So my work talked me into going on this business trip to seattle.

Our secretary booked us two red eye flights without realizing that there is a 3 hour difference between philly and seatlle (way to go temp agency help).

so our flight is at 815, and gets pushed back to board at 845. Then we wait in line on the runway for a good 45 minutes. We fly through a storm which scared the piss out of me, and every time i tried to fall asleep we would get mad turbulance. worst flight ever. I never get sick flying and honestly I almost barfed into the guy next to me's lap.

We pull into vegas on a connecting flight, and end up having to wait in the plane foe another half hour because of all the weather all the flights are running late.

We think we missed our flight, so we run down to find out whats up, only to find out that the flight has been delayed because our plane hadnt even showed up yet. awesome.

all in all, we pull into seattle at 4am, pst. we get our rent a car and get into the hotel at about 515.

i have to go to the place at 830 am now to meet a bunch of people that im going to be working for. I'm afraid to go to sleep because it will just wear me out more.. so i took a shower and im drinking some coffee. We do another red eye tuesday night, but I already gave my boss a heads up that there is NO way im coming into work on wednesday.

Then i have three days vacation, so wh00t for that.

I'm not doing this again. Never again. I havent slept more than 6 hours in five days and maybe 2 in the last 24 and now i have to go kiss some ass running on nothing but breakfast buffet and coffee. I wonder how long I can keep the really sarcastic mean comments from coming out of my mouth. What an ass I'm going to make out of myself today.

Lets hear it!

It's not so bad. I'm a very very big fan of Death metal and all sub genres and I dress the part as well. For the past 5 years I have had an office job in which I hated at first but realized "You gotta do what you gotta do". It pays the bills, rent, car, and lots left over for fun just because I don't mind wearing slacks and button ups from 8-5. Had I not wised up I'd be working 8pm-4am shit shifts at Burger King making 5.25 an hour and being the cool guy all the kids want to be like, , with long hair, cut off green shorts, smoking a cig saying "Yo guys keep it real don't let the man get you down". It's not conforming it's in reality growing up and not being stubborn to your duties or lazy. 8-5 business, 5:30-2A.M. me. If you can find a cool job that lets you be you that's great but most people don't and will never have the luxery of that happening.

Sounds Fun Panda

But if it makes you feel any better I found you a new Avatar :D

Hmm.. this wasnt really waht i meant by not conforming..

I still dy emy hair pink and red on occasion. I don't have to get dressed up for work (jeans and tshirt 4tw). I work in a room with 7 other people and do nothing but crack your mom jokes all day and throw things at each other.

I guess what i meant by not conforming is giving into every one of my company's little "do this for us" demands without getting the pay or the recognition I deserve. I'm working in Seattle right now literally on ONE hour of sleep because my boss and his secratary are jerks, thus spawning more of an internal battle within the members of my small company even further tearing us apart.

I mean i'm literally seeing things becasue I'm so tired. And I have to go to a business lunch.

I actually spent teh whole morning with the girl that im going to be working for, and I'm not as angry as I was earlier. The company that I'm visiting is full of really freaking cool people (all art fags like mee.. they speak to me in pantone color terms and talk about cobranding and marketing audience for a good half hour) my new boss is going to be an awesome japanese chick, and the guys here are really hot (well, a perk, though i wont be WORKING in seattle, its good to know a few hot art fags have my back).

I guess I'm just sick of working for a company who wont fire their most incompetant member of the team because he's the incompetant HR person's brother, then shafting me out of my raise because they don't train their members and let peoples mistakes that lost us over 700k just slide like water under the bridge.

I'm going to have to learn to deal with it, yes, thats corporate america, but it doesnt mean that I can't quit jobs until I find one I'm happy at, or at least move out to seattle to hang out with these people instead..

Yes and No.

But if you lose that mentality entirely you WILL get paid more in the future. In truth as you move up, you get paid very little for what you do, and you get recognized even less. There is a point in any company that everything turns around and you start getting raises for things other people do, at that point you realize what i'm talking about.

EVeryone has to do excatly what your talking about, hopefully you realize that and move past this point in whatever carrer your in and move up to the area that you benefit more than you need to pay out.

As most things in life you need to pay your dues first. Sometimes you never get paid back but life is a gamble my friend. And you don't stop playing because the odds are against you.

I have alot of friends like that. They go into job after job after job, i'ved stayed at one. Maybe i'm lucky, maybe I know what I'm talking about, but I do know I make triple what they do now when they used to make double what I did and called me a "fool" for staying at my job.

Oh well, I always did consider myself fortunate even when others didn't think so.
