I heard she now has brain damage and the family has pretty much said their goodbyes and are trying to make their peace.

This is tragic, the way the accident is described hardly sounds life threatening. She may have had some pending issue just waiting to surface.

Natasha Richardson and Liam Neeson

The family of Natasha Richardson — wife of actor Liam Neeson — today said they were “very concerned” after she suffered a serious head injury while skiing.
The Tony-award actress — a member of the famous thespian Redgrave dynasty — was injured at a resort in Canada yesterday and was later transferred to a Montreal hospital for treatment.
Her Ballymena-born husband, who was filming the movie Chloe in Toronto, flew in to be with his wife following the incident, it was reported.
Kika Markham — wife of Richardson’s uncle, Corin Redgrave, said: “We know that she has had an accident but we really do not know any more details.
“We are very concerned.”
She said that the family wanted to be left alone.
She added: “He (Corin) has got a show tonight. He has had heart problems.”
The 45-year-old daughter of Oscar winning actress Vanessa Redgrave and the late director Tony Richardson was initially taken to a hospital near the luxury Mont Tremblant ski resort in Quebec, before being moved to Montreal’s Sacre Coeur Hospital, Associated Press reported.
Both hospitals and her agent were unable to comment on the accident today.
There have been unconfirmed reports that Richardson is in critical condition and has suffered a serious brain injury.
Richardson married Neeson in 1994 after the pair met on the set of the movie Nell. They have two sons and live in New York.
In 2000 Neeson himself was injured in a motorcycle accident near their New York home. He suffered a broken pelvis after his motorcycle collided with a deer.
His wife, who has accompanied him on trips back home to Northern Ireland, is the grand-daughter of Sir Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson, the sister of actress Joely Richardson, and the niece of Lynn Redgrave.
She trained at the city’s Central School of Speech and Drama and has appeared in over 35 films, including The Parent Trap and Maid In Manhattan. Her extensive experience on stage includes a number of Shakespearean roles, among them Ophelia in Hamlet and Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
In 1986 she won the London Drama Critics’ most promising newcomer award for her performance as Nina in The Seagull alongside her mother.
She also won a Tony award for best actress in a musical for her performance as Sally Bowles in the Mendes production of Cabaret on Broadway in 1998.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Richardson since she was in The Handmaid's Tale. I love that book and thought they did a great job turning it into a movie. Sad news, indeed.

Skiing accidents are no joke. They tend to be very high speed.

I have an RL friend whose face got intimate with a tree on one skiing trip, he's lucky he survived, and he has almost no feeling in any part of his face at all since it happened.

She was learning. I don't know how that would differ, but apparently the briefs say it didn't look at all serious.

I wouldn't know, I don't like skiing.

I can only imagine how bad they can be.

I love skiing, I find it scary that this happened on a bunny hill. With brain injuries though, you can seem "fine" for a few hours until your brain swells too much, then it's kind of akin to having a stroke.

I feel for her, and her family. That is tragic. Fluke acidents, makes me think of Christopher Reeves all over again :(

MSN has her listed as having died. If I remember correctly Sonny Bono and another famous person died in skiing accidents. Sending some prayers out for her family. It is hard when you lose somone.

Yea the situation has been upgraded to death...

Cheebs i saw this special one night about a girl who fell while skiing... She was going so slow and slowing down even more when she fell.

When she fell she was temp paralyzed.. She was a nurse in training so she was kinda diagnosing herself on the spot..

The paralysis lifted at the hospital and her severe headache was gone. On the ride home it struck her again...

I am sitting here in the first fifteen minutes of this show saying were the freak is this going to go.. The show had an hour and a half left...

By the end you find she had a tear in a main artery in her neck from the soft fall and it blocked blood to her brain... They needed to remove half her brain by the end... It was a miracle she survived...

My point is shit gets serious when you can not control your fall regardless how slight a fall.

Prayers to her family.

That's really scary.

I talked about this last night with my bf, all and all it reminds me to be humble and that freak accidents are around every corner, we're all just flesh and blood.

=(

She was part of a very famous family (the Redgrave's - father was even knighted). She was known more for theatre though, she even won a Tony.

And Sonny Bono hit a tree while skiiing.
