Hey QCDNers,

I recently built a new PC and put in a Samsung CDDVDW SH-S223L SCSI dvd burner. The burner itself is working fine. I have burned a few DVDs and they work perfectly. My problem comes when I attempt to finalize my DVDs with lightscribe. I keep the following error:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Pragram: C:/...
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

I've spent a couple of nights trying to figure out the problems and I have made sure that I have the following:

Even after all the updating and attempts I am still getting the message. I've looked online and noticed a few people have had the same difficulties with similar models but none have really ever mentioned that the problem was fixed. I'm about to just RMA the drive and buy a new one that isn't samsung if there's not a quick and easy fix. Was hoping somebody here could help me out!

Have you contacted the application's support team for more information?

Anyway, have you tried reinstalling and upgrading Windows to the newest version (If you are using Windows that is)?

I did a quick googling, and a lot of people seem to have that problem. Have found no fix for it though. Someone said it "can take some time for it to read the media before hitting print", which seem to have fixed it for him.

Have you reinstalled the device drivers for the burner? Other than that, I'm not certain how to progress.

Did you check the LightScribe forums to see if anyone else is having similar problems?

I did and people were having similar problems with basically the same model but there were no fixes for it. I think I'm just going to pick up another lightscribe burner.

I assume you're using Vista.

It could be one of those rare cases where the device drivers weren't updated properly for Vista, but Samsung is usually a-plus about that.

You don't happen to get a longer error description then that? Could you paste it in that case?
