Even if you were lazy/have an addictive personality, the aftermath for using drugs is worse than the aftermath of playing an MMO. Unless you consider a few extra pounds and vitamin deficiencies worse than potential death. In whichcase, please, just kill yourself already.

and X can kill you on the first pill if you're allergic to it(which many people are iirc). Not doing heroin ever would fall under the "being a responsible drug user" category.

Actually, most ecstasy isn't ecstasy at all, it's a drug cocktail that consists of whatever was put in it by the person with a pill press. Heroin, cocaine, meth, acid... pretty much anything that's handy. Ecstasy is the most dangerous drug out there in my opinion, because it isn't regulated, it can contain anything from asprin to rat poison. This shit is dangerous no matter who you are.

All drugs have their negative side effects, and the users accept that or are ignorant to the facts.

LSD - One of the safest drugs a person could ever take. It has no ill effects on your body that could be more dangerous than taking asprin or Vitamin C.

Mushrooms - Also quite harmless. If you pick them yourself, it can be potentially fatal assuming you don't know what you are looking for.

Marijuana - Increases your heart rate. Can cause respritory problems if smoked, but that can be avoided with alternate methods of consumption.

Everything else from caffeine to heroin can have significant negative effects on your health ranging from increased blood pressure to death. Everything else is also has potential for abuse, whereas the first 3 do not.

In no way am I against video games all together, it is just that so many people become addicted, and live sad lives (AND DON'T EVEN REALIZE IT) as a result of these games, most of the blame can be put on japanese and koreans, not saying that the US doesn't produce them as well.

I felt I had to plague this site because it has claimed many friends...and they live sad lives now as a result...this is not a random selection of sites. Ask yourself this....how many of you have a girlfriend/boyfriend off this stupid game? and how many of those people have met with this person in the real world after meeting them online? Now how else can that be described other than SAD. (Don't compare this to online dating either)

This will probably be my last post, but think about what you are doing. Sure you could watch TV all day, but does it have to be alone? Sure you could "make babies" LOL as one suggested, but not because you can, find someone to give your time to, someone to love or something...why do I have to give suggestions??

Find something other than "socializing" in front of a pc, it's very impersonal, which is why one uses told us he likes to make fun of others. Would he do it in real life? I highly doubt it, at least not to their face. This game is not socializing. That is an unfair argument because socializing involves people...and on the other end of the pc the other person is missing SO much and you are also missing SO much.

The reality is while there a few who do put far to much time in this game, most do not. This is simply a hobby to most of us, much like building ships in a bottle, or watching TV, playing sports, etc, etc.

Me and my Girlfriend now Fiancé did not meet playing this game, we met in college. After we both had graduated and she was going to graduate school we were looking for something to do in our spare time that wasn’t terribly expensive. I have been an avid gamer for most of my life and my Fiancé had started getting into many of the RPGs I play. A friend of mine since High School played this game so we figured what the heck, lets give it a try. And we had a lot of fun, that was 2004 and we still play today. I’ve kept a good steady job, many friends and social activities. She graduated from graduate school and she herself has a good job and many friends.

My point in saying this isn’t to say, hey look at my great life, it is more so to point out the fact that when you came on here to save our lives, you over generalized and assumed most of us have no life and this game has become our life.

While I will be the first to admit, there are a few that get into the game far to much and it does absorb their life, most of us do not fit into that category. So while I appreciate your concern, you my kind sir or lady, need to really think about what a life is and the definition of what makes a life good or bad before you poke around and point to people and say “You have no life”.

MMO's are alot like drugs, both in how they're used and how they're seen by the public.

Alot of people abuse the mmo, playing way more than they should and having some aspect of their life suffer because of it, these are the people that give the responsible users a bad name.

Depends on the drugs quite honestly. I'd say playing an MMO is worse for you than LSD or mushrooms. About the same as pot. and not as bad as anything else.

I met my, now, wife on this game, on this server. I now have friends and family on both sides of the Atlantic. If only I'd gone down the pub and got drunk every night instead! I could have had numerous one night stands and got STDs and a beer-belly rather than meeting someone with a common interest. Oh how I missed out...

I actually lost weight playing FFXI, especially being a DRG and looking for party so much. In my entertainment room, I have all my electronics, but I also have my Boflex and my stationary bike for cardio. While looking for a party, I would always hop on the bike or boflex and watch a movie and just leave my chat log open full so I could see when the purple text appeared.
