"lost full screen" error help please

I have a friend that has a ATI radeon 9550 video card that is trying to get her game working again. She says it keeps crashing and saying "lost full screen mode" or whatever. does anyone know what the issue could be.

I asked her to check drivers and they are the most current, she tried it with and without a windower and still gets the same answer. any ideas?
 
may want to check on that ..... we put a video card in my pc a year ago and that is what happened to me i was mad and threatened my husband to throw the computer out and he started messing with it and BAM! i was on , he turned off the firewall lol all that and i was rdy to toss it lol
 
Could it be some other program running in the background?

For example, when my old PDA synched on it's own (at exactly midnight) this used to happen to me. Got a new PDA and it's not happened since. What else has she got running?

i'm not very good with these computer questions lol, i have no idea honestly. As far as i know everything is the same as it was befor when she stopped playing and her vid card got tanked. Now she got a new one but it lets her in the game for a like a min and then kicks her saying full screen mode crashed.
 
Sure sounds like she's got something else running that's accessing the internet.
If I were her, I'd do a ctrl+alt+delete and look at what's going on in her task manager or running programs, or whatever it's called on the Windows version she's running.

P.S. Has she done any spyware/malware scans? http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ Always kept my system clean and safe. Some adware can run and cause trouble without you ever even knowing it's there.

ok, i'll have her do that. i'm at work atm oh /joy time to get off now YEA for me wOOt

anways, anymore advice is welcomed if anyone else knows what it might be. kthxby
