I'm leveling SCH, and I'm curious about what gear I should be shooting for for a 75 job. Light arts gear I should be able to figure out, but what I'm curious about is the Dark Arts gear.

Obviously HQ staves/moldavite(still need to get it)/int rings. I'm using a wizard's earring now for the 5 more elemental skill when I'm subbing blm, but would I want to replace that with something else?

Most of the other spots, I'd just think to stack as much +ele skill/Int gear I could, but then I saw the Oracle body has MAB+6. But maybe I'm wrong, or there's something else to go there. I'd even like some ideas for lower level gear that I might pass by but would be really badass, just in case I miss something.

This seems a good place to post this:

My current gear (still working a lot on it, just come back from a 4 month break)

Staves: HQ Ice, Dark, Lightning, NQ everything else (current priority), Kirin's Pole
INT and MP strap thing (looking into the elemental MACC ones)
Phantum Tathlum
AF Head
Elemental Torque
Moldy/Loq
AF Body
Vicious Mufflers
Tamas/Snow
Prism Cape
Ocean Rope
Mahatma Slops
AF Feet (I need Yigit or Goliard badly ; ; )

I was thinking of getting an Ugg Pendant and obviously the HQ staves and probably the elemental grips. What else is worth getting? If I get back into Dyna/limbus my main priorites would be upgrading AF head and body and getting the AF2 belt.

Any tips?

That should be helpful info in regards to resist rates. If you're looking for gear in regards to nuking, try to gear yourself similar to BLM, go for Elemental skill, INT and MAB with more emphasis on MAB > INT > Elemental for experience. For larger things like HNM and gods, try to stick to the 320 Elemental Skill and 120 INT rule which might be difficult for SCHs more than it is for BLM. On much larger stuff like Kirin though, (check site listed above) INT yields more benefit than stacking Elemental Skill.

Beyond that, I'd gear myself like this:

HQ Staff/Bugar Strap+1
Phantom Tathlum
Sch. Mortarboard+1
Prudence Torque
Novio/Moldavite
Sch Gown+1
Vicious Mufflers
INT Ring x2
Prism Cape
Argute Belt
Mahatma Slops
RSE feet

For HNMs, I'd switch in more INT and Elemental skill, but I'd imagine if you're soloing, this should provide a decent elemental skill to avoid significant resists on Puddings and Wamoura provided you're fully meritted. Not sure exactly the stats you'd need to get to 320/120 range, but switch MAB earrings for Phantom(+1) and Wizard Earring, Vicious Muffler for Mahatma Cuffs and an INT ring for Omega Ring. Not sure what else to do beyond that.

Obviously, it'll take some effort to get to this point, but pretty sure you're active or could be active in the events for those items.

Most of that stuff works out but some alternatives to vicious mufflers are
Goliard Cuffs (I take that +4% mag acc over 1% dmg unless it's something weak like puddings etc) Yigit hands are pretty good too +5MND/INT and MAB+2
For pure resist build genie gages are very valuable since you can't find 8 elemental skill on any other set of hands useable by SCH

Don't forget the appropriate obi's too.

As for earrings, I saw loquacious being suggested which is good at the start of a cast but won't help dmg wise, so either novio/abyssal/phantom hell even morion earring would help.

Just out of curiosity how often do you /blm? I did it once or twice but just felt too squishy.

Never.

I only really need gearing up for soloing. Just come back from a break so I don't do anyform of end game at the moment. If I did it'd only be limbus and dynamis at first. HNM's I've never done and never would do. I just don't have the time for them.

Was poking more at Baj. Sorry Sharpe.

Personally, I feel all I'm lacking on my sch now is af+1 hat/body relic hat/body and prudence/novio/merciful

Pretty much every time that I plan on nuking instead of healing. Unless my tank sucks, I wait a little bit for hate to be established then start nuking. I already know I won't last many hits once I pull hate, so I try not to pull hate often if I can help it.

Hmmm. I am a 75 sch! I'd say get the best gear you can get for the job. Iono your relic. +1 your af body and hat <3. Hmmm Elemental Torque, Enfeeb torque, Pent rope (or af relic belt if you get it). Goliard or however you spell it (Goliard Feet, hands, body is hawt! Um Sorry I'm at school right now can't really think of anything else besides needing moldy and HQ staves lol. Oh merit elemental magic/enfeeb depending on how you want to focus on sch or whatever jobs ya got.

I use af head, relic body, af pants, and the rest is just like random mp stuff for light arts and i have a build to get 320 elemental magic and 120 int for dark arts. Obi's work very nicely <3

Don't forget that Mag Acc+ is (for the most part) = to elemental magic skill when trying to reach the 320/120 rule.

af1 hat
af2body
(those two for 4mp/tic sublimation)
alot of the other gear a good idle would be anything that boosts HP and MP gear, since sublimation goes off ur HP. the higher HP you have the more you'll receive from sublimation at a time.
obi's are gods gift to sch since a sch is able to give the weather for obi. when farming sea items i was nuking sharks for 200-300 more w/ the correct obi. was pure sexiness. altrustic cape is always nice to help bump up that enfeebling magic skill
