Ahh ..., not quite there yet, but almost, let's work out some details before we officially get going.

A contest would imply rewards, often beyond simple recognition.

With that in mind, here are the basic ideas:

- rotating logos are possible, but are they preferable?
- I would propose for logos to not exceed 468x90
- since we have a bunch of different styles, what is the artists take on accomodating different color schemes?
- what would an acceptable reward for the top 3 be?

I do have an offer from a user to donate 3 million gil to the contest. Perhaps there are others who would be willing to donate gil and then we split the pot some particulat way between the top 3, perhaps 60%, 25%, and 15% or some such.

The voting will likely run for two weeks after the entry due date, unless there is a compelling reason to have it run shoter or longer.

Since I do not have an active FFXI account anymore, I would need someone to be the gil collector, I do have a couple names of people who have the communities trust in mind. I would prefer to collect the gil ahead of time, just so there are no issues with rewarding those who do the work.

Hi Sculli.You being the founder and all for QCDN (i think.) It wouldn't feel right accepting a reward from you since i come here ever so often, all you'd have to have done was ask some of us to try. If i were to make it to the top 3, i wouldn't complain if i was rewarded either.

Since your searching for the best from the QCDN artists, a contest is the way to go since there will be more than one working to make the logo. And a prize like that would drive more to participare. Also for some reason i think your announcment should be pinned up for a short time in a select few other disscussion boards here, as the Fan art section has a very slow intake of observers, more people knowing of the contest would probably make it more eventful with more competition. That might not be a good idea, but you of all people should be able to seek co-operative members in any fourm.

I know it's gonna start eventually so i'm gonna draft out a few ideas, I'll be looking out for further information regarding donations and the go ahead.

Only question i have is, since this is a competetion, would it be ok if the artists submitted more than one peice ? Not that i plan to, it's just a have a few ideas is all.
 
as far as rotation goes.. I think rotating maybe the top 3 banners submitted would be enough?

and regarding a reward.. I personally feel that having a banner made by myself in rotation on the site is reward enough lol (not that I'm gonna make one.. we'll see.. :p).
 
i agree with death on rotating the top 3, but what about the color schemes and the different board styles. If you have one banner thats dark and its on a lighter style of the boards, its gonna look kinda ugly. For reward, i dont care to much if their is one, just like the chance to make a banner for QCDN ^^
 
I agree with Zakai, it would be fun to do. I'm going to start working on one tonight maybe. I don't know yet. I would prefer the requirements before I start. Do you have any idea when we will be gettin them? Let us know. Thank you. Oh, one more question. It's up to you. Should we have a buy in of about mabye 10k to be able to enter your drawing. If that follows through, you will definently be seeing an extra 100k in the pot when I'm done. ^^

I am still trying to sort out some details in terms of collecting the purse, but will put up the official contest soon-ish.
 
Last time there was an art contest here i lost with flying colours. This time i want Gold, and i won't budge until i see the go ahead.
