I hit level 66 Goldsmithing as of yesterday, and needless to say, it was ridiculously expensive.

I used up 12 stacks of Platinum Ingots, which runs from 520-550k per stack (equivalent to ~6.2-6.3 million). To get from 64-66, and I lost ~3 stacks during the process. That's right! That's how EXPENSIVE it is. And I'm looking at a whole inventory of Platinum earrings and Rings that WON"T sell. If you check the history, a few sells every 4-14 days. Only high level Goldsmithers will buy these, and I only know a handful that are level 90+ to 102.

I was planning on hitting 70 this week but that is 100% not going to happen. /sigh. Break these back into Ingot? Then I'm looking at a total lost of 6 million because I'll eventually lose all of them. This will be the equivalent of throwing 2 Haubert+1 away. Or 2 Royal Cloaks... /sigh.

I better start making money again.

Sounds to me as though Goldsmithing will never be more than a dream to me. I can't imagine dropping that much money on synthing for 2 lvl gains.

I hear you, I dropped Goldsmith at level 15 cause it was already getting too expensive for me.

Crafting is really more a passion then a money making thing, it is almost impossible to make money. But hey, you're 66 in GS, not a lot of people can say that! :)

Unless you have time and money to burn, it definitely sounds like you've gone far enough.

Good luck.

You can do it qq! =O

I still have to finish off cooking -.-... why? I don't even know haha.

Aren't you at 100 cooking?

100-1, haha. I think i'm somewhere between 99.2 or 99.3. Too lazy to farm royal jelly :?

I have 4 crafting character.

QQ, wouldn't one of the gold items from 69-72 be cheaper to make? I haven't gotten there yet, so I haven't price checked everything. I'm still stuck at 56 GS until I can get 1-2 mil gil for my 50-60 BRD equipment.

edit: scratch that... with the lowered price of nuggets and ores, it's actually cheaper to make plat ingots than gold ingots now. At least it was the last time I looked. Are you buying your ingots or making them?

I'll have to buy the ingots soon, lol. Now let me go make some gil first.

Ya I started GS cuz I wanted the glasses, got poor, stopped......but now I'm at lvl 30 cooking and making small profits.....once I hit 38 cooking and safe from failing, ill start KA-bobs /drools ...that's when the cash'll flow in

Profit margin on kabobs is tiny, unless you farm your own meat, which IMO just isn't worth it.

QQ has been playing forever i belive, my friend who started after me imo, is now a level 75 paladin with 100 lv GS, and he says yes, it does get really broing at level 75.
