Byrnie is optimal if you have other accuracy gear for TP gear only. If you do have enough accuracy gear in other places, you're probably missing out on a spot you could be putting Haste+ or other attack+.
Haubergeon is ALWAYS better for WS.

I wouldn't complain if I saw someone using Byrnie to tp on T-VT mobs, and swapping in a Hauby for ws...but you're not gonna find many people doing that.

As far as why Byrnie+1 would be greater then Haub+1 I wouldn't understand that at all...I'd rather wear an NQ Haubergeon then a Byrnie+1 for any DD job that uses STR as WS modifiers

Bear with me I havent played the game in about 8-9 months let alone had a converstaion about gear.

But doesnt the Byrnie +1 have 5 STR and 25 attk? thus making it better then a NQ hauby (+5STR and +10attk) for WS if you are ok on ACC? Especially for say a DRK/THF using SS or maybe a WAR/THF using GA? Very specific scenarios (rare) I know.

I also remember myself parsing better in attack gear and using sushi as a DRK on IT mobs. I remember parsing the differences of myself with a haub and myself with a byrnie and after that testing session I sold the byrnie.

Hauby and byrnie aren't too much of a difference to make someone gimp in all honesty.Gimp is a pretty shitty word.And in the end seriously if you are really being so careful about stuff then don't forget that someone can make fun of the stats you lose just cuz u are another race (The difference can be pretty ugly sometimes).It's sometimes personal preference considering how much stats actually upgrade stuff in FFXI.But back in the day i compared both hauby and byrnie+1 and liked byrnie more.In burns with sushi and bard its really hard to miss.
Unless ofcourse you have done testing on around 1k mobs with same buffs and no debuffs and averaged out results and put them into a presentable form =).And money isn't always easy to make so sometimes people tend to use scorpion harness even on their DD job, so they can tank with it as well.Which is not bad at all.In all honesty, if you kill 2 or 3 mobs less per hr it's not going to be a big deal,just learn to have fun with the game.And if you have a problem with that then make a static, so you only get the stats and job combos that you yourself, prefer.

And who knows what was considered elite gear back then. I can imagine this being far back enough he may not have had rajas, no swiftbelt, etc. The gear now probably should bring about more parsing.

I couldn't think of a single situation where Byrnie > Hauby for war. Tanking should be done in AF, I guess if they don't have Lorica then Byrnie would do good.

Seriously, if you don't have respect for others...then you are not going to get respect yourself. Respect for others includes but is not limited to "lvling and leave", not doing your job even remotly close and the other stupid shit you find a way to piss others off with. I will never forget you coming to my party as rdm/nin. You wouldn't cast any cures, refresh, debuffs or even buffs. You acted like you didn't even have magic. I mean what the fuck of a use is rdm if they don't cast magic!!! That is almost worse than a tank not voking!! Then when you finally got your lvl, you just leave...no warning...no explanation. That my son makes you a loser, one of the biggest I know. That means a lot seeing I have been in FFXI since retail in the US and have seen all of "your kin" in action.
