look what i did!

I am currently selling my stuff cheaper half the time prices stay is because people just sometimes forget to check if the price is lower. This is just a test since i didnt buy any of the clusters that were being sold but i sold the ones i had for 2k i know its a bs idea but i just want to see how people think.

doesntwork.jpg

As you can see it doesnt work.

This is how i see things.

The more prices go up the more money you will have soon 1G will be 1000G to you and 50G will be 50,000G. As prices rise so do other things and as those rise so will your income. But if 1G could buy me a stack of somthing then i could go and kill some gob and make my money that way and consider myself the richest person there is. The more things are the more money there is in the world the less money in the world the less things are. All this was, was a test of what people will do to get supply and demand. With less supply the supplyers will then charge more for the demand. The demanders will then supply causeing them to have more and so on the more gil in the world the more things are....just look at the other servers.

err.. I'd say some people raise prices outta greed.

"The point is, ladies and gentlemen, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works."

Gordon Gekko > all of you.

You saw the rest of that movie right? lol.

Don't be an Ayn Rand leg humper she has enough.

Seriously though, do you think most people that raise prices to a large degree really are thinking of the economy's health and I doubt Adam Smith's invisible hand (imagine what that hand is actually doing >> <<) have too much to do with it either. Crystals I would agree are not the problem usually and tend to just go with the flow, unlike many higher priced items ie NM drops and High Lvl Crafting stuff.

I think some of you are giving greedy 12 year olds to much credit.

No the laws of economics wont apply as well in this game as they do in the real world. I cant go out and kill something to make a few bucks just on a whim like I can in the game 8) , just as I cant run quests for said monies. Yes even though these 12 year old kids dont know it, they are in fact following the laws of economics. We do it without thinking. You got your item returned back cause nobody wanted to spend that much? You put it up again at the same price hoping someone will, or you lower it. That is economics. You are right, people are greedy. As I said earlier, this is not necessarily a bad thing. In the game world it can hurt us even more than the real world though, as benefits are not as easily noticeable.

After all, greed is what makes the world go round. If nobody was greedy, then there would be no specialization and we'd all be farmers and hunter gatherers ^^.

Sorry Oraga...surprised it took a whole two clusters though lol.

In general, yes, its not like the gaming world is outside the laws of economics, if anything you can see it at its most free functioning in this game. Yet, the laws of economics are simply the way things work, not if they work well or not. For instance the strongest economies and safest economies do not have drastic changes, things are phased in and out. If prices totally drop or spike you see a panic. Ie technologies that are cheaper and more efficient than older technology is best phased in to allow the market to adapt instead of sticking it right on the market and completely destroying an old market. Unfortunately, alot of this is not done well because both parties are greedy: old industries refuse to adapt and get gov. protection (often happens in the US) or new industries jump in to make the big money quick f***ing the rest of the economy. It still works by the laws of economics but it can follow the rules and be a bad economy. I bet Argentina follows the rules that the economy usually works yet their economy is terrible (blame the IMF or their unstable gov.). Instability in the economy and society are what f's everyone over.

ITT: People complain that items cost more than they used to.

NITT: People realize they get more money for the items they're selling.

This holds true if what your farming steadily rises, but I doubt even price jumps in many crafting materials that are farmed (I havent done the math...but Silk may be an exception here) is going to cover that gap on high priced items. If you have a high lvl craft (consistent HQ's on Shihei, food or even just making good money on a somewhat consistent on HQ things like Snipers and etc.), are just a lucky SOB on NMs or have a high lvl job that you are not rapidly spending money on this isnt much of a problem. But if you have to farm to get enough capital to start a craft or get good gear for your level it hurts you the most. Higher prices dont hurt large disposable incomes, simple as that.

I did the same thing with some wands I HQed. I listed them at the going rate, before some ass gouged them, but people are stupid. So I end up listing wands for 1k but getting 3k a pop for em....

Jeuno = teh slowzars.

If you listed them at 1k, there is no way someone could raise the price to 3k until yours sold out....or did I read it wrong?

It was like this...

name > name 1k
name > name 1k
name > name 1k
name > name 1k
name > name 1k
name > name 3k
name > name 3k

So I listed mine for 1k, there were no others being sold, the the last 2 people raised the price to make more money. Then I check next day and i see the same thing...

name > name 1k
name > name 1k
name > name 1k
name > name 1k
name > name 1k
name > name 3k
name > name 3k
Falsey> name 3k

"Fine, I'll just settle for a 10 million dollar profit."

Since 10 million is pocket money for him, then yes, Gekko>everyone.
