lol not really, you know how many people there are out there claiming to have "powers" or claiming that they are phophets that have a huge religious following that weren't/aren't locked up?
But its religion in a political sense. Jesus couldn't be president. He wasn't a native citizen of the US. I think Goliath would make the best biblical character president anyways. Let's see how david likes a nuke....
Here in this speech alone i think that he covers all of the promises that he has broken that i think he has broken.
7 promises that were broken during this speech and once again this is not my list
1. Make Government Open and Transparent
2. Make it "Impossible" for Congressmen to slip in Pork Barrel Projects
3. Meetings where laws are written will be more open to the public (republicans shut out)
4. No more secrecy
5. Public will have 5 days to look at a Bill
6. You'll know what's in it (Republican Senators didnt know)
7. We will put every pork barrel project online
the use of government funds for private projects. These projects usually benefit campaign contributers or a certain constituency. the pork is usually earmarked to appropriations bills, so that they will be guaranteed passage in Congress.
Seven promises? More like only two: transparency and bipartisanship. Even then, I can't consider those promises "broken" after the guy's only been in office a few months.
He's already used the Internet to make documents online and handed down directives that requests under the Freedom of Information Act are to be assumed approved instead of subject to countless roadblocks like they were under the Bush administration.
If Republicans are unaware of the contents of a bill, it's because they're too fucking lazy to read the thing because they get the chance to do that before they vote. Obama has given them opportunities to contribute and they've either A) simply put forth the same tired bullshit that got us into this mess or B) thrown up their hands and refused to contribute in any meaningful way.
If they want to spend the next 4-8 years as simple obstructionists, that's their call... but they shouldn't be surprised when people ask if they're capable of any meaningful action other than throwing tantrums and holding their breath until they turn blue.
The public certainly thinks Obama has gone out of his way to play nice with the GOP. Then again, the GOP defines bipartisanship as "the Democrats do what we want."
Thankfully, all those poor oppressed conservatives are preparing for a big Teabagging Day event so they can protest having their asses handed to them:
By the way, is that list from the same site as the other one? That guy's a major dick and a bit of a racist. Asking if Michelle Obama should be called "The First Bitch" because rappers use the term -- you know, because he thinks they all talk the same way -- is not the mark of an intelligent person.

Yes i am a libertarian,
Yes i have read both of those books however i read them after i already considered myself a libertarian.
No i do not believe in big government
I believe in Minarchism
1. John Galt probably worked for AIG.
2.
-Neither do I, lets go back to the 18th century where we could be afforded such a luxury.
-What is a big government? Is it like the old adage about a duck?
-Is there any compromise in this ideal?
-When did John Locke write the Second Treatise of Government, which I will say lays the groundwork for Western concept of a democracy in tandem with really basic free-market theory held by Libertarianism, and Minarchism to a similar degree? How much change in thought has occurred since then?
3.
-Why?
On the one facto-truth-promise thing:
That thing is a good idea, I like it. I did look at one of the broken promises that I could access on the Armenian genocide. All I can say is Obama said he supported his position on it (that it was a genocide), but didn't blatantly say it in Europe. It isn't breaking his promise honestly, it just isn't going into Europe and Turkey and saying it to their face which honestly would be a really stupid thing to do when you are going to Europe to get plenty of things done and then have it overshadowed by being derisive.
Who cares who works for AIG they are a bunch of idiots, it should have been allowed to fail and if it did fail they wouldn't have gotten thier bonuses anyways.
Instead we prop up bad businesses, try to change the way they do business, and wonder why we continue to have bad businesses when we encourage them... same reason we have illegal immigration problems.
Another thing to note is that there are promises people actually care about and promises people don't care about. I certainly didn't vote for him to play nice with Republicans. Taking dissenting opinions into account when making decisions is admirable and I'm glad he does it, but at the end of the day I cast my vote for him to work with Congress to enact a progressive agenda and undo big chunks of the last decade. When he told the GOP to go pound sand, I was pleased.
So when you compile (or copy/paste) a big laundry list of "broken promises" like that, you shouldn't be too surprised when you get a big "So what?" this early in the run. Again, that list was drawn up by a guy shedding crocodile tears over Obama's actions.
It's like the Clinton thing. Most people didn't care that he was getting blown by an intern. He was doing a pretty good job being the president. The Republican-led impeachment didn't hurt his approval ratings.
I guess i am strange then because i believe in voting based upon principles not what is popular and not making promises that you don't know that you can keep.
There are two values that are sadly lacking in this country and they are integrity and personal responsibility. The fact is that almost all politicians continue to show that they have neither.
