Looking for input on DD PLD setup.

Mob TP gain is also greatly increased. To be the 'best' setup, you need to do the most efficient damage possible. This isn't always the most, but isn't something you can put down on paper. I've yet to see the percentages compared to other people in the party...because to choose a DD pld over another job, especially a tp-spamming pld, the pld would need to be a step above your average war/nin/mnk for the party to work efficiently.
When you already have [3,4,5] melees hitting a mob, even a fairly large TP gain improvement on your part (20%+) is barely noticeable, if at all.

You haven't held the majority of hate in a merit burn then if you're saying that. Its easily noticeable when you're the one casting shadows.

Are you saying this because this is what you want to believe, or what you actually noticed?

Your TP gain improvement is spread out over the number of people hitting the mob.

Hmmm i've always found the "Your giving the mob to much TP" augument a bit pathetic in merit parties.
1.The mob lasts for 30 secs, sometimes less dependent on setup and tp held by players.
2. A mob does not use TP as soon as it gets to 100%
3. How would a merit mobs slightly increased TP moves cause you to suddenly be spaming shadows. TP is not increasing attack speed, it's just dealing with maybe 1 or at most 2 @ most extra TP moves in a 30 sec window per mob, with bounced hate.
4. The hate never stays on 1 person however pimped out he might be, its who ever has WS first usually gets it. Or vokes off puller first.
As a healer in merit parties i like no gimping from dds.
That means no 2 hander subing /nin. "I cry inside when i see a drk/nin, sam/nin drg/nin or war/nin using GA"
Not holding back on TP. This helps hate bounce better.

You saw why it can be an issue yesterday in our party. Difference being we had 2 Ridills, but the damage done by each ridill swing was significant. Look at the percentage of damage for phraust and I for weaponskills vs. tp. My guess is its my usual 2/3's of damage done via tp and 1/3 from weaponskills.

Joyeuse does not do significant damage while tp'ing, so it is needless tp given to the mob. Also, while the mob doesn't use tp moves right at 100% for the entire fight, it does do it when the mob's hp is lower. You saw the damage that can be done by Firespit with BLM mobs...2 x's 841dmg = dead Jamal. I'd rather not take that chance.

Ridill doesn't do leaps and bounds more damage/hit than joyeuse. The firespit spammage is only because there were two multihits in the party anyway. You think of one of you had switched to ridill/joy it would've been felt noticeably? I doubt it.

No it wouldn't have, but our damage would have drastically decreased.

Ridill does do leaps and bounds more damage than joyeuse. Joyeuse doesn't do leaps and bounds more damage than an axe/axe combo is what you should have said.

It's like 10% per hit, which really isn't as big as you're making it out to be here. Obviously ridill has far more DPS than joyeuse, due to its uneven multihit distribution favoring double attacks.

But joyeuse has the same uneven multihit distribution when compared to an axe/axe setup, yet does no more damage (I've posted the most viable results in defense of this on this forum of any testing I've seen). Multi-hitting with a weaker weapon does NOT necessarily increase damage done.

DoT is roughly the same between a CS/multihit and two multihits, but TP gain in the latter is improved by over 20%, where's the question of "best sword combo" here? If it doesn't include an excalibur, I don't see what all the debate is about.
This is what I initially said.

Mob TP gain is also greatly increased.
This is what you replied.

This is what I claimed.

I don't see what this reply has to do with anything; I was talking more about how switching a single hit to a multihit won't really be too noticeable in terms of mob TP gain.

perdu...hanger -_-; i thought pld cannot use that sword. maybe i am mistaken.

homan body/ares body + algol greatsword might be great

+3 triple att from homan body and +3 trip att from algol

+6 triple + 5 double att from brutal + haste gears might not be bad.

then switching to damage gears

pld/thf ? hahahaha >_<
