First DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 hit today. The new campaign features a meeting between the Pennsylvania Survivors(L4Ds Zoey, Francis, Bill, and Louis) and the Georgia/NAWLINS Survivors.

Also, the main reason for this thread. LEFT 4 DEAD 2 on Steam is only $20 until Monday. If you were like me and avoided the game because of it's $50 price tag after getting sorta burnt on continued support for L4D 1, now's the time to pick it up. It's currently retailing out-of-sale for $30 as well. Either way, it's definitely worth picking up now.

Story-wise, one of the original survivors dies. If you've played Crash Course, the second DLC for Left 4 Dead 1, you know who it is since they didn't get ANY new lines.
Spoiler:
It's Bill.

There will also be a not-too-distant-future DLC release for Left 4 Dead 1 that acts as a lead in to The Passing.

Also, Rock Band Network will host two songs for download by the Midnight Riders, a totally not made up band featured in Left 4 Dead 2 that isn't Valve's Music Director.

Actually, since I was going to gift a copy to a friend, I think I'll just get three others and hold myself a little contest to distribute the other three copies. First, you must add me to your Steam friends list(just to verify you actually use Steam.) Second, PM me either over QCDN or Steam your system specs. You gotta be able to run it dudes. SecondThird, you must explain(post here, not message me on Steam,) in whatever fanciful or factual way you must, what you would do if you found yourself in the Zombie Apocalypse, and how you would go about picking three others to band together with to fight for survival. Example: Skills/Career such as Doctor to keep everyone healthy, or MMA star to keep the Zeds away. The better you go in to it, the more likely you are to win. I will not exclude bare minimal effort though if it's humorous enough. This will run until Sunday, at 8 PM EST.

Depending on entries, I will choose my favorite three, or I might set up a poll for the community to vote on who has the best/most disasterous course of action in the Zombocalypse. Obviously if only three of you mooks participate the copies are yours.

To add me to your Steam friends list follow this link.

yay frank west. He's funny in TvC

Just played the new campaign through on expert :3 epic fun. The finale was wild. I love how Zoey was throwing health down sometimes :) saved my ass.

But why did he have to die? :( that's not cool

Because their voice actor doesn't want more money or something.

Also you have to play Mutation mode this week. It's Realism Versus and it fixes everything wrong with Versus. No longer is the big pay keeping the other team from making it to the safe house, it's having your team actually make it to the safe house.

I played two games, out of the 8 rounds, only once did a team make it to the safe house, and it was on Dead Center 1. And they were barely limping towards it one more good attack would've done them in.

The Jockey is literally the most powerful SI in Realism Versus.

Sounds pretty awesome :3 I still want my epic survival horror mode where guns are more limited and no unlimited ammo stockpiles. Basically you have to make use of every single bullet wisely :)

As a game programmer and designer, I'm not much of a fighter, but I understand how the zombies think.. both due to having created games featuring zombies, as well as the number of nights I've pulled all-nighters to get everything done.
To defeat your enemy you must know your enemy, and the last 3 weeks of April are an unending hell filled with late nights, too much Mountain Dew, and the stench of the fallen... or maybe that's freshmen who don't feel the need to shower; I can't be sure which.

But fortunately, what I lack in defenses and medicine, I can remedy with people I know. Two of my good friends are doctors, one a general practitioner and the other a neurologist. Since the zombie's power seems centered on the brain, a neurologist may be able to counter the effects, given the resources.
If not, they can probably swing a pair of mean scalpels.

As for the fourth person for our crew, I don't think I would pick one to begin with. Why? Because you always find some crazy beatnik in a gun shop, holed up with 10 shotguns and buckets of ammo. I don't know anyone that crazy, so I'd hold out until we did find him/her.
I live in Seattle, so we have a lot of hippies, but I'm sure there are some gun nuts hidden here. I'll just have to wait until the crowd is thinned out to find 'em.

And nobody is doing this so far? Tsk.

Zombie Apocalypse, eh?

Well, here it goes.

FIRST COMPANION!
My first choice would definitely be Jackie Chan. Not only does Mr. Chan come with Kung Fu Action Grip, his ability to turn every-day objects into weapons of grevious bodily harm would prove immensely valuable in situations where ammunition is running low and the zombie horde shows no sign of abating.

SECOND COMPANION!
Number 2 is Will Farrel. Every group needs some comic relief, especially in a situation as grave (lol) as the Zombie Apocalypse. Mr. Farrel's true value lies in the fact that over the course of his acting career, he has appeared in so many mind-numbingly horrible 'comedies' that his brain (along with the brains of his viewers) has atrophied to the point that it can no longer be considered viable. This renders him effectively invisible to a typical zombie (as he would provide no sustenance) and it allows him to pass through the horde unnoticed.

THIRD COMPANION!
Thirdly, I'd bring along Richard Dean Anderson. Between portraying Jack O'Neill on Stargate and MacGuyver on MacGuyver, Mr. Anderson has accrued a nearly encyclopedic knowledge, as well as training with various combat techniques and futuristic weaponry. The man is a walking "How-To" book on any subject one could imagine. There is no such thing as a locked door, food cache, or militia armory when this man is around. He could walk into a junkyard and come back out in his very own twenty-foot-tall-fusion-powered-laser-rifle-equipped-titanium-reinforced-exoskeleton. Unfortunately, this also comes at a price. Due to his hyperactive cortex, he acts as a homing beacon for zombies, drawing zombies from miles away.

One hour to go and only two entries? Tisk, tisk. It's like you guys DON'T want a free game.

Contest over, only two entries, so only two free copies. Everyone elses one-chance-to-win loss.

i woulda entered but i only play on xbox and dont use steam :) nice of you to even have the contest at all tho!

Spoiler:
Damn it Bill.

Is it just me or is this a harder campaign than the others? I was playing with some friends and we usually breeze through Realism and we were having a hard time just on Advanced at first.

Some of the Tank spawns are ruthless with escape routes.

Awesome.

Thanks for your generosity, Skaw.
