I can't believe no one wrote about this very amusing exclusive that is under development and already has endless possibilities.

After looking into all the fuss everyone is making about this game i had to laugh when i seen it.
Here's a game that can only be done on the PS3. It makes great use of the Cell Broadband processors speed, by what can only be describe as real time depth of feild and motion blurr. Often enough i've mentioned this has never been done in real time gaming, but appearantly the PS3 can filter this fast enough for each frame the camera zooms and pans. Damn.

The game also makes use of the PS3 freaky ability to simulate physics which is another element to this games wonder. It's not everyday we see a string or chain swing correctly in a video game. It may not sound like much, but this interactive simulation of weight shifting under gravity, really is a unique ability the PS3 has, and it's well intergrated into the game play.

Thanks to Blu-Ray format (massive amounts of space), the game has insane textures to go along with what is surely to be a seemingly endless display of junk that has crazy texturing. It's a pleasure to see how the lighting and shadows make for a realistic feel. Many of us say graphics do not make a game, which is true, i however wouldn't want to see this game any other way. A cell shade would ruin it, same with the classic look for games. The awesome final gather of the scene has so much charm when you see these little guys doing their thing. Kinda like they are actually there in a place.

Check it out. The video's are really funny.

It certainly looks cool but at the same time I'm not sure if I would buy it. I will have to take a wait and see approach. I don't see myself creating many puzzle worlds and the idea of running through a bunch of mediocre player made content to find those occational jewels doesn't seem like something I would stick with for long.

I saw the GDC presentation for this game a few weeks ago, looks like lots of fun for multiplayer gameplay just fucking around high kinda thing. Prolly wouldn't play it by myself, sober.

That looks entertaining in my opinion. Not sure if it's going to have a mass audience appeal though; looks like a sleeper. The graphics and physics seemed to be the catching point for you guys and you're right. But that music and art style in general really fit well. And Decidence is definitely right when he mentioned not playing sober lol.

Since people from lionhead studios are involved on this (who did black and white), I'm not surprised it looks nice with a casual touch.

I'm impressed by the game's abilities and what it shows the PS3 can do, but the game itself doesn't seem like something I'd enjoy for a long period of time :P

Edit: well, maybe.. I'm still not entirely sure what the point of it is XD

The game is about making you're own stage and publishing it online to share with the world. From what i have read each stage takes 4 players at a time.

The main goal is to seek out challenging stages in an endless ocean of entries, with you're online buddies. I can only imagine there will be alot of love and addiction happening in this world.

All this on PS3's free online service. Which is said to be lag free. Because we can add our own digital images ontop of textures, and choose what materals those surfaces are made of, i'm confident to say we'll be able to make themes. For instance i'm sure alot of players will make a haunted house theme with lightning bolts and things like that. Others may make one dedicated to the person they love complete with imagery and hard work put into making the stage.

Judging by the video, making a stage, and recieving feedback from players around the world is a joy. To get that #1 spot in the world standing, would honestly make you feel high. I've also read how the developers will be seeking out tallent and they will contact you for ... an offer.

Sounds crazy. I do enjoy creating my own levels. Part of the reason why I'm a fan of timesplitters and various pc map editors. Course I was never that good at them to the point of being number 1 or even 100 for that matter but I just like making them for fun. If its as in depth as it sounds, this game may have me hooked.

ah, wow :P this seems like a game I'd get (similar to spore or the sims) enjoy, stop playing for a bit to play another game that comes out and then I'd pick this up ever so often and play it bit by bit. So, fun, replayable fun, but not long period of playing fun (in my opinion). I should probably start making a list of games I want on each system and compare (since I'm sure by the end of the year I'll have finally decided on a NextGen console).

This is one of the few reasons I'm almost 100% sure I want to get a PS3 at some point. This game is amazing in a stand point of 3d development and how it runs. It literally runs of the processor for physics and uses no scripts. I can't wait.

*wipes dust off thread*

Since I was browsing my old posts I figured I'd take the opportunity to advertise what I've done in LBP since my level is buried under millions of other levels and it never gets played.

A friend of mine recorded and uploaded this. The sound and picture is crappy. Which is why it would be better to play it for yourselves.

THUNDER TORQUE

I wanted to make something anyone can play. Sure it can use more detail, but I ran out of space so I published it as is.

Available for free play on Little Big Planet and Little Big Planet 2.

seems fun :P but if it requires more than one person to complete fully I don't bother :( I lack people to play LBP with. Why I haven't even finished the game's single player XD
