I was just wondering if anyone from here was planning on playing the game or or is in the beta right now. I myself just got my beta to start working today so I'm planning on giving it a run to see what the systems's like and see if I like it. I've always been a bid Tolkien fan and I'm kinda hoping the game is like the books.

I have 2 friends that have been playing on the Beta version, but I was told that the sign ups were done months ago and it wasn't possible to join. How did you get access?

I was invited to the stress test and was given a beta account after that. Suffice it to say it wasn't bad but it was missing something. I guess it didn't really offer anything that compelled me to continue playing.

Ditto, I did like the look of the game (just a little better than WoW though, definetly nothing on vanguard) and the battle system is pretty cool. Crafting was interesting but no better than anything else, basically just WoW +1.

Limited races and class choices though, and nothing new to any of them.

The best thing about the game is that you can actually play instruments and others can hear what your hitting. 1-7 are notes and ctrl and shift change pitch.

Seems like a solid game but, its an average MMO in a sea of them.

I'm in LOTRO and Grenado Espada, I played the Stress Test for a weekend, and got into the Beta after, as well. My Hunter is only level 14, people were more helpful during the Stress Test.

The game itself is really great. Its got a great quest system the only thing is the graphics aren't the best (i have to play on very low setting) and it puts so much stress on my laptop i usually lag when anyone else is on my screen.

I'm still undecided as to whether I'll play it once I ahve to pay or not, but I do think its worth the time if you an get in Beta.

i was invited to the stress test aswell for this weekend and was wondering what server some of you guys were gonna be on jsut to play with a few familiar faces.

I'm on Brandywine right now, however its not like FFXI where you have to stay on the same server. In fact its much like WoW in server choices, you can have multiple char's on multiple servers. I personally dont know the limit because I only have one character as of now.

Name: Milgard (yeah yeah its a comonly used name.... sue me)

where can I join the beta?

u suck lol milgard is not a common name, u might be thinking of midgard lol.

/point I GOTZ A FANBOYYYYYY lol.

Trystan on the Landroval server if anyone is interested in running around checking shit out. i checked out a crazy area today with 18+ mobs and spent the whole time dodgeing aggros. it was fun.

The guy at GameStop gave me a beta copy yesterday. I[m curious to find out if anyone is gonna go for the $10/month or $199/lifetime plan or just quit at the end of the month.

Also, if I wasn't necessarily into or familiar with the movies/novels will I be entirely lost in the game and hate it? lol

Supposedly official release date is 4/27/07

So, any word on how the game is? I've been hearing nothing but good reviews, but a lot of "Well, it's not quite as good as WoW" o_O

Well, it's not quite as good as WoW...

No seriously. I was kinda disappointed in both this and vanguard, moreso the latter but that's another topic. Basicly you're looking at a WoW clone, and i made myself ok with that. WoW does alot right, i'm sure there's subtle changes here and there and the graphics look as wonderful as you'd expect.

At base you're paying for the same playing experience you can find substantiated and almost kink-free elsewhere (not a slam but it's a new game, herro bugs and launch problems). Personally i'd play and pay for it as i'm a fan of the series, much like FFXI was presented: You will buy this, it's Lord of The Rings. It doesn't look like it will disappoint at all, but i wouldn't expect much in the way of innovation.

... In my opinion. <.<

There's a bit of in-game play footage mucking about youtube worth checking out if you're looking for something a little more hands on in the way of how i arrived at these comments for both games.

Vanguard's promotionals had my jaw on the floor, the in-game footage ..... not so much. LOTRO actually looked more like it was worth the time and money to me.
