Looks like Peregrine was right. Blm nerf.

Screw it! They should just do away with ALL jobs and make one job. Call it "Maat". That way everyone can all have the same abilities and all will be happy.

I have no idea how you can say sleep arrows/bolts have low proc rates. I see them go off all the time. I've had people use them as a faux stun against TP moves.
I never said bolts, I said arrows. Sleep bolts proc all the time, sleep arrows are a joke.

Honestly.. we were on the topic of Ranger in thier prime days, when Obow was it. And you go off on your own little tangent..

Stick with just playing the game, your counterpoints in arguing are pretty weak.

My point is that ranger's damage came with a sharp price, and I'm not talking gil. So you want to sleep bolt that mob, he'll hit 100 TP before you do. Ranger will not evade any mob EP or higher, ever. Ranger has no defense or hp.

Summoner can do a nice burst of damage without taking on the hate from it, but can only do it once per minute.

Black Mage can do some serious damage but is limited by mp, and has terrible accuracy outside MB on high level mobs. They also have paper defense if they pull hate.

This is called balance. Jobs have strengths, and weaknesses. They are different. Some jobs are better at some things than others. When one job excels at something, you don't knock it down 5 pegs. If it's too good at one thing, adjust that one thing, don't nerf the whole job.

Well, not really sure if the original info is legit or not, guess we'll just have to wait and see. But if it is true, i cant understand how anyone can say they didnt see it coming.

Pre-rng nerf, everyone was always arguing about which was greater, rng or blm. BLMS would parse on kirin @~10k-20k dmg total or so, rngs would parse @~20k to sometimes as much as 40k. Then along came the nerf-bat and bam rngs are 50% less effective (thats a real percent, 50% less dmg from ideal range, 50% less accurate from Any range, flat off the top that ignores All other factors). Meanwhile their old competition the blms continued to be totally unaffected. Thus the big red "NERF ME" bullseye.

What i find particularly funny is certain blms arguments that they shouldnt be nerfed, and their reasoning. Its more or less what all the rngs said when the rng nerf was brought about: "good luck killing kirin, everything gonna take 10x longer now, why should I be nerfed when se designed the job this way".
Guys, it didnt work for the rngs, its not gonna work for you. Rng got nerfed, everyone got more blms. Now if blm gets nerfed, everyone gonna get more smn and sam. Its never going to end, it'll just be a rotating "star player" slot, till they nerf that job. And Odon, the same people that "were killing Kirin for" are also the people that told the rngs to get over themselves, so best of luck finding a sympathetic ear. If theyre not a blm, theyre secretly smiling. I'll bet the rngs most of all, since theyve been told to stfu and quit whining for months now. And who can blame them.

But anyway, Nerf-bat ahoy, more ppl gonna lvl war and mnk and smn now. Like we needed that....then war and monk next on the nerf list..... Sooner or later everyones gonna end up a drg..... pentathrust cannon ftw -.-

If there IS a blm nerf, ill be sorry to see it, but i cant say i didnt see it coming. But dont expect to hear anything on these boards other than "quit whining", as weve seen nothing but that in the past.

Usually followed in-game by: "wtf this rng cant hit shit!" "i have over 120 raccy.... -.-" "dude wtf you need better gear"

I knew I wasn't the only one noticing that! Of course, they've got a variation, because at least the RNGs usually got gear like Osode from the stuff they were killing. BLMs get to complain about killing stuff for no personal gain, too. Amazing thought, helping people on a regular basis... o_o-b

I help people all the time. I go as w/e job my ls needs me to go as. they want me as pld, i go as pld, they want me as blm, i go as blm.

Yes, one of my points has been that it probably will take longer for ls' to kill kirin (and i still stand by that). Is this a good thing? I would say absolutely not. More people waiting in line to fight kirin. Everyone already complains that it is crowded up there. Lets just slow down the kirin fight some more!

However, this isnt my main point. My main arguement is against those that cry about DM and how unfair it is that they cant kill the AA quickly. The reply's basically come down to, if no one else can do it, why should blm be able to. People need to quit worrying about what blm can do, and worry about w/e job u are playing can do.

