So this is my Second X-box in Canada and my first one was just shit with Live...I had the wireless adapter that Microsoft made as my 360 is in my basement and no where near my router or anything. Basically the problem was it would connect to Live, but downloads and updates would take around 1-2 hours.

After i received my new one due to the other one making a scratching noise and messing my discs up, Live worked fine, up until monday, it didn't connect on start up of my system. So i took the Usb out of the back and plugged it back in, waited for the light to go green and pressed play game, an update happens and it is going SHIT slow, i left it for an hour and it didn't even get half way before i shut down the console and just removed the Networker.

I know you guys are most likely going to say connect it directly etc etc, but i simply can't, so please spare me from that. Any other help would really be appreciated. (OH btw the bars when i check my connection from the network setup is always full bars)

Is it just a bandwidth issue? Is your ISP choking your downloads?

Was the internet being used elsewhere in the house at the same time?

My downloads, are always fine...we don't have a bandwidth Limit according to my knowledge, I will confirm this when i get home. I have 2 Desktop and 3 Laptop computers scattered around the house as well as my Wii and 360. None of them are on at the same time. The most is probably 2/5 comps and one console. My Wii still works fine with Wireless btw

No idea then, though it does sound like a problem with the Xbox, not the network. I don't have anything more than a passing familiarity with networks, though.

Are there settings with the Xbox that can be adjusted to communicate better with the router? Ours is just plugged right into the router, so I haven't had to mess with wireless settings.

It sucks, I am currently stuck in class so can't check too much details, and this is all off of memory. I do appreciate your help, and will check when I get home =P thanks Whim

:) You're welcome. Hope it starts working properly.

Ok, so I tried connecting it again, and i checked network area in the dashboard....it was full bars green and 'ACT' flashed yellow now and then, I am guessing that means Activity....so it said update available and starts going at normal speeds hits about 1/4 and slows the heck down again...

If this continues i may just call my X box...it's serously irritating me

Any interference in the signal going on? Ping your 360s IP for a while, see if you get any packet loss.

So i called up 1-800-4MYXBOX, and they went through a long procedure with me, He was a generally helpful guy though, turns out my router was only giving me moderate NAT and it should have been Open, so he told me what three things i had to add to my Router and it is working so much better now, of course there is just a bit of that wireless lag but it is very rare.

Thanks for the help guys ^^ really appreciate it

Also check your NAT. Some routers are notoriously bad for closin' up the NAT on the Live Network. However, more times than not, it can be fixed. Just test your connection to Live and it'll give you your NAT setting. After that, if it's anything but open, you can Google fixes for it or use XBL's database. If you're NAT is already open you're just one member of an unfortunate group that just has to endure the wrath of the wireless adapter.

No need for that now. Glad you got it workin'.
