Looking for NIN advice...

I've decided that while I've got plenty of money saved up (from my Scorpion Harness savings), I should level NIN from 33-40 so that I can use it for 40-cap stuff. So I'm gonna buy my Ni spells (Tonko, Utsusemi, and the elementals, anyway), and all the equipment I'll need. Here's what I'm planning to use as of yet:

Main Weapon: Kodachi +1, Ohaguro at 39, Zushio at 40
Sub Weapon: Centurion's Sword or Strider Sword, maybe Republic Sword at 34
Ranged: Chakram
Head: Emperor Hairpin
Neck: Spike Necklace
Earrings: Dodge Earring x2
Body: Strong Vest, Silver Mail +1 at 36, Jujitsu Gi at 40
Hands: Federation Tekko (not gonna get Horomusha or Ochiudo's Kote; they are too expensive to bother with for something I'm only leveling to 40 )
Rings: Reflex Ring and Balance Ring, replace Balance with Venerer Ring at 34, replace Reflex Ring with Alacrity Ring at 36, replace Alacrity Ring with Sniper's Ring at 40
Back: Nomad's Mantle
Waist: Warrior's Belt +1, Survival Belt at 38
Legs: Kingdom Trousers, Royal Squire's Breeches at 40
Feet: Winged Boots

What I'm looking for is opinions on anything that would be better for me than any of the things I've listed (i.e. Strider Sword or Centurion's Sword). I'm also wondering if I should just use Sword on my main hand for better damage, considering I'm only taking this to 40. Also, would the Mithra RSE boots be better for me than Winged Boots (their stats are DEF:5 HP+16 STR+3 CHR+2)? And what food would be best for me?

Any input would be much appreciated.

If you spend the scorp harness money, where will you get a scorp harness?
I had to keep telling myself that, or it never would have happened.
I'd say finish that goal, and then move on. I put my NIN to rest at 40 for now.

Weapons look pretty good. I stayed with katanas. For throwing, I have the Jr. Musketeer's Chakram. Accuracy hasn't been an issue for me, so I ditched out on the jujitsu gi and went with the royal squire's for body (on the basis that evasion and utsusemi do a fine job and I like the extra Def).
Spirit Torque at 38 (?) is a good NIN thingy.
I go almost all evasion though, so your style might be different.
Jack-o-lanterns for acc and eva...Eva equipment, or STR, DEX, AGI, ACC where needed and just go nuts and voke every 30.

fuma kahyans might be a choice for you at lvl 39 for feet 3% haste.

chakram +1/2 are nice because you get STR in areas not controlled by your nation.

Theres a neck piece at lvl 38 that nin can wear +10mp +5eva, the name escapes me atm.

and for food, squid is nice for the extra agi/dex however I always liked using sole for the str benefits, seemed to let me hold hate better.

Well I'm 40 now, so I don't really have to worry about this anymore. :lol: Thanks for the advice, though. ^^ I ended up with the following:

Main Weapon: Zushio
Sub Weapon: Ohaguro
Ranged: Military Gun
Ammo: Bullet
Head: Emperor Hairpin
Neck: Spirit Torque (the MP+10 Evasion+5 piece Ryme mentioned)
Earrings: Dodge Earring x2
Body: Jujitsu Gi
Hands: Federation Tekko
Rings: Sniper's Ring and Puissance Ring
Back: Nomad's Mantle
Waist: Survival Belt
Legs: Royal Squire's Breeches
Feet: Winged Boots

I went with the Military Gun initially as an experiment, then saw that I was doing about 3 times as much damage as with my Junior Musketeer's Chakram, and hitting more often, since my marksmanship is capped and my throwing is not (throwing is about 20 levels under cap :?).

With this, I've got +29 evasion, and I've found that seems to be adequate now that I have Utsusemi: Ni. I tried out Jack-o'-Lanterns for the +10 evasion/accuracy they give, but I seemed to get hit a lot MORE with it, so I switched to Rice Dumplings and was fine. I would have gone with Sole Sushi, but I was already paying tons of money as it was to level this, and didn't want to kill my savings anymore. :roll:

Haha well, it was all part of a plan. I was tired of farming the old-fashioned way, and wanted to level NIN because I figured I'd be able to get BCNM40 invites if I had NIN available (since THF gets no love when it comes to BCNMs ). And I needed to get NIN to 40 for CoP missions anyway, so I figured I'd kill 2 birds with one stone.

Lately I've started leveling BST. I've always planned on taking BST to 75 along with THF. Some people in my LS have BST to 20 or higher and have mentioned that they love to go with another BST and duo the BCNM20 bats in Ghelsba for gil, so I decided I can try that out too. Plus I get tons of beastmen seals doing this, so it's win-win. Not to mention it's something to do while I try to find a static for my THF and people to help me do PM2-5. <.< >.>

^^ Looks like a solid setup. I like the gun idea too, considering my marksmanship is also capped. Think I might play around with that in 3 years, when I can level NIN once again.
