for nearly every freakin' media player out there; Hell, I even have one for exaile on my laptop.

I just don't like when music services of any kind try to tie-in their service proprietarily to a certain kind of music player. A scenario of where a person could have two/three media players on their system unnecessarily could arise if the person used say, a music blogging service like last.fm that worked only on iTunes, but another service that could suggest similar tunes they listen to (I'm aware that last.fm does it, I'm talking hypothetically) works only with WMP...

Well, being i use iTunes i never had anything like that really happen. Like you mentioned though, it has a plugin for every fucking music player out there lol..

Looks like an interesting site, I just listen to music as per usual on my media player and it automatically updates what songs I listen to most, etc? Do they have a plugin for JetAudio? That's what I typically use.

found this site about a week ago by accident because youtube was acting up. I love how you can enter a band and it will play bands of similar styles. Much better then trying find vids on youtube.
