and not in a skilled way but in an elitist fuck way. I'm really turned off by the fact that I can not find a group willing to do titan, everyone either won't take someone unless they have 65 lvl gear, or they rage out and quit after two tries.

Well, it definitely was kind of tough getting that first Relic completed. However, I made sure I had full DL and even some i90 accessories before I even attempted Titan, as well as my Garuda weapon. Honestly, you kind of need to have at least that in order to boost your HP (if you are a mage) and defenses so that you can reasonably survive stomp damage and perhaps a missed dodge on WotL, or even a missed bomb. It's needed in case you make a mistake so that you don't automatically bite the dust, even if you do everything perfect it's still needed so you don't croak to Stomp damage.

It's not as if Philosophy tomes are hard to obtain, specially now that you can get them with almost, if not all endgame content. You can slide with Ifrit HM and maybe even Garuda HM with having AK ilvl gear, but when it comes to Titan HM people expect you to be geared for it and know the fight. This is because when you have people that don't gear up appropriately and aren't prepared for it, more often than not it ends up being a frustrating experience because those people could be doing that much more dps, or healing that much more or taking that much less damage. As a whole making the fight go more smoothly.

Titan isn't even that difficult once you've done the fight enough with other skilled/geared people. The main this is knowing the patterns and avoiding aoe damage. But if you don't have enough dps the fight will drag out too long and it's possible that the heart won't even be killed during that phase and if it isn't then that's instant death/loss/wasted-time. Nobody want's to do runs that are going to simply just waste their time and not be rewarding.

Hence the whole "Elitism" attitude. Thing is, it isn't even that. Sure some people take it to that level with rudeness, but in all honesty it's just the way the game is designed. You should gear yourself up so that you are well prepared to tackle the content with what is expected of a "good", decent player. Whenever I'm using the Duty Roulette it's a shot in the dark. I might get lucky and have a well geared and experienced group, or maybe I get 1 other person who is geared and knows their job, 1 guy who's not geared but knows how to play his/her class (these folks usually work out well enough, with the others who are geared covering their shortfalls), and the complete noob who doesn't seem to know how to run an instance or play their class/job (they could be DL geared, or worse, or better.. but that's not as likely except for myth gear). The latter will always cause an issue for the party at some point during, if not for the entire run, simply because they are f*&$ing morons.

Needless to say, I really hate those kinds of people. They waste other people's time. I don't appreciate that, nor do I think most people do.

But Titan HM (as well as the new EX battles, Ultima, Moogle King) are different than most normal dungeons. There's a very specific learning curve, and yes.. there are gear requirements. Now.. according to the DF those requirements are listed as far below what most actual players expect when tackling that content. If I'm doing a Titan run, I would want everybody to at the very least be in full DL with a Garuda weapon. Ifrit weapons and below aren't going to cut it, unless you're a healer. When I see people not in DL, Myth or Coil gear doing a Titan run, I wonder why they are even bothering to get their relic weapon if they can't get better gear first.

Oh lord, now that's a name I could have gone without remembering... TBH I'm really enjoying FFXIV because they put in stop gaps for separating the more casual from the hardcore raider type. My only advise is to try and find a company that is good enough or willing to help ya get through it :(

FFXIV is definitely not like the FFXI community :O

You all need to stop with the community thing conversation. It's a completely different generation of gamers that have come up through to be playing MMO's lol. Not that many people from our days of 11 to even the golden days of wow play anymore, they grew up, got families / kids. Not to completely go sociology on you all, but its the different generation of players. No one wants to work for anything, they want everything handed to themselves to the point I'm surprised blizzard doesn't just send out weekly epics via mailbox anymore. Remember the struggle just to get attuned for Sea? I loved the sense of accomplishment through lots of time and effort, that just isn't the case anymore with mmo'ers. I review apps all the time for my company with the same sad bullshit story "My company just farms 1-4 because no one wants to put time in and learn turn 5." Suck it up buttercup, nothing easy is fun. Social butterflies can be happy with social aspects of a MMO and shouldn't expect to get the best things in the game that require time and effort. Turn 5 is so damn easy by MMO standards its sad. The one good thing I applaud SE about is they've claimed there will be no nerfing of content, so if people wanna see turns 6-9 they better start breaking out the coffee with some hardhats and get the job done. (My rant is not about you clax, it's just a aggravating fact that this generation of gamers is a bunch of whiny bitches)

Ya, it's a problem I have with the society in general. The community conversation is still valid. Sick of entitled spoiled brats who think they should get everything or never help others once they get theirs :\ Definitely agree with you, Quieren.

I just have to put this out there, not that I'm playing FFXIV or any MMO for that matter, FFXI was the one and ONLY for me. But to have to pay a monthly on top of the initial and put in countless hours in order to have a good shot at experiencing a lot of the game you purchased not to mention the added expansions (you ALSO paid for) and have any shot at it with base gear is a bit much guys. I was never okay with having to put in over 20 hours a week to get gear better suited to specific boss battles and job levels..

