MMO's are alot like drugs, both in how they're used and how they're seen by the public.

Alot of people abuse the mmo, playing way more than they should and having some aspect of their life suffer because of it, these are the people that give the responsible users a bad name.

just replace "the mmo" with 'drugs' and "playing" with 'doing'

Okay. Apparently according to someone who will remain anonymous (we'll just call him mexcalibur), this post didn't make sense and I need to "type better". So for all the retards reading it (like for example, if your name rhymes with hexcalibur), let me break it down for you:

-"itt" means "in this topic"
-"things" is in reference to the items mentioned in the opening post
-"that were boring" is a phrase that in this instance is referring to the aforementioned "things" which if you'll recall, are the items mentioned in the opening post. If this is too hard, you could just say "boring things", where again the "things" are the items mentioned in the opening post.
-"back in 2004" isn't referring someone's body in the year 2004. In this instance it's a reference to time. Some people like to say "back in the day" or something, it's like that, only the timeframe is specified as 2004.
-"when they were first posted." is tricky I guess. This is again a timeframe reference. It is referring to the year 2004. This is the year in which people liked to discuss the things mentioned in the original post.

I hope this helps people understand my incredibly complicated post. Though I'm guessing if your name doesn't rhyme with "lexcalibur" that you knew what I was talking about in the first place.

In no way am I against video games all together, it is just that so many people become addicted, and live sad lives (AND DON'T EVEN REALIZE IT) as a result of these games, most of the blame can be put on japanese and koreans, not saying that the US doesn't produce them as well.

I felt I had to plague this site because it has claimed many friends...and they live sad lives now as a result...this is not a random selection of sites. Ask yourself this....how many of you have a girlfriend/boyfriend off this stupid game? and how many of those people have met with this person in the real world after meeting them online? Now how else can that be described other than SAD. (Don't compare this to online dating either)

This will probably be my last post, but think about what you are doing. Sure you could watch TV all day, but does it have to be alone? Sure you could "make babies" LOL as one suggested, but not because you can, find someone to give your time to, someone to love or something...why do I have to give suggestions??

Find something other than "socializing" in front of a pc, it's very impersonal, which is why one uses told us he likes to make fun of others. Would he do it in real life? I highly doubt it, at least not to their face. This game is not socializing. That is an unfair argument because socializing involves people...and on the other end of the pc the other person is missing SO much and you are also missing SO much.

Glad I got 7 pages of posts. Makes me feel it was worth wasting my time. Hopefully the people I am targeting see it.

Go ahead argue against it. Come up with lame excuses like it "socializing" or "develops teamwork"...thats a very long shot...and you know as well as I do that it is a sad attempt.

And for you people who answered back using lingo from this stupid game...YOU ARE IDIOTS.

BTW - I am not a soccer mom, nor am I going to discuss my religious views with you, I am someone trying to save a select few. You other people are just extra. (kill two birds with one stone) And as conforming to the government...my favorite music is 60's protest songs...so you decide about that. I'm not one of these people who believe you should do everything the government tells you, like join wars...

GAL, good abbr for your name lol, you're just a bit paranoid for me to take you seriously. I agree with a lot of the 'impersonal bit' about the internet and games. However -- what if I were to propose to you that I used that exact 'impersonal' touch of the internet to avoid depression and such?

I play games to relieve stress; not to live my life. I have a blog; to bitch to the anonymous masses that wish to read. I was addicted to FFXI, and I guess I still have a sentimental attachment to the friends I have made along the way... Yea - they are real people to me.

Sadly, I wish it hadn't taken me so long to break my social shell, but this year is quite revolutionary as it pertains to my life. By no means, however, was FFXI a total waste of my time. The internet itself as a means of interaction has its benefits where society falls short. People do fall through the cracks - albeit sad, they may end up addicted to games. Its better than some alternatives.

Re-evaluate the total disregard you may have for any potential a virtual reality of anonymity might have. At least admit the possibility they aren't the worse thing in the world.

As far as the Japanese being responsible - LOL whatever. Your accusation holds about as much strength as me blaming Commodore Dewey for WWI and subsequently WWII. He was, afterall, the one to bring Japan into the modern world.
