I was just thinking about this today because it came to mind the changes SE plans to make to fishing supposidely. All of a sudden it struck me that SE may make changes based on lazy whiners and not based on actual merit.

Think about it... players that are generally lazy like to make excuses saying Fishing is boring, Mining is camped by bots, Gardening takes too long, Farming is impossible because of gil sellers etc etc etc... when in matter of fact their just lazy and don't want to admit their lazy.

So SE see's these complaints and trys to fix things.

----
I will discuss this thread with my strong suit... fishing.

This problem has particularily affected Fishing in my opinion, as almost every person I talk to about fishing says they dont do it because its "boring" or "mindless" and this attitude gets spread to people who havent even TRIED it and they automatically have this negative attitude about it before even trying it and things get out of hand and people are all of a sudden flooding forums with complaints about fishing being boring.

I like fishing how it is... don't make it more interactive or less boring. I don't want to have to pay attention while fishing. Aside from casting sneak on myself when its wearing off I don't want anymore gimmicks and distractions cutting my profits for the sake of "more fun". Because thats what SE does, they always justify their crappy decisions with a trade off thats supposed to make the game "more fun".
----

Stop making stupid changes to the game based on lazy players whining.

Discuss this thread from your point of view and why you think Lazy players make excuses and what about mostly? Or if you don't think this thread is relevant at all... go ahead and argue that.

fishing was fun when i first started... but then i realized how long it took to gain a decimal of a point, etc etc... so i stopped and started doing other crafts.

would you know what "kind" of changes SE plans on making with fishing?

but yeah... lazy players make excuses" because of just that. they're lazy. most complaining about the fact that they just stand there and press a button every few seconds to fish... and sometimes not be able to catch anything... or catch but not leveling your skill, etc etc. or maybe because fish bots are more successful and they're not, so they're jealous and cry about it.

i... don't... know -_-;

Apparently they plan to make fishing more interactive so you have to "fight" with your line and pull in the fish at certain times depending on its "size" and other junk to make fishing take more time to actually pull in a fish.

They already hurt the fishers enough making us pull in mobs on an average of 5-6 per hour... casting sneak or fishing these mobs takes time, not only does that take time but thats 5-6 extra casts that don't have a chance of being a fish... stop screwing with fishing... SE already decimated like 80% of the fishing community over the past 6months and I have news for you...95% of those people were the honest fishermen that didn't run scripts and bots unattended.

This latest patch got rid of a lot of fish botters (because of the mobs getting pulled up and sneak fishing) but as you can see... Port Windurst is still going strong.

Anyways... thats my rant on Fishing... this thread isn't just about people being too lazy to fish and complaining about it though. I wanna hear some other places you have seen lazy players make excuses and some alternative opinions ^^

People who ask for 100 gil when they can just go outside, kill ten beastmen and keep their dignity.

Decidence, aren't you a whiny sloth for not adapting yourself to the new reality? You're just as bad as the people who complained in the first place. But now that it's affecting you and not them, you're the one to bring his whiny ass up front.

Grow up. All MMORPGs will shaft a certain player base at some point or another, whether it's job, trade skill, farming, harvesting, NM camping... If you can't adapt yourself, then you're as lazy as those people you're pointing out.

Um when have I ever NOT adapted to new changes... SE changes fishing almost every patch and I adapt while others quit. Please shutup if you don't know what your talking about...

Do you understand what this topic is about? "Lazy players make excuses" not "Lazy players whine".

No matter what changes are made lazy players will always have little money and a lot of excuses to do with every reason why their poor and want SE to change the game again.

Sorry for talking about the consequences you so elegantly complained about rather than the cause which you've put in the title of the thread.

You think its fair then that patch after patch they nerf fishing? That whiny lazy players (probably like yourself since you seem so offended by this post) complain about not being able to make money because everything is "boring" or whatever else stupid reasons and have changes made to the game that inevitably won't make them any happier?

Sorry again for pulling a WSM. But I figured I failed to point out the irony of your position the first time around Decidence.

So basically, you'd prefer if you had less to do for more profit. People complained about botting because they hated seeing lazier people than themselves making more profit, and were too lazy to work more than those ugly script-running sloths. And in return, Squenix did a lazy update screwing around honest players, who'd prefer the easier old ways over the new because they now have more work to do for the same end result.

You're using lazy players for an excuse for being forced to do work you're not supposed to deal with.

Okay, I missed that part the first time around, I admit it. To contribute, I can say I've had my fill of L40> players who don't bring Sneak Oils and Prism Powders on friggin' missions, rather relying on WHMs and RDMs for casting and re-casting their spells for a long run up the second half of Deflkutt.

All i know is they fucked Argus and any other NM that spawns in a pretty close spot (Mee Deegi, Hoo Mjoo) all because of whiny little bitches, and it's bullshit. :x

Me? Lazy? Yes! I try to find stuff that brings me lots of moolah for little effort too! But do I whine about the AH "nerf"? Nuh-huh! Do I whine about bots who brought about nerfs to fishing after I got it up to 27 before the last patch? Nope! Will I continue leveling fishing up? Yupper!

Why? Because I like doing it!

I'm a proponent of fun. I do activities that are fun over those that are profitable. That's why you won't catch me camping NMs, and doing simpler activities, while trying not to overstep other people. When I farm bees in Giddeus, I leave the lowbie area to people leveling there, knowing that's where I'd get up to L10 myself if given the chance. But if I see none, why keep myself away from the juicy drops?