So perhaps not just a case of misplaced entitlement but how about dishing out some hard earned cash and wanting a pretty good experience and chance at experience with said expansions. Keeping in mind what grinding means for regular single player rpg/adventures games means and what it means in an MMO.. does no compute.

So it's not necessarily the same reasoning for everyone although I'm sure there is countless who feel everything should be handed to them, there are likely just as many who feel they should be able to experience the communal process and some fairly decent progress without spending every waking and spare hour plugged in.

Sorry you are completely wrong. If by your definition that everybody should get to do everything as those that put the work and labor into things, all current content would be dead the first day and there would be no progression or sense of accomplishment. MMO's would literally die because everyone could clear the new stuff on day 1 and they couldn't kick out new content fast enough to satisfy. High school educated only people don't get to be CEO of Toyota just because they feel entitled to equality. MMO's put out harder content for the more competitive raider type players to keep people playing.

Well, you couldn't do Kirin or Nidhogg in AF in FFXI. You could buy gear that could do it, though, unlike every other MMO ever.

Actually by -my- definition I can understand how those who have invested a year plus a few hundred dollars (or round about) into a game may want to feel they have accomplished something. Where-as I paid into the game for 2 years, played fairly dedicated for the first year solid and still didn't break 69. I had 'decent' gear but certainly not what anyone would consider l33t, yet I was helpful to my LS and other friends. I didn't have a sense of entitlement but when I walked away from the game I felt it was a complete waste less the people I met and befriended from the experience.

That's sad. I'm a gamer dude, and when I put in hard earned money and time that -I- feel is sufficiant (more than casual less than basement hermit) I expect to feel like I played and maybe completed some of the game.

I walked into the mmo not knowing what it demanded of the gamer, even after learning what was required I still couldn't quite grasp the magnitude of hours it demanded. Had I known upfront I may never had blown the cash.. then again that said I'd not be here either.

Long and short, I can understand many, and I can also understand your position. It takes dedication, but just how much and to accomplish what exactly is a question of fairness. Time and money. That's time away from our rl too, the price can be pretty high all for a gaming experience.

i had roughly the same experience in FFXI, I played very solid for 2 years and on and off again for another year or 2 after that, and made it to like 72 and never really did any "endgame". But i don't feel that any of it was, wasted time, I had a blast in ffxi, and still look back on it as the best times I ever had in a mmo. Its not about the destination its about the journey. Participating in endgame was never my number one goal in the game anyways, the journey along the way was so much fun, i was content to take my time and make good friends and have good times along the way. and i did.

I think its all about what your looking to get out of a game, if you're joining an mmo just to hit the lvl cap and do endgame content, i think your really selling yourself short and are gonna miss out on alot of good times. (if its a good mmo) Theres no reason to look at endgame content and accumulation of the best gear in the game as the pinnacle of the mmo experience, there so many other ways to have a great time.

Doesn't seem that bad. I've actually found them to be surprisingly kind and helpful so far (only been in ff14 for a week). At least worlds better than other MMOs I had been trying as of late. Now it's hard to find anything like we used to have in ffxi, but that was forced on us by the sheer brutality and difficulty.

Mainly just wanted to say hi to an old face I recognized! /wave Elemmire

This game does not have a bad community. Go play Aion, Tera, or a game that has a large population of Brazilians. The communities in those games nearly gave me diabetes.

/wave :O didn't really check the forums much for awhile. Was playing a ton of Dark Souls 2 (I have such a hate/love relationship with it x.x it's so much easier than prior games in the series, but that's a discussion for another place of the forums) and other stuff.

And I dunno, there are good players in FFXIV, no doubt, but I felt it was more like WoW in both community and play style that I Just couldn't stand playing it after a few months. So ya, haven't been back.

Psh. Play with better people, and I don't mean better by "elitist".

I have a few LS (mostly just one though) that I'm a part of in which the people are pretty friendly and fairly good at playing the game as well. It's comprised of literally all kinds of people and play-styles, but the main objective is to have fun playing the game and help others out when you can. I have gotten so much done thanks to this LS. (all of the EX primals, except Levi and Mog King which I just haven't attempted yet due to not prepping myself yet) Also have done some 1st Coil stuff with some of the folks in there. As well as normal dungeon runs and myth farming.

Even a few folks that are from one of the more "Elitist Endgame" type FCs (on Diabolos) are a part of the LS and help out doing stuff when they can.

It's one of the most active LS I'm a part in and generally it's always a good time there.

I want them to remove ilvls >.> it's the same problem WoW had when ilevel add-on was created and when ilevel became official in the game. People focus on it and nothing else. Hell, even FFXI is going this way.
