I am not to sure where to put this, so move it as you guys see fit k =P.

So I have limewire and it needed an update yesterday, when i updated it and installed the whole shabang it won't connect anymore?

I am using vista and the newest version of Limewire.

Anyhelp will be appreciated

thanks

Dontcha just hate it when things happen to you and you fix em and then 2-3 years later it happens to someone else and you can't remember how you fixed it?

I would say first off check that a router firewall is or isn't up. Then check the open ports on the router and make sure the Limewire port setting matches up. If there's no router firewall, check that Vista security settings didn't mark Limewire as a reg change and block it.

Checked my firewall and Limewire was allowed, the settings on Limewire say it'll configure itself to work with my router....unless my router doesn't have that option, and i have no clue about that as networking is one of my weaker points ; ;

Ok, I see it now, there's a listening port and then an automatic configuration for routers. What version of LW are you running?

Damn, same here.

Checked that vista is allowing a connection? (I'm not too up to date on vista but I had it once)

I think it is? I am not to sure how to check with Vista, but in firewall it says to allow these to connect and Limewire is checked =S

thanks for your help though

I think the Vista Security Center (I'm probably off on the name, but I know it's in there), the one that pops up from time to time to ask you for permissions is separate from the firewall allowances.

ok cool, also when you go to the search part of limewire, at the bottom is the connectivity bar and a icon with the world being blocked by a wall.

Is your icon being blocked by a wall?

It starts out being blocked by a wall, but then I guess it realizes I have no wall up (please don't hack me) and goes away after a few seconds.

Could always just try taking down both walls for a bit and see if it connects, at least then you'll know that it's the firewall for sure if it actually connects.

Seems Mcafee had a firewall up too, i disabled that so lets see if it works, if not then i'll disable both

Just turned my firewall off and still nothing ; ;

Well, beats me then lol, good luck with it.

I know a solution...Don't use Limewire :P

Torrents > Viruswire

Protip: Limewire sucks

Edit: Tim beat me D:

>.> Have this problem to with limewire lately..

So ya... >.> back to torrents again.

I'm so very glad you guys toed the line with any sensitive topics like copyright violations. You make me proud.

On a serious note, Torrents > All.

People still use Limewire? Wtf...
