Most people wouldn't put this under good times, Im not like most people so whatever.

Tuesday night I was quite bored and really wanted to kill something in a very risky and time consuming manner so I went to Kuftal Tunnel on 65 BST to go solo Amemet. I am in Kuftal for a little over half an hour and the onle people I see in the Amemet area are 2 whm's skilling up and another bst (RMT) Skyfenrir. Well it pops and I see it on widescan, its over in a tunnel filled with spiders. I charm a Sand Lizard and book it over there. Easy claim, but the spider room can be a huge pain in the ass because the spiders there aggro to sound, link and is straight up packed so I pull Amemet to the big area of Robber Crabs and Sand Lizards who will suffice as pets.

Ooops, mistake.

I'm doing well, Amemet is at 80% and skyfenrir is trying his damndest to make sure I don't have pets and failing miserably like a huge gimp. Then sellers start rising from the sand or something like some mindless swarm of insects and following me around. I PT with the two WHM's forseeing an MPK. These gilsellers suck, in every sense of the word, during swaps Amemet always comes unclaimed even if I dia'd him like 15 seconds ago and the sellers always fail at stealing him. To make sure the WHMs start dia'ing and flashing it during swaps so it doesn't lose claim. The WHMs btw were Zyn and Umie and are straight up kickass people, they are the main reason I put this in Good Times, because its a degree of faith that I still have for people in this game. Anyways, then it starts getting messy, skyfenrir starts leaving nearby lizards on me. Id have about 1-3 links on my pet at any given time, Im leaving and swapping through them as fast as I can but they start to turn on the WHMs and I, Umie dies (twice), I die and lose claim which Zyn cannot keep and sellers steal Amemet at 25% and kill it.

Made a GM call for shits.

Being MPK'd is alot of fun as a BST...because its hard to get MPK'd as a BST, don't get me wrong its alot nicer to solo something that takes you half an hour and alot of excitement without being interfered with. Its one of the biggest rushes you can get as BST or Im sure any job that can marathon stuff, but I still had a hell of a time. I got a good story out of it, an R3, and a good learning experience for next time.

Skyfenrir has some other RMT buddies out there with him and I guess thats all they do is Amement and a few other NMs there since they are always Kuftal.

But once me and Oracant stole Amement from those guys with about 5% left. I was trying to get the claim but he was in the middle of a bunch of aggro mobs. I was waiting for him to get a place I could safley get claim when their WHM runs in gets claim with only one thing aggroing him. They tried to call for help on the aggro but no one seemed to want to help. One mage dies and another almost dead, but still it seemed like they were going to pull it off when the PLD gets the red bubble of death. Now the THF is tanking and very hurt. One cure from Ora and the mob went white.

The PLD logs back in as we finish the kill ^^

When I was farming a Shoalweed from the spiders a few weeks back I kept seeing Amemet run by unclaimed for probably 20 minutes or so, since he runs right through the spider spawn point on his lap around the zone. I thought about going for it but I was already sick of spiders at that point and Skyfenrir eventually woke from whatever daze he was in. Hurray for your R3.

I had a great time, the deaths weren't a big deal I just wish that we could have stuck it to the Gil sellers. You forgot to mention that you got a "Level Down" when you died, your sig was fufilled.
Seriously though, it sucked that we weren't able to keep claim on the NM, but all in all it was fun.
If you ever need help camping him again give me a call I'll come and help ya.
(Good choice on throwing this in "Good Times" helps people remember that when the day is done all you have to take away from this game are memories and friends.)

If RMT was smart they would lv bst you have all of the power you need to take care of business like rdm^_^

Of course it would be too slow for rmt's business to lv bst so they fail either way^^

Before you lost claim did you have Zyn and Umie cast diaga to lower the drop rate before they took it back?

Aoe's lower drop rates of mobs, this is why most don't use them when farming, I assume it applies to NMs

Me and Hamlett went on an Amemet binge before the MPK patch and killed him about 7 times, and were something like 7/9 on claims, those gilsellers are really awful, lol. I also MPKed them with Guivre many, many, times.

Houston still has {Lizard Killer} as a pet name for me ;/

Yep, that was changed a very long time ago to stop a single blm from pulling everything in the zone and doing 1 AoE nuke to kill everything.

Yes but it doesn't lower the rate by casting the spell. AoE(including WS) do not effect drop rate on the main target, simply as a KILL SHOT on every mob that us not the main target.

Yeah this was a lot of fun. Thought we had it there for a while and then i ran out of mp at a really crappy time. SO close! And yeah, it burned that much more that it was gilsellers. But we fought the good fight and next time we'll be triumphant! :bb: If I can ever help out again sometime, Matt, let me know.

I wouldn't mind spending 3 straight days there out claiming sellers.



I'm gonna try to call a GM and see if he'll wait for me to get claim to watch the sellers try to mpk me.

I was getting Weapon latent points with a couple friends when he popped right behind us. Being engaged with a mob we lost claim to gilsellers TMCP(??) and resident dickhead Skyfenrir. Well, the thf TMCP or w/e the hell his name is had to continually spam bloody bolts, but when you get petrified that's hard to do. Skyfenrir's pets would only stay charmed for about 30 seconds, so needless to say the thf dies and Skyfenrir decides to zone. Anemet is ours. Kill no prob, get a couple skins, and one by one stand over the dead thief, /laugh, and go on our merry way.

The target of an AE skill/spell isn't an actual target, but rather a beacon. Yes, it does affect them. I'm pretty sure theres other checks involved, and not just limited to an AE effect. Hate lists, number of targets, etc. are most likely included.

Hmm do you have any tests on this? If you say it I'll believe it as this is certainly something you know more on I am simply running on heresay, but it'd be nice to see it numbered.
