If your in a pt level 60+, level 50+ even, FIND YOUR OWN BLOODY REPLACEMENT, dont ask the rest of the pt to do it for fuck sakem you do it you lazy bastard. I always find my own replacements, why doesnt everybody? If your in a pt and you have to leave thats fair enough, but find your own replacement, dont ask the pt unless its a dire emergency and you have to leave right there. Seriously, stop being lazy a holes and find your own replacements

I will never invite someone to replace me unless I can confirm every member will be staying 2 hours at least. And on top of that if I'm playing a high demand job like Ninja for example it's not always possible.
It's the responsibility of the LEADER to find the replacement, not the member. The leader can decide who is right for the party, or if it's time the end the party. Just saying "oh I'm leaving, my replacement is here," when I'm leading a party and might be disbanding in 40 mins or so is bullcrap.

I check with the party whenever I am ready to pack it in. I usually give a 40 min warning, and ask if they are staying for longer than an hour. I take care of my own replacement as well, but it's a bit easier since PLD's are often found. I also let the replacement know that the party might disband soon, so it's up to them if they want to join.

I used to get my own replacements whenever I can. I generally ask how much longer everyone has and ask if they would like me to find a replacement if its a long time. Sometimes I get it set up, then the whole Party is about to disband as that guy comes and then I look like an ass.

So, I've started it this way.... if I'm going to be going and I know I'm going to be leaving, I ask the party leader if I can find a replacement for me. I find the replacement and then tell them to communicate with the Party Leader. Seems to work out well.

Hehe I find this kinda funny.

I dont mean to insult you or anything but your a DRK, at any given time there are DRK's looking for a party at almost any level range, so for you to find a replacement for yourself is cake.

I play WHM and I always try to party for several hours and give a fair hour or so warning before I leave. I will search for a replacment if I can, but high demand such as a tank or a WHM are a rarity. So I don't think the person should be blamed if they cant find a replacment if there is no one seeking.

I know its easier for me, but at least try, most people who ask dont even bother trying, they just leave it on the leader, up and quit the pt like that.

lol hope your not talking about me cuase i suggested PLD's and i coulda asked. i also stayed til the PLD got there lol.

No its just in general

The CORRECT way to replace yourself.

I tend to replace myself if the party asks me to. I only got so long to xp though. If I'm around for a few hours or a lot of hours I let the pt know. If i can't replace myself the leader was given at LEAST two hours notice of when I'd be gone.

Personally I don't see how someone can concentrate on the party and look for a replacement at the same time. Also makes me mad when someone just anounces out of the blue that they got too go without saying a word about it before they do and has a replacement on the way. Hell what about the other party's thoughts. Don't we get a say. Some of us are tired too and may want too leave.

I always do and always will. I search for a replacement until I hit disband.

Better idea?! How about you schedule a party to last for a certain amount of time? Its custom to party 3 hours at the least. People who dont piss me off, ESPECIALLY when its right after they level. 3 hours when you need 20k+ is enough to get that level in a good party. If someone has to leave after the 3 hours, then the party can go back to Jeuno and reform.

Fae

It depends on the party. There are times where you have to leave the game earlier than you thought (you forgot about that doctor's appointment later today, or your LS desperately needs your help with a quest/mission, or your boy/girlfriend decided to surprise you by taking you out to dinner, or one of your family members has a heart attack and needs immediate paramedic attention, or lightning struck the phone line running to your computer and electrocuted you and you need immediate medical help... you know, odd stuff like that). So, here's what I think you should do:

-Inform the party that you'll be leaving, and when you'll be leaving. Give as large of a warning as possible; an hour is preferred, half an hour is acceptable, anything less is bad unless it's a serious emergency. Ask the party leader if you should find a replacement for yourself, and what job/level you should look for - the party leader might have something specific in mind for what should replace you, and you need to make sure you get something that works. Also make sure that everyone is staying long enough to warrant getting a replacement.

