I have started leveling my war recently. Despite the fact that I wanted to have a try in a tank class (yeah war is a tank class in a sort), my friend recently started leveling brd, and he leveled up till 37 and my war is 38. So I though yeah we can level together till when ever level we get bored (doubt my friend will ever get bored with brd but there...)
Yesterday it was my day of crafting. Wanted to have some crafts to reach 20 so I can continue with my main (cloth but maybe switching to alchemy or smithing...). As usual I receive a tell from my friend who wanted me to listen to his... well how should I put it "Frustration". My first impression was jeez hes 37 already? Wasn't he 32 last monday? Well he stated he got invited into way way too many "Bad groups" who never "Listens". Er, not a very surprising sight but I proceeded in hearing his "Frustration".
Party 1(me not being there). There was a PT who invited him. The PT was War, Pld, Rng, Drk, Whm, Brd (him) so he accepted. Now he has been told to go to Garliage citadel, which he did. First impression. Warrior gear. 33 war, him being 34. Lizard armor, lvl 20 axe, chain gauntlets, level 7 charm (The bastok quest one. Silver something...) Now good thing she wasn't tanking... She subbed thf 1 level broken but he said I will give a shot. The ranger pulls a beetle, he casts song of madrigal and minuette. Ballad mages, etudes, Prelude to ranger. Thief sneak attack.... "Twenty damage". Obviously no skill chain. Well no blm but still.. the skill chain damage was free damage -_-; After 1 hour the whm states she goes afk for 30min (food). He disbands. Reason was the lack of organisation. The pld and whm not positioning as he requested. And the 30min afk after 1hour.
Party 2(me not being there). He once again got invited. The pt structure was War Drk Thf Rdm whm brd. Structure wise was not that bad, so he joined. Hunting ground was, Althepa desert at level 33. Drk was subbing war. He was to be the first voker. Mob pulled by thief... Brd starts to sing madrigal and minuette.... he gets hit, and hit, and hit, (HP at red) Drk vokes. Whm throws a cureIII and mob goes to whm and thf failed SATA since war voked. Then brd goes back to the mages for ballad then rdm rushes to mob with enblizard. No slow, no paralise, no blind was used. After fight rdm stated "BALLAD!!!!". Brd casted ballad. After 3 rounds with same thing going on, brd disbanded. He couldn't take any more. (understandable)
Party 3(me not being there). He got invite soon after he disbanded when he was about to go anon. Structure was War thf drg whm blm brd. Since he seems to be near leveling, he joined. Hunting ground was Kazam (water fall place). Puller was thf. So he does the usual thing. Madrigal and Minuette, the drg vokes fine then thief SATAs the tank. Things were going well... not. Blm casted Aeroga > Firega etc etc. He missed alot of MBs, and brd asked what to mb with but he ignored. So threnody = none. Blm got constant agro, whm didn't cast much cures so brd had to spam cure. This made him not being able to cast any songs for a while. Blm shouts for Ballad with annoying <call>. Rest happend every fight. Obviously after 5 fights the blm died. And disbanded since he said he was not receiving enough ballad and cures. Replacement happend with a rdm. And same thing happend as Party 2. So brd just ticked and disbanded.
Party 4(me joining as whm after first whm disbands). Another PT he was in. Configuration was Nin thf rng war whm brd(him). 36 PT. He goes to crawlers nest. Does his duties. Since the puller was too slow on pulling he pulls (Bad call, taru brd shouldn't pull at the very least in this level -_-
the puller pulls one. No biggy, 1 sleep and all goes ok. So... the puller brings on... no wait thats 3 -_-;; So brd dies, whm didn't healed once even after brd has attempted in Foes Lulaby. All others lived since they requested help (after brd died), no one used 2hours except the brd. (for lulaby). Whm left after 2 battles (1 death), so I have been called if I could help him with the PT. My whm was 38 so I guess I was about right. Got there, structure seemed ok. The war seemed to be the first voker. Thief and ninja (why the hell was he pulling is beyond me). Ranger and war stood together at the camp site. (they were rank8 and a well known LS which I won't mention the name) Well since there were no rivals it seems ok for some of them to be at camp... The thief pulls. Shes getting hit... but comes into camp wtih good hp. She gets hit... hit... hit... hit... (HP at red) war vokes. W T F... I toss a cureII (not 3 since I will get mob's attention fast with 3 around this level), regen the thf. Skill chain was moot. There was one but everyone seems to have spammed their ws on their own, thief using sata before doing a skill chain so thats screwed. Well seems a bit inexperienced but worked out.
As we have been exping for 2 hours, not a single time the war voked as soon as the mob arrived in the camp. Then of course, the anoavoidable death happend. The puller pulled 2 mobs. Brd tries to sleep and succeeds. But another one poped at the camp. So we had 3. Brd attempted to sleep with foes lulaby but failed. I didn't have my sleep yet (SJ level not high enogh to use) so I had to heal the brd... but he got hit by 3 crawlers and didn't live long. I died soon after, no vokes from warrior. With both brd and whm dead, the nin died followed by the war and the thf. Ranger lived somehow.
Anyway We managed to level up, but I found alot of frustration in this PT. The ranger kept pulling hate off the ninja, which means more mp used to her. Pulls happened often and I couldn't keep much up at this level with ballad. So brd also cureIIed alot. I honestly couldn't believe that although rank means little towards player skill, it at least shows they might have a higher job... And the fact that they were in a well known LS, it gave confidence which I was wrong. Reason I sticked in the group, was the nin trying his best, brd friend was doing the best and for me being the only and main healer I felt bad to leave.
As a conclusion, the PT these days I don't know how to judge and invite the players. I have to actually meet in person to see what they are wearing. I have to actually PT with them to know if they are good or not. But really player skill wise is dropping further down than my time I played my ranger (which was not long ago, about 1month ago?). The fact that people doesn't do what we want them to do (which by no means is anything hard, its pretty much common sence) even we have requested them to do, is getting out of hand.
These days I have more feeling that the people who are skilled are PLing in a sort for the people who doesn't have a clue on what they are doing and doesn't listen to the request of your party members. Wondering sometimes if people know what "Team play" is. I see more and more new people being "Attention Whore" and "Look I am UBER" kind of attitudes these days neglecting what is to be in a party. My friend is a patient person. He started to say that he wants me to be the tank in his PT since he had enough of all these people and of course he might end up putting JP only. Of course he stated he will accept PT invites from people he know. He usually replies with what jobs the PT consists of first above anything, but if its a person who he know, or partied with him before and knew he was good, then he will say [Yes, Please] without question.