And to reiterate, I did DM as a pld (omg, wth), but I am arguing anti-nerf b/c quite frankly its total bs to make a job weaker b/c other people are bitching about it. Quit being so jealous and do something constructive with your time, such as setting up a non manaburn pt. (This doesnt go out to anyone in particular, just in general)

Basically, NOTHING is going to change for melee if blm get nerfed. You will still have to set up the same party that u would if blm werent nerfed.

well... all of this talk brings up an important point... one that we cannot ignore... for it is amazing because up until now, i'd never even HEARD of it happening... Peregrine was right!>_>;;

Did anyone consider that longer kirins could also be an intention of SE? They want endgame to be a time sink, not just show up kill in 30 minutes and you're done. Ullikummi is a huge bottle neck, someone said they increased his spawn time to enhance that bottleneck; so why not make the final sky fight take a little longer as a method to increase the time sink?

He quoted an interview from SE. I said it earlier, the correct title of this thread is "Looks like Square-Enix is doing what they said they would, amazing"

Mages might not get much in sky, but considering that mages always have 50% less attendance i dont give a damn if they dont get anything. If mages were to have the same attendance as melee do you realize how much farther endgame LS could progress in much less time.

Grieve I love you man...Its the same damn thing as when they nerfed ranger... No one wants to admit it but if they nerf BLM hard Kirins are gonna take longer and people will switch to SMN... Just like the rng nerf when everyone flocked to BLM. Just Play a job because you like it...

And I dont want to see any BLM bitching about getting nerfed because most melee never get to even fuckin engage Kirin... BLMs are in main alliance every fight...

Nerf WS damage on HNM? Thief, sam, Ranger, Bst, shit most the jobs hit HNM for small amounts of damage, and much less frequent then BLM Cast....

Last of all I dont want them to nerf BLM... BLM job in this game is to deal damage... pretty much all they do... Ranger job in this game is to deal damage and well they arent that great anymore...

That depends on the player, not the job. There are mages who have good attendance rates in sky. That kind of attitude is like hating drg's based on the tp nerf.

no i don't >_> i'm sorry, i'm reading during class and didnt get to click the link
The link is something Ikari already said, and he's emphasising on something I said at the beginning of the thread. Peregrine didn't predict a damn thing, he just repeated what was in an old interview with SE, where they said they were planning to nerf black mages. That's like watching an old gameshow/sports event and "predicting" the results; the OP is giving him credit for being able to read and cut + paste.

This is post #378. That link goes to post #370 of this same thread.

That is all.

Sirelrohir, sorry if you took that personally, maybe i wasnt being too clear; it happens sometimes. Basically the gist of what i was saying was that Yes, it will take longer to do everything with less effective blms, we all know this.

My point was that this is not new, it was the same way with rng nerf. The rngs came on saying exactly what you're saying, as their output at the time was Even greater than a BLMs is currently on things like gods/hnms etc. Its just that noone seemed to care, too blinded by jealousy or inferiority complexes or just plain bored from sitting out kirins, and who can blame them. 6 rngs 6 blm tank pt, theres a kirin ally guaranteed to drop the big chicken in less than 30 min in the old days. 40 min if theres no CFH ally. And everyone that wasnt a blm or rng were naturally upset and thus turned a deaf ear to the rngs lamentations, replying (in some cases to rngs In Their Own Sky Shells) to quit whining and deal with it.

All im saying is that yes, it'll be a huge hit to the efficiency of certain endgame activities, but blms (many of whom told the rngs to stfu) should in no way expect anyone to really care. Why would they care about blm nerf? Rngs did More dmg and they were all gloating about rng nerf. Clearly the mellees in general want desperately to chase Kirin around for 2 hrs whacking at him for 2 dmg. We determined this last time. That apparently is more Fun to everyone. Were these mobs damageable by Normal means, ie straight tank and mellee sc dd, then it probably wouldnt have even become an issue. But what can you say, SE designs these mobs that are all but immune to normal attks, then they nerf king hell out of the 2 or 3 jobs that can actually hurt them. Obviously, 3 hr kirins ARE what SE wants. Not a challenge that would be fun, but a long arduous endurance contest designed to suck your souls out through your eyeballs. Like Dynamis!

To sum up: SE is increasing the shelf life of its product under the guise of pleasing a small majority of its customer base. Piss off 20% of the server, Satisfy 80%. And make us allllllll stay in sky a year longer. Its good marketing sense.

Our LSs highest contributor (by a huge 250 hours, no less) is a BRD/WHM/BLM...