I enjoy farming, also exploring new farming grounds. If I didn't like it, and didn't find an alternative to making Gil, guess what? This lazy bloke would leave the game, pure and simple. But I've found my niche, and I'm here to stay.

That's why I most often laugh when people complain about something that got changed for being less effective than before. It's mostly players who don't want to be forced into doing more work, and they usually put the blame on others rather than themselves for using a loophole. Yes, some patches to fishing are hard to understand, like dropping the price on some high-end fish instead of making them less available in non-aggro zones, but I'm sure Squenix has its reasons... Maybe there was a problem of too much Gil introduced into the economy... But what do I know? I don't know what's the net worth of each and every player on Quetzalcoatl!

I'll agree with you that melee need to carry Sneak Oils and Prism Powders but even worse is mages that shout this opinion at melee when they themselves aren't carrying 1) Pies, 2) Juices (Yes, carry them even w/ a rdm or brd in the pt), and 3) Echo Drops. You get silenced and 9/10 you have become worthless because you need someone else to help you out. Don't expect melee to carry 1) Food (Depending on Job), 2) Good gear (When mages can get away with shitty gear up to their AF), and 3) Silent Oils/Prism Powders.

When it comes to getting to a location for a party or when coffer hunting, keep in mind that you can't handle shit without a tank and a few DD. If you're all at the same level, just throw a Invis and Sneak on them. Not like you can't rest soon anyway (Or throw on those juices you *should* have). Besides, you need us like we need you. I've played both ends of the spectrum and I have to say that mages talk alot of shit (myself included) and can rarely back it up. I have only met a few mages that carried the best pies, drinks, and echo drops on them but I always have food, great gear, and silent oils. Don't always expect me to bring my A game when I know I should be expecting the performance of a retarded monkey on your part.

"Rawr...Watch me cast Freeze."
"We just pulled it! The Paladin hasn't even voked it!"
"...."
Black Mage casts Freeze.
Black Mage dies.
"W T F?!!?!oneone11 Stupid Paladin, can't hold hate."

OR

Monster casts Silence on Black Mage.
"Silenced!"
"Use a Echo Drop?"
"I'm not made of money!"
A raise and 15 minutes later.
Monks Sneak wears off.
Monster attacks Monk.
Monk dies.
"WTH weren't you using Silent Oils!?"
"...."[/quote]

The worst part is the guy who I was thinking about actually had Gil on him, for doing BCNMs earlier in the week. We told him upfront to bring some Oils and Prisms. He just didn't feel like wasting the Gil when there was a WHM in the group for ranks 4 and 5. His excuse?

"I need all the Gil I can get for upgrading my gear, why waste it?"

He also owed the same WHM 5k Gil, which he only reimbursed after we twisted his arm. Since then he left the LS seconds before the leader booted him out. He finally got the message that his baditude and putting down of anyone who disagreed with him wasn't welcome in-game. He's not someone on this forum if you were wondering. Vang's tame here compared to him.

What it breaks down to is people just not doing their job. No class is worse than any other. And yes mages can get away with crappier gear BUT: It's harder for a BLM to farm than melee, and we have to spend a lot of our money on spells that we can never sell again. And I've always had the best gear that I could afford.

Also, yeah a dumb mage casts freeze early and dies. MAGE'S FAULT. But don't rush me into starting the distortion SC when the mob still has 3/4 health either.

I remember when I was going for Rank 4 while we were getting a party together I asked if I should buy some silent oil and prism powder in /p chat and the red mage told me not to and he would handle it. I had never really at this point been in an area that I absolutly needed these items and I never had the experience of having a Red Mage cast on me so call me ignorant/innocent. Well we evntually gathered a whole party and for whatever reason the spells the red mage casted on me would only last maybe a minute before wearing off so we ended up fighting our whole way up. I felt like such an idiot. When the red mage said he would take care of it we only had 4 members in the group and the final 2 were asking me why I didn't buy any... Never again will I not take some prism powders and silent oil with me. I really felt awful that night... Lesson learned.

Yea, our spells are very unstable. The first time I ran up the tower for Rank 4 we had no problems with me sneak/invis. The second time I went up to help the spell would wear shortly after casting.

Here's a little tidbit guys (in case you didn't already know). Your spells also last according to what day it is. Darksday is the worst. Sometimes a spell that will last all the way thru, let's say, Kuftal Tunnel on a normal day, will only last about 5 steps on Darksday.

Yup I figured that it had to do with the day... Just to clarify I am not blaming anyone but myself. I just felt horrible but it was an honest mistake. I offered to disband and warp out but the were gracious enough to continue.

Now now... BLMs complain that Melee have it easy by having no trouble fighting tougher monsters for farming... And Melees complain that BLMs have it easy by being able to train weaker monsters and just -ga them. A lot of both complain about the prices of a WHM's Teleport service. Even about how a BST or BRD have it easy with BCNM invites.

I don't complain about those, but I will complain about the next two:

BLMs who train through AN ENTIRE ZONE before finally putting monsters to rest, and then complain whenever someone picks ONE SINGLE MONSTER off their train. What's 1/30 less profit when you lay the claim to owning every mob in a dungeon in spite of having only engaged one?!?

But worse... Melees who think they can do the same BUT DON'T EVEN USE A SINGLE AoE WEAPONSKILL!!! And then they simply kill each monster one by one, barking at anyone who dares to kill another. For what? That 3-4 seconds lost when you draw your weapon out?!?
