Ethelwulf ditches parties too. He's also extraordinarily cool.
Khidir>>mind if i get a tele before I go?
Lichna>> sorry my bro is signing on medicineman
Lichna>> i was using his char and mine for the pt. these are both on the same acct.
I'm wondering why they both need to log if his bro is signing on? and let alone even if one has to log? I assumed that the brothers lived in different locations and how can two chars on the same acct.(as in content ID) play at the same time? I didnt care too much either way I just know some BS was up.

lolEthelwulf.
He's the one in my late20's to early30-something pt when I PLD who had to run away from the party for 10 minutes, try and make us wait while he or his then e-g/f Shabazzia kill beetles so they'll level at the same time.
Not even going to mention how much the kid complains about EVERYTHING when in XP pt, b/c IDK if he's here to say anything about it...
i'm getting sick of seeing this shit.... learn not to be an asshat and post something usefull like. Don't pt with them and/or thanks for the heads up!Getting sick and tired of seeing this shit too... learn to play without that shit, god dammit...
lolEthelwulf.

Far as the OP, haven't come across that player, but ty for the heads up. I don't really discriminate against people based off a flameboard post, but if encounter a party with them, I keep a watchful eye...

If a party doesnt need a PL then having one is generally pointless for the overall exp rate.
If the party does need a PL then they dont deserve to get the exp together anyway.
Not only that but how the hell is a whm or rdm suppose to learn how to be an effective healer when a pl is spamming cure3-5 before you can even target the tank or select the appropriate cure macro? Why should somone wait till lv 30, 40, apparently even 50 to be able to learn how to do the things thier job entails? Why should they even take the job that far when their whole experience with the job is to sit there and be bored as hell?
Why should tanks be shouted at by thier parties for voking?
Why should people in ridiculously subpar gear get a free pass towards semi decent exp that they wouldnt stand a chance against without the PL?
Because you say so?
Ethelwulf also offered 60k to have people to do his avatars for him. That isn't per-person either.
i believe you miss out on alot if you PL yourself quickly, like stated previously for example, skillups. i missed a ton of staff skillups wich im still makin up for at 75, since most pt wanted lolsummoner to heal like a good little white mage does. so ya good point, otherwise have at it if you like gimping skills.
If you're a SMN in a party that's being PL'ed, wouldn't that offer the opportunity to skill your staff instead of play pseudo-WHM? >.>;
Tee-hee I know that's not what you're getting at but eh, just to illustrate that party not without skill-up just b/c PL there, though I'm not debating a PLD, NIN or other job misses vital skillups to parry/eva/shield w/e if a party is PLed so hard that the PL winds up being the tank...
My take on PL:
It's called experience point party for reason, for low level pts, this greatly reduces down-time allowing mages to rest MP while having melee still attack and maximize the pt's kill rate.
Having PL can hinder learning opportunities for lowbies...
Undeniable though that they're not bad to have when you're jonesing for xp and
a pt would otherwise be unavailable with the potential setup at hand with no healers seeking...
A PLs helping hand doesn't hurt unless someone's slacking and using them as a crutch because they're a talentless hack or aspiring new player who can't play their job regardless of having PL present.
If talentless hack, they find way to get xp one way or another...
If new player learning job, still not easy to excel without a helping word or two from someone more experienced... If said advice is heeded, PL present or not player will know what to do next time to fit their role better.
Tossing a newb into a party with a PL and without a PL, not knowing job function, still wind up looking like chicken with head cut off. People who do the homework on their job and get some pointers on how to be better at their job will excel, PL or no PL.
Plenty of argument to go for and against...
If liking PL or indifferent and just want XP go for it.
If not fan of PL, don't pt...
PLing stops @ 50 LATEST and that's with someone to backup heal if the PL slips IMO.
If you're being PL'ed beyond that, you have a 7-man party, and must be in some real awkward situation...
Damn if it isn't frustrating trying to blink-tank as a Ninja when you have a 75RDM WHM SMN or BLM trying to tank for you and make you feel like you're wasting tool-gil though.

Edit: Eep. Just eep.
Anyone wanna split a brownie sundae?
Cherry's mine though sucka.
Lec all I have to say is that even newbs don't listen to experienced players. Giving them advice is just not useful in anyways. Sometimes you might get that one that will take to what you will say about the job, but damn most of them ignore you and go "I read alla I know what I am doing!"

I don't think I've ever met a noob who just wouldn't listen. I've met a few noobs that you REALLY had to hammer at them before they'd even begin to open up, but I can't say I ever actually met one of those lost causes. Must be the noobs in Europe aren't quite as bad as the noobs in the US? hehehe.
