I cant find info about this anywhere(didn't look here>.>; ) so i decided to inform you all of a Theory(not necessarily a truth, but seems to work for me) about spawning Leaping Lizzy quickly and efficiently.

the 5-1-5:
Sub Ranger and head out to South Gustaberg, you've got a date with a rediculously named lizard, and no time to waste. When you arrive, if noone is killing lizards(this is the hard part... getting the people to not kill any). Pop your Wide Scan and look at the list. it should come up with something like this(shortened for lack of finger painD: )
"Amber Quadav"
"Walking Sapling"
"Rock Lizard"
"Rock Lizard"
"Walking Sapling"
"Vulture"
"Amethyst Quadav"
"Rock Lizard"
"Rock Lizard"
"Rock Lizard"
"Rock Lizard"
"Rock Lizard"*
"Amethyst Quadav"
(* - Place Holder)
followed by some more random mobs including another grouping of 5 lizards all in a row.
The Lizard marked above is the PH for lizzy and the only one you need to kill for a quick and easy LL spawn. Track that mother, kill it, and pop off sharpshot. Why sharpshot? because sharpshot has a 5 minute timer, and the lizards take approx. 5 minutes to respawn. Now you can go do whatever for 4:45 seconds, then come back and spam widescan, as another PH or lizzy herself will spawn soon. The only catch is that if any other lizards are killed during this time, Lizzy is much less likely to spawn.

Hope this helps, happy hunting, and good luck keeping those lizards alive;)

This is what we like to call "the secret that gives those who know an edge while noobs kill everything, thinking they're all the PH". =P Almost every NM works in this way, though. Amemet, VE, Deggi...

yeah, but unfortunately those noobs always mess it up ; ;

Funnier yet, you could tell most of them about how PHs and such work and 90% will call you a liar.

another side note about leaping lizzy. There are technically 2 of em. Only one can spawn at a time though. Thats one of the reasons that the spawn time is random. Packet sniffers and other botting software tend to have trouble with lizzy because of the fact that there are 2 seperate ones.

with this method you can pop either, though^^ something to note, lizzy can spawn in two places on wide scan, the first grouping of 5 as #5 or the second grouping as #6, depending on which lizzy it is. 1 spawns at the top of the hill(first group) and another anywhere below the hill(second group)

Also a note about LL that i have witnessed many times after weeks of camping. that since there are 2 spawn points you can kill 1 and if your lucky a second can spawn with 10-15 minutes. once that second one spawns though. the next spawn won't be until 60-90 minutes

Its hard to keep track sometimes with everyone killing all of them >.> Oh well my camping days of LL are over

This is because there are 2 leaping lizzies

It doesn't matter if people are killing the lizards if you have a timer, or maybe you have never thought about using a real clock instead of a JA.

Oh and the 2nd LL can spawn anywhere in the map grid, not just the bottom of the hill, and there is also one spawn for LL that is actually outside of the "known" spawn area. To be honest though LL is {Too weak} to camp, I don't understand why people have so many problems with it.

The most useful thing about knowing the PH is that if you are a bst and you need to afk, you can just charm the PH, 2hr, and you have a guaranteed 30 minutes where the nm can't spawn to go do whatever you want/need to do. I did this multiple times while camping VE when something came up at work where I had to pay attention for a while, haha.

Hard to do when said nubs are killing all the phs.

/fume

About 2 months ago I had a post involving PH's and NM's (specifically VE) and The only replies were "haha. I got the hairpin. you need th2" .. I was only trying to have a smart conversation without anyone flaunting their e-penis in it.. sadly couldnt get it.

Like was said earlier, there are place holders for many NM's. VE, LL, Orctrap, Enkenlados.. just a matter of figuring out the pattern.

Leaping Lizzy aside, I'm 99% sure every NM that lotto pops off a mob has one, and only one, placeholder. And even in Lizzy's case there's only two, because, well, yeah.

Can anyone educate the noob campers(myself) about what is a PH? and how it works, I didn't quite get it from the OP's statement, is it associated with the mob's family type?

A "placeholder" is a relic from older MMORPGs, like Everquest, which is in turn a relic from the oldest text-based muds.

Basically, when there's a "family" of mobs that spawn in a specific area that includes a RARE spawn of the same family, there will generally only be ONE specific mob that's "holding the place" of that rare spawn.

For example:

Say there are 12 normal rock lizards within Leaping Lizzy's spawn area at any given time. I'm not sure of the exact number ... I'm just using the number as an example. Most of the time, there will just be the 12 normal lizards ... once in a while, however, the rare spawn will pop in place of one of the normals. That would give us 11 regulars, one Lizzy.

Whenever one of these mobs is killed, you see, an exact, measurable amount of time will pass before a replacement is spawned.

What makes the placeholder so unique is the fact that it is actually the "normal version" of the rare spawn you're looking for ... the only time the notorious monster can ever be persuaded to spawn in the place of one of the normals is if you kill that placeholder. No other lizard "slot" will produce Leaping Lizzy, EVER ... the other 11 would be a waste of time. If you have the patience to watch and discover which specific mob is the placeholder, it means you've got a lot less work to do.

As for myself, I understood the fact that Leaping Lizzy almost certainly only had one placeholder when I was camping her for my own boots, but the fact that I had no idea which one was "the" one meant that I was stuck clearing them all out like a dip. T_T
