I got a party invite early yesterday afternoon - a Cannon Party in KRT. Legolias was the party leader, and it included Meridith (brd), Dmb (rdm), Legolias, Groo (lol sorry bout the misspelling, Groo!) and Carb (3xmnk). It started kind of rocky - another party had some of our potential roving grounds (we did not interfere) and I kind of felt like I'd left my "A" game somewhere else. But these guys (and the Meridith) were nice, and supportive, and we kept working at it, working the kinks out, and Dmb and I kept working out ways to trade off resting mp and keeping the rest of the party healthy.
The end result was something on the order of 20k xp, several skillchains in the teens, and three or four in the 20s, including "Limit Chain 29!" When Legolias hadto go, Ceran replaced him, but by then the rest of the pt was getting kind of tired, so we didn't last too much longer. Sorry bout that, Ceram! Let me know when and I'll try to make up for the short time somehow.
Personally, I'd never been involved in an experience chain higher than 13, and had only heard of xc's in the low 20s from a couple of people before yesterday. Legolias mentioned he'd been in a party that had done an xc 54, where he'd been "the most gimped mnk in the party," and another of the monks had been in one that had gotten a xc in the 40s.
All I know is, what could easily have wound up being a bad experience turned into one that was a whole lot of fun, and very rewarding, because the party kept things positive and kept working to improve how we worked together.
I was privileged to be in some really fast company (lol and I mean REAL fast - I think some of the mobs were taken out on the run). And I just wanted to say publicly how much I enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity.
