Limbus Antics

If there were enough interest in it, I'd be up for a talk on a limbus scheduling type of forum.

Would make it easier to find a Limbus shell based on days of the week as well.

Just outta curiosity, how did the queuing system work on Midgard? Did all the member of the shell set a comment for the zone(s) they were doing? I like this idea, since thus far, it's been allowed to be first come, first serve, since like Shirai said, it's a relatively simple matter to choose another Limbus zone, unlike dynamis.

A system like that, something simple, unambiguous and not particularly labor-intensive for the qcdn staffers, would be an excellent way to bring a lil order to what's traditionally been a rather chaotic process, in my opinion.

In my humble opinion a Limbus planning forum would be overkill.

Also unlike Dynamis, the gathering point for Limbus is in Port Jeuno at Sagheera, nowehere else.
It is less trouble to simply ask the leaders of the other groups what zones they plan on doing then to plan ahead.
Especially since for example Omega can put you half way or further on your next pop already if your lucky,
getting 2 out of the 4 chips from gunpods is not uncommon. (Oh crap, we planned this zone for next run but Omega already dropped us the chip, what now?!)
Also most experienced linkshells put out 2 or 3 groups to farm different zones depending on the need for chips items and overall attendance, it'll be a lot of work to keep track on all of it.

As for Midgard having a queueing system, I may have only been there for 6 months, but I am not aware of one and did Limbus twice a week at the same time as Ambition and another shell of which I cannot remember the name.
As far as I know and have experienced, it's always been first come first served as well.

As I said earlier, the thing that pisses me off is the soloing people crapping up a zone on busy times effectively keeping a zone unavailable for multiple linkshells just ebcause they want more value for their soap.

To Divinius:

I like you, you're a cool guy, but you're trying to make a point in the worst way possible. You can't compare Limbus to Dynamis, for the very reason that Dynamis takes place in many different areas of the world, vs Limbus only takes place in one. Limbus lasts anywhere from 30min to an hour(ish?) at most and can usually be low-manned by a group of decently skilled players, whereas Dynamis takes anywhere from 2-4 hours and usually requirs and alliance or two of people. Asides from that, the Dynamis schedule on Quetz has been working (save for the occasional douchebag shell) for several years, so why don't the rest of these shells from Midgard follow suit and use it? Take Alobont's example from his thread and do joint runs if there is a scheduling conflict! It has been a good 2-4 months since the merger, people from Midgard cant use the "Oh I didn't know it existed" excuse anymore. Hell, from what it seems, some of these douchey shells are using the schedule for the sole purpose of antagonizing other shells! So yeah, I agree with Zaltana in that blacklisting/balling these shells and their members is a good course of action, and this flame, unfortunately, is not =/

The Dynamis scheduling issue isn't even a Midgard problem; it's a douchebag problem. Some of the people who have done, and continue to do, this particular bit of self-centered behavior are Quetz natives, after all.

As for Limbus scheduling... well, as Div admitted, there really wasn't any more of a system there than there is here; a general polite consensus to ask the people who are gathering what zone they plan on running, if they wind up in the same spot as you, and not all shells, as we are well aware, are especially polite. As a general rule, it's a non-issue; Limbus zones are reasonably plentiful, and you can make pretty much the same amount of progress even if the zone you really wanted to do is occupied.

Yeah, I'll admit the idea of mocking the other thread sounded more amusing in my head than it turned out to be. I was just really getting frustrated by the one or two people in the other thread that were just completely incapable of understanding what I was trying to say. Reading the future posts, it seems that most people did get it, and just stayed out of it.

But, to clarify, I agree Hexx... Limbus and Dynamis are two very different things. And like I said, my "gripe" in the initial post was not a legitimate one. But I still think that the problems with both events are due more to the fact that we've doubled the number of shells trying to do these events (and chaos has ensued), rather than because one of the original server's members are "bigger assholes" than another server's members. I think that was the point I was trying (albeit badly) to make.

If you want to lock this thread, or delete it, feel free. If you'd rather leave it open that's fine too, but either way I apologize for taking the approach I did.

Look, I get what you're trying to do, but, speaking for myself, I dont do much Dynamis because a) its so long and tedious, b) RL usually gets in the way Sat nights, c) my shell only runs once a week, so getting our zone sniped REALLY rubs me raw. I get maybe not ALL of the members of that shell may agree with the zone jacking, but shunning them along with the leaders that made the decision tends to produce results if they find themselves hindered by assisting a shell thats been labeled a "douchebag shell" due to their zone jacking. Once it gets to the point where theyre getting booted from PTs, cant get help with missions, etc, they will tire of it and leave the shell and BOOM, there goes that crappy dyna shell.

Sure, it might be a long shot, but its worked before.

And I get what you are trying to do. I honestly understand. You're playing hardball. But the problem that can occur (and that, as it turns out, is actually occurring), is that if people from the other side decide that you are being unfair in your "punishment", they are going to be inclined to fight back. Instead of strong-arming people into using your system, you end up having the opposite effect, and creating more people that want to oppose it.

Regardless of who starts it, if one side reacts like jerks to another side acting like jerks, a situation can only degrade.

That's all I'm trying to say, and that's all I've been trying to say.

its annoying but not to the extent of dynamis where you would have to wait 3 hours for someone to get done plus this isnt scheduled so yeah

maybe you should just throw the names out that "hijacked you" or w/e otherwise it just seems you're going half-assed about this like your first post suggests
