Looking for Thief's Knife info

i know i can look up this info on alla or whatever, but i really wanted to get some personal feedback. I know the nm is in temple of uggaakfjafaf whatever its called, but im wondering what lvl the tonberry itself is? the lvl of the mobs around it? maybe some camping strategies? im lvl 66 at the moment and i really want this dagger, the +Th is obviously very handy. any information at all that would help my luck on this guy would be very appreciated :) thanks in advance.

good luck. It has a 1-9 hour repop time (usually goes in about 2-4 i heard). Very very very low drop rate. at around 73+ you can solo it (with some really nice gear tho). 74+ for easy solo. thf/nin. The mobs around agro at lvl 75, but it shouldn't be a problem because you are in that secret room.
 
If you plan to solo it, get upto 73+ with all the evasion gear you can find.

I say get evasion gear, because when you solo — you will be THF/WAR.

THF/NIN if you are afraid. THF/WAR if you want claim.

Bring stacks upon stacks of Sleep bolts and Bloody bolts. Acid bolts are very nice before your WS as well.

When you have 100+ TP, this is very important. Wait for him to use his TP (Throat Stab, Vertical Slash, Light Penance, Everyone's Grudge)
This is your chance to Sleep Bolt > SA > Dancing Edge

If you are impatient and WS while he has TP, if he decides to use Throat Stab — it WILL hit you (unless your an evasion god). Normally you are supposed to run away from a Tonberry when they use TP. You can't run away while using a WS. Press your WS macro / menu and start running before it goes off — this will give you a head start if he's about to use TP Basically, you run away just before your WS goes off.

Perfect Dodge and spam bloody bolts when he uses Perfect Dodge.


Always count his TP. Vertical Slash and Light Penance may seem very fast — but they can be dodged with the "You are too far away" msg. If you get hit by Throat Stab.......................that really sucks. Your turn is over if it hits for 90%. (I've seen it only do 40% dmg)


It's a very big pain in the ass trying to claim him with Mug/Steal — has to spawn nearly directly infront of you.

My buddy and I were 1/3. Some are 1/30. Some are 1/10. It's all luck.
 
Had much trouble soloing him as thf70.

Came back with an evasion torque, capped the 15ish evasion i was missing and lvl 71 and it was much much easier.
 
ewwww... lol. i gotta get my evasion and marksmanship capped it looks like. i was gunna do it eventually, but now i have a goal to work towards. i might hafta go recruit some ppl for future camping trips also. its good that it pops (more or less) in the 2-4 hour range tho. hehe i have 4 more lvls till i hit the lvl 70 mark, so i got plenty of time.

but also, how is the competition? its worth several million i know, but does the uber low drop rate drive away most comp? or are there like 20 thfs sitting there waiting for a go?
 
He can be up for 2 hours with no one in sight as much as you can see 25 ppl packed into that tiny room for 10 hours on end...

But at the end of the day the rush of the

is sooo worth it.
 
Lol i bet it is, which leads me to another question.

is that TH+1 really noticable? i want it bad either way, cuz im superstitious like that, but honestly XD.

oh oh, and can u steal gold bst coins from the normal tonberries in there? ive kinda been addicted to stealing those coins, and it might give some of my friends a reason to camp with me o.~

I have heard of LSs deciding to camp this, they got every claim for 2 weeks solid (someone was there 24 hours a day 7 days a week with TH2) and they did not get the drop.