If the party will disband when you leave, don't worry about it. If possible, stay long enough so that everyone that's close to leveling can get their level. If you can't, though, don't worry about it. If the party is staying together and the leader wants you to replace yourself, make sure the person you get knows that they're joining as a replacement, and tell him/her how much longer the party will stay together.

As party leader, I don't always like the replacements that people find for me.

But I find it odd that such ado is made over finding replacements. First of all, I am always up front about how long I have to level. When the party is forming, I make sure everyone knows how long I have. When that time comes, I'm done unless someone is close to leveling (leaving a party when someone is 200 tnl is just rude).

The other odd part is that I have been in very few parties (outside of the Dunes anyway) that don't disband when a member has to leave. Of the few I stayed in, only a couple have been worth a damn once a replacement is found. In both of those cases, the guy who left was a guy everyone wanted to get rid of.

So let's just say I don't understand it. I'm more angry with the people who decide they want to form a party with only forty five minutes to play. Plus, whenever I get an invite from someone, the first question out of my mouth is "is this a new party or am I a replacement?" Unless I have a very low demand job (like DRG, for instance), I will never accept an invite to be someone's replacement.

i hate it when they find their own replacement w/o asking, because sometimes they invite someone with a job that i do not prefer.

Proper communication is the best way to go about handling replacements. When the leader is creating the pt, he should ask everyone he's inviting how much time they have to play, taking into consideration how much more time it will require to finish putting the pt together, deciding on a camp, and actually getting there (ie having the correct supplies or whatever else is needed and not dicking around, which is another discussion altogether).

Once the pt gets to camp, reconfirm in /p how long everyone can stay. Attempt to determine how long the pt should last. If you know that random DD #2 is leaving in 2 hours and everyone wants to pt 5 hours, you can plan accordingly how to go about replacing him. If it's random tank or random healer, you can take into consideration that they will be harder to replace and compensate for it. Also, if someone has to leave in 2 hours and everyone else wanted to play 3 hours you know it's not worth wasting someone's time trying to get a replacement. Just play the 2 hours and disband.

It also doesn't hurt to confirm playtime every hour or so, during downtime (like after a chain or waiting for a mob to repop). Sometimes people start to get tired or for other reasons lose some of their time. While optimally they will just announce this to the group, you can't always count on that. All of this may sound tedious, but it's really not and if the whole group knows exactly how time is supposed to be managed then getting a replacement should be easy and painless. This should work well in any situation except for emergencies where something comes up that requires a member to leave immediately.

Who the hell cares really? It's not like there's a book written on the subject. Just be flexible. Notify the party of your intentions, help look for a replacement if a replacement is necesary. End of story, not that hard.

I'm against finding replacements at 50+ or so. Why?

1 - There are 3 main reasons people leave parties, and a replacement can come along. First is the party has lasted a while, and the person is tired of exp. Second, either the exp sucks, or the person dislikes the party. Third, some emergency has come up. If it's the first or second reason, do you really wanna be that replacement coming in?

2 - When one person leaves, the party normally dies in less than 2 hours, often much sooner. There is no leveling spot 50+ that you can get to in under 10 minutes, and several can take up to half an hour. Do you want to be that person that spends half an hour traveling to exp for less than an hour?

3 - When most people find their own replacement, it's a rushed, half assed job to get the best person that is immediately available. You're fighting toramas, and your 62 thf has just replaced himself with a 60 drk. Your exp is gonna drop dramatically, and after spending half an hour traveling time, your party will break in shortly after the drk takes over.

What's the solution? Make sure before you leave jeuno that everyone has a few hours to exp. That way, you can get some good exp, and when someone leaves, you can go back to jeuno, and if one or more people want more exp, you can build the party back replacing the people leaving.

Replacement? [No, thanks]... If I want to disband, I will give a warning like 30min to disband (At least I have play for more than 2hr, not just 30-60min and then i want to disband). And I do feel it is kinda rude to find a replacement without telling the leader. Some of your member PT also might want to disband after when you want to disband too. Let the leader decide about it and just don't do this on your own.
