I go to Chowan University in North Carolina. This is a private college as well as a Christian college (that could stand to do some major remodeling, some of these buildings are disgusting.) Now I am not a strongly religious individual but if people are then that's fine with me as long you're not imposing.
The other day I noticed this e-mail sent to all students:
Interesting. I wouldn't join because its a matter that I don't really care but its cool if people want to have it.
However, the next day this e-mail was sent out by one of the higher ups in the office at our school:
Wow... way to go guys. Now this issue doesn't really affect me, I don't believe I've ever met a gay person face to face. But this is just wrong. How can this college ever expect to grow with such narrow views? Don't they understand that it is things like this that makes people look down on Christianity so much? They need to modernize their views and stop living in the dark ages. But nothing can be done about it, its a private college, meaning the government really has no say on its policies.
Also the booklets for the school states that they accept all people regardless of race, sexual orientation, etc. To allow homosexuals into the college and then force them to keep their lifestyle to their self is simply hypocritical.
I must say that I'm tad amazed actually.

Attention Chowan Students!!
Some other students and I are interested in starting a GSA here on the Chowan campus! Anyone and everyone is invited to join, regardless of orientation. If enough people are interested, we will definitely do what we can to get one started here. For more information, please contact me or Lauren Rodil.
Here are our campus emails. They are checked frequently, so don't hesitate to email either of us!
(e-mails edited out by me)
Looking forward to hearing from you!

However, the next day this e-mail was sent out by one of the higher ups in the office at our school:
e-mail from Randy Harrell said:Yesterday, several students brought an e-mail to me regarding the intent to establish a “Gay-Straight Alliance” at Chowan University. I want to make it clear that this e-mail was sent without authorization. Furthermore such an organization has not and will not gain university recognition.
In November, 2005 the Board of Trustees adopted the following policy, “Chowan University, as a Christian institution that enjoys a historical as well as current relationship with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, recognizes the worth and value of all people as created in God’s image. All individuals are loved by God and as such are valued within the community of Chowan University. The university cannot however support or condone lifestyles among members of its community that it deems are inconsistent with Biblical principles and the mission and/or values of the university or the Baptist State Convention.”
The university views the establishment of a Gay-Straight Alliance to be in violation of the spirit and letter of the Board of Trustees policy.
If you have questions about this matter I would be pleased to discuss them with you.
