Looks like Peregrine was right. Blm nerf.

Off topic, Pomp, change the fucking title, that whackjob will never be right.

Not to mention hundreds of people have been saying it before his bandwagoning ass.

Speaking of which, are there any synonyms for Bandwagoning? I'm pretty tired of using it.

As Bajaratt pointed out on the flameboards, Pere was just quoting a year-old interview with SE. He wasn't right, he wasn't wrong, he wasn't saying anything at all. I think the right title would be... "Looks like Square-Enix was right. BLM nerf." which makes absolutely no sense. >.>

All right! Spinach. Sounds awesome.
It'd be nice if the Spinach players all wore green so we could identify them.

I originally had a pretty mundane title in mind, but my topics never get much attention. The controversial title was just to get views/replies really. There are people on QCDN who can get 50 pages by their name alone, regardless of the post content. I could've put "Odon won't be pleased" or "Vang might be pissed" or something else that's vaguelly accurate yet kinda meaningless. If my title was "SE speculates adjusting Manaburns" I'd have four replies and this thread would be buried three pages down already. QCDN posts are like writing for a newspaper. The title is more important than the content.

Did I say they didn't? Read too deep much?

I know they have thier faults, but since you want to bring it up; Monk isn't able to pull off as much damage in such a short time on an otherwise nuetral(unclaimed, unaggroed) mob as Ranger did, thus reducing their risk. Slug > Barrage > Slug > EES anyone? As well as sleep bolts, acid bolts, blind bolts, and Shadowbind for when things got stuffy. Not only that, the TP values given to the target due to that chain was significantly smaller than a damage spamming Monk could ever concievably do to maximize damage while keeping the target from weaponskilling into next week.

The risk a prenerf ranger had compared to a Monk is trite.
Mnk has about 10 times the survivability, it was the trade off for increased damage from ranger. Don't tell me that counter + dodge + guard + evasion over 200 + a sh!t ton of hp doesn't make for more survivabilty than rng gets. Blm is in the same boat that rng was in. Smn has their 1 minute timer.

So when people flock to a job and enjoy playing it, they are bandwagon jumpers and should not be allowed to play the job that you love?

ps - I think you're full of it when you say you'd welcome a nerf to mnk. Would you honestly enjoy it if you never countered, never evaded, never had guard kick in, every other hit a mob made on you was a critical for more than half your max hp, and your melee accuracy was below 70% against too weak mobs? How much would you enjoy mnk when drk's start out TP'ing you?

Guard isn't reliable, neither is Evasion if it isn't A. I don't evade a shit ton more than any ranger does. Dodge is a piece of shit ability, Shadowbind is a fuck ton more useful than it is. Counter is a two way street, you can be either really lucky, or really unlucky. Not to mention it's not a useful combatant against TP Moves, where as sleep bolts are if the use timers are long enough. A Shit ton of HP means absolutely nothing when you're being hit for 150-200 a pop. I can survive 8 noncrit hits, go me.

Monk has absolutely no reliable defense. Try playing it. Chakra's helpful, but it only cures 2-3 hits worth of HP, less if you're fighting ITs.

Again, Stouter, I was fucking talking about Prenerf Ranger. Please, learn to fucking read. I used past-tense phrases in that post. So pouting about accuracy and TP gain is a moot point.

You paid for your damage, was the trade off for your offense. You still had a lot more going for you, defensive-wise. How can you ignore parry, shadowbind, and sleep arrows/bolts? I can tell you right now, parry goes off a lot more than Guard does. My Parry is half my Guard level, and I see it activate more often. If a Monk had to run away, and a Ranger had to run away, the Rangers going to make it. The Monks going to get his shit pushed in.

But yes, I'd still play the job if it were nerfed. I enjoy it. People still play Ranger and don't bitch and cry. People will still play Black Mage and not bitch and cry. Enjoyment isn't always being the best, you know? Dry those tears.

I have parry as ranger? When did this happen?

And everything I said in my post applied to before and after rng nerf, so past tense or present it's all the same for rng survivability. And sleep arrows suck, proc rate is a joke.

Subjob, hello? WAR gets C-, NIN gets A- I believe. So 105 skill for WAR sub, 114 skill for NIN sub, assuming you have it capped for those jobs at 37.

Sleep Arrows > No sleep item at all.

And let's not forget the pre-nerf RNG always subbed NIN, so that's Utsu on top of normal defensive abilities.

Obviously so.

If he was really so worried about bandwagoners jumping on the MNK job why would he be for nerfing the others.

I don't have the slightest shame that I play this game to win. And whatever job is needed to win, I'll level it. And all those losers sitting on lower jeuno grumbling about it who think I'm somehow lesser than them because of it can suck my digital cock.

Giving the mob 20 TP for a slight chance of sleeping it for 2 seconds and doing a whopping 10 damage in the process is better than nothing?

Oh wait, doesn't mnk have a staff that has added effect sleep?

Hypnosis Staff isn't even fractionally as reliable. Not to mention, you don't lose TP swapping bolts.

Quit ignoring Shadowbind as well.

Well, there are two different types of players. Some people identify themselves by their "main job", as if there was no job change feature. I have to admit, I'm guilty of this. I don't say "What job can complete X task the easiest?" and then level it to be most useful. I say "What can I do to make my job the most useful for X task?" and then do so. I think the players who level the right job to meet the task are the better players, even though I'm not one of them. I think SE expects us to level every job to be ready for any situation. I think the playerbase largely thinks in a "main job only" manner. Some players say: "If your job isn't useful for X task, level one that is". And just like you wouldn't hire a plumber to repair your ceiling, the idea has some real world logic to it. Most players say: "I shouldn't have to level another job to be useful for X task. Every job should be equally capable of completing every objective". This almost sounds like: "But I don't want to hire an auto mechanic to fix my car. I should be able to call a gourmet chef to fix every problem I might have".

Rng has no self healing abilities either.

Chakra is hardly a deciding factor when the shit hits the fan. Shadowbind far outweighs it. Not to mention, a lot of mages don't even let Monks use it fully.

I'd trade Chakra for an ability that lets me get the fuck out of there any day.

I've used both, proc rate is very close between staff and sleep arrows. Shadowbind will save you from one mob, once. The second that mob takes any damage bind is off, and he's coming for you. It's only useful when you aggro one mob and have to zone, or in a few rare cases like a couple end game fights.

I have no idea how you can say sleep arrows/bolts have low proc rates. I see them go off all the time. I've had people use them as a faux stun against TP moves.
