I'm looking for input from merit WARs on the true effectiveness of 3 one handed axes for a merit setup. Any input from experiences with them or any other suggestions are welcome. Please note however I'm not looking for Rare/EX axes.

1. Juggernaut 2. Woodsville 3. Maneater

Every war should have a Maneater, the hidden stats are just too massive.

Woody vs Juggy is a debacle in it's own. I've read stories with parses included showing that Juggy does beat the Woody, but by a fairly marginal amount. Looking at the stats alone I'd think Juggy would mop the floor with Woody, so perhaps those parses were not controlled. It was a while ago.

Maneater/Juggernaut should in theory be the ultimate axe/axe setup for Warrior.

I'd go main-hand Maneater and off-hand Juggernaut if you have the gil for it. The stats for Juggernaut are just too good to pass up in my opinion. Woodville is good, but you get 1 STR at the loss of 30 attack. If you can't, Woodville/Maneater is good as well and fully acceptable (no one is going to kill you if you can't shell out 10+mil) and it's arguable for some if 10mil is even worth it. I recall Nasya mentioning that the Blau Dolch (same as Maneater, same hidden stats, both obtained in ENM so I can only conclude it works the same) hidden stats work when off-handed and below 100TP which is common knowledge, but it didn't work during WS when off handed which I had never heard before. If that was true, wouldn't a Woodville/Maneater combo be better with Maneater main-handed to gain the stats during WS? I'd assume +5acc, +16att would be more beneficial than a single base damage and main-hand/off-handing wouldn't change the DoT so it's only in terms of WS. Just curious since it's kinda on topic.

As for Blau, the Latent doesn't go off during WS if it is subbed... but <100% TP you still get the +16 ATK +5ACC from it. Statistically speaking, +16 atk +5acc is far supperior to 2 base damage... between harpe's speed and lack of those extra stats, Im curious why you prefer it Tride '-';

I'd never heard that the hidden stats don't apply during WS if the weapon is offhanded, and I would be hard pressed to believe that without proof (which may exist in that thread, I haven't read any of it). Hell I'm hard pressed to believe the effects apply during WS as it is, that's damn near impossible to prove.

Only time I would offhand Meater is if I had a Woody. That'd be mainhanded for the obvious reason, higher base dmg.

The hidden effects work with the latent, and it's very easy to prove the latent works during WS.

Example?

/checking to see what it's evasion cons won't work, thats the only definitive method I can think of that would prove it. Base dmg comparisons vs lv1 mobs? Does that work?

Yes. Do 20 WS at 100 TP with Maneater, then do 20 WS at 100 TP with a 43 dmg weapon, then do 20 WS at 100 tp with a 49 dmg weapon.

For best results, use with Sneak Attack to remove critical hits from the equation.

You get more from Woodville's than "1 STR at the loss of 30 attack." You get 4 more damage as well. Theres more to weapons that just their bonus stats, which is why the difference between the two could indeed be pretty slim. 4 damage, especially on a one handed weapon, is pretty huge.

Juggernaut is still top dog for the offhand slot though.

The real question should be Maneater/Jugg vs. Woodville's/Jugg. Because neither of the two compare to Juggernaut when Dual Wield is being used.

While a bit high in cost, and somewhat rare, Tabarzin +1 is also pretty comparable in this situation, especially against Woodville's.
