Hi, I am here to save lives.

The first thing that you MUST know is that, in no way am I against games.

The thing I am against is the Japanese controlling so many peoples lives.

YOU PEOPLE are so wrapped up in this game. Let us think about life, from early times people lived without these stupid video games. Now you people have such a sad life that you spend EVERY DAY AS MUCH AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN ON THESE STUPID GAMES. Do you people not know what you are doing? has your life come to this? sitting in front of a screen talking to your online girlfriend?? LOL ONLINE GIRLFRIEND....WTF IS THAT CRAP? Now if you try to say it is "just a hobby"...you are IN DENIAL....IT IS AN ADDICTION! You people don't understand that. Everybody on this game and games like it are SAD people. You are so scared of people that you live in a game, rather than experience what life is actually about! DON'T BE AFRAID OF LIFE OR PEOPLE! GET OUT AND LIVE TO THE FULLEST YOU CAN! You may ask "why doesn't he just leave us alone?", it is because I don't want to sit back and watch this happen to people. IT IS DISGUSTING!

First off, I do not care if you are "here to save lives" since that's your so-called mission. However in order to do such a thing, you cannot go in and start BERATING people like you are doing so here.

If this game claimed a good number of your friends, then you know what?
IT WAS THEIR CHOICE, believe it or not. If you want them to be in your life again then you have to extend your arm to them. Take them outside, go watch a movie or whatever floats your boat ffs; that's what Life is there for, is it not?

It's people like you that I would love to stay the hell away from. People who over-generalize things just to make a point make me sick. Especially when you yourself do not know nor experienced what kind of activity or situation that other people are in.
Get your head out of your ass. I'm pretty sure it's mighty dark in that backwards of a world you are in.

I met my boyfriend from college and I watched him play this game. I saw that he enjoyed it alot and I wanted to make some common ground with him.
Now I may not fit into this sterotype of a online relationship of yours but you know what?
How is it any different than going onto match.com or e-harmony.com?
Those people are meeting other people online.
They meet online, they meet in RL, and things go from there.
Tell me, how is that any different from meeting someone from this game or any other MMOs for that matter?
Don't tell me the "because its not real" BS. This game allows people to connect with each other on varying degrees.

Just because you don't play this game, just because you may or may not have a gf/bf, does not mean that YOU, sir/madam, have a life.
It just means that your interests differ from those of your friends.

Just because I play this game does not mean I do not have a life.
I have a job, I hardly play anymore because of the demanding hours.
My bf is kind of the same thing.
If your friend wants to play the game more than he/she doing stuff with you....then respect that choice. You are not their mother or father, you are not paying for their monthly subscriptions, you are only a friend.
Realize that.

Even if you may think your life is filled with productivity, joy and happiness, your friends may not think the same way. They may be playing to fill a void within themselves. People are lonely, they need someone to talk to. You cannot deny a person seeking a connection with someone whether it be online or off-line.

Are you going to call them losers or SAD people because of that?

I'd think that your friends are better off without someone like you sticking around.

I am Japanese and American and I do take offense to what you seem to think.

Not to add fuel to this fire or anything.....

But, my wife and I met in an MMO, Shadowbane to be exact if any have played it. We started talking in game then it got a little more serious, we were both going through some of the same hard ships IRL, so we started talking over the phone. Then one day we decided to meet, so I flew her from Ohio to Washington to see me. We've been together ever since, got married a year after she moved in with me. And we've been happily married for 3 1/2 years now (I know that's not that long but we're a lot happier than we both were in our previous marriages).

We still game together, we've been playing WoW for about 2 1/2 years now, but we're bored with it. End game raiding isn't just what it used to be. So I'm out on the search for a new MMO for us to get "addicted" to lol.

As for the OP's comments, MMO's can be addicting, but then again so can anything else that anyone does. It's all in the player's ability to manage real life with their virtual life, for example I am in the US ARMY, I work all day then come home and play w/e it is I"m playing at the time for 2-3 hours at night. But, I don't play until both my kids have their homework done, dinner is cooked, the house is cleaned (or somewhat clean ... it's never truly clean with 2 kids ><). Then on the weekends I usually play a lot longer, playing MMO's saves me and my wife tons of money, because we aren't constantly going out on the weekends. That's not to say we don't go out, there are nights that the whole family goes out, and there are nights (few and far between) where we can go out alone. All that said I average about 30 hours of gaming a week depending on my weekend activities, and I still have a fulfilling life.

i stopped playing ffxi a year ago, has my life improved? not substantially. i just filled that gap with other things lol, nothing really that important.

instead of ffxi i play guitar...big deal, stilll a time passer.

i hate when people assume that everyone who plays mmos is that stereotypical "i sit at home 24 hrs a day and play this game. i have no social skills and hate my life" person.

some people prefer blondes to brunettes, no one complains about them...why complain about the people who prefer ffxi to binge drinking every night.

i had a friend who would get wasted every night when university was in session. whenever i wouldnt be drinking, hed be bothering me to come out and party and get wasted...after I while I just didnt understand it lol.

for some reason the people who play games as a past time instead of drinking or smoking get more shit for it.

Just to let you know, anyone that would have agreed with you when you first came here does not agree with you anymore.
