The only thing Sackholders can't do that shellholders can is Make a sack. pfft.

sackholders can't kick another sackholder, that's shellholder onry. (dunno if this has been said already >.>)

WoW has this little nifty "view offline members" section, where you can see everyone in your guild, what level they are, and where they logged out, not to mention kick their ass out if they havent been on in 2 months.

Another thing you can do is set a guild note for each member, like what crafts so and so has, and when they will be back from lunch. Pretty much kinda like the Search comment, but this never goes away, and all vieable in guild screen.

WoW has this little nifty "So and so has left your guild" notice when someone quits the guild. So for all the hnm hoppers who try to steal old ToDs.

Also if they made FF have only one LS at a time, from day 1, people would have addapted to it pretty quick. You know what you do with dynamis? Oh my gosh make an alliance and talk in it(provided they let you make a 40-60 man alliance for dynamis that is).

Yea, I agree, the LS has room for a crap load of improvment. I'll be bold enough to say that it even needs as much improvment as the auto-translater.

If SE just did something as simple as make more commands for the linkshell holder it would make such a big differance.

Oh WoW also has Guild Officer chat, so only the guild master and guild officers can talk to eachother, or to the guild direct.

I just dont get how Ghostinmyshell thinks the WoW guild system is bad...?

It has a 500 member limit, when you get more then 500 members, it goes wacky and buggy. Those of us with 500+ member guilds... well hate that :p

Also if you wanted to change/add/remove ranks for any reason you had to do a lot of member sorting which was annoying with 500+ members.

A limited MOTD, a mod fixed that though.

They dont, Alliance is still limited to 18 people.

Linkshell system isnt a guild at all. Its simply a comunication device. You want to make a ranking system? go ahead. Ask sculli for a LS section here, and post the Shell rankings there. Dont want someone kicking random people? chances are that they're not mature enough to recruit either.

Frankly, the Linkshell system is not a guild system and never has been.

Think of it like creating a password protected chat channel in wow. You can own the channel, promote others to be Mod of the channel, and be a member of infinite channels. But that's all it does. Just like the Linkshell system.

There is no guild system here.

As a linkshell owner i give everyone a sack so no one can kick anyone if there is a problem i talk to the players that this happened with make a desicison and its final after that so i dont have one saying oh so and so kicked me b/c i dont like there mom or they only kicked me b/c me and there best friend dont get along , it solves the problem now for someone to invite someone that no one likes might as well blacklist them but as a ls owner i will not ignore any of my members if they need help , some may see my ways of running things dumb or whatever but it is my choice :)

What seems to be said here is the following:

SE should make a "Guild" type system in addition to the Linkshell system.

Guilds are also not some WoW only phenomina. Guilds are an integral part of most MMORPG. Being able to have guild houses, storage, and etc., would be great additoin to FFXI. Having guilds would better account for participation in events etc. Having a guild system will allow people to see beyond the current "LS is everything" mentality. Most LS's are social in nature, without all the hard liner rules that some 15 year old with a power complex drew up.

Anyway.. yeah give us guild please SE!
