I just wanna take this time to say goodbye to my many friends, well our many friends thats as of recently are no longer with us ;_; With EQ2 and WoW and of course the dreaded REAL LIFE, a number of our great frieds have left us... Hyori you will always be missed, Geoz, hey what can i say your were the whm of the day, Jonas your Drg was one of a kind, Slacker the great taru may have finally fallen, Shinn, a post way late but never to late. yes there are many more i did not mention these are just a few, if you liked them or not, it does not matter, i just want to bid them a farewell and best of luck with what the future holds for them. I did not make this post to rant, or to be used to put someone down. I am makeing this post to honor the memory of those we came to know and trust as friends. When i started this game, never would i have thought it could ever get emotional, a game is a game. But is has become so much more to me, and now that people are leaving us, we may never hear from them again. So please use this topic post to remeber somone special, and to get you to think and tell someone that is still playing they are your friend and think about how much this game has influenced or changed your life..

Sorry for the Emotional post but we don't see enough of them, everything is always so negative about some noob ect ect. Thanks for reading and for those of you who still play see you i the game

Dragoth 55mnk LS HotangleFire , championsof vannadeil and (the late) Drgnash

/salute to all of DrgnAsh, I wasn't in it half as long as everyone else but it was the greatest LS of it's time, without a doubt.

it hurts! i hate WoW...... :(

i dont have anymore friends left in FFXI XD

Slacker was never my favorite guy simply because he always had some sort of angst towards me that I never understood, but he and Hazell were the leader of my very first LS "TheSlackers" back when the game first came out... was fun learning the games ropes with ya.

/Salute DrgAsh
Sad to see them go....

/poke!
What am I? Chopped Liver?

Today's noob is tomorrow's legend?

Not all noobs are created equal, in that some may never become much of anything, but fresh blood will eventually rise to the top.

SE designed the game to hold interest over a long period of time, and the involvement needed to accomplish most everything in the game is what keeps it interesting and potent. It seems that other games may be better or worse at this or that, but it seems that FFXI is the more rewarding and gratifying game in the end.

Things may seem more negative today, but I think it's mostly because the forums are very active now...More so than a year to a year and a half ago. It seems more negative because there are more able communication vehicles in place. I think 90% of the people that bother taking a job to 75, and achieving rank and uber items, etc are in the same boat...These people tend to care about the community and the game. It's the people that put themselves first in every scenario that make some experiences unpleasant. But how is that different from RL or any other game?

i understand new games are cool but its just stupid to start all over in my point of view.

i dont know, i guess some people get bored, but it seems dumb to throw away all that time and effort to not have achieved everything possible.

Well as far as people quitting and it seeming dumb to write off all the time people spend playing, isn't it in the end up to them to decide whether or not the time they spend on a game is worth the monthly fee?

If it's still fun, keep playing, if it's losing its appeal cash in your cards and remember the good times before you begin to dislike the game. It's as simple as that.

I'd like to say a formal goodbye to my old static.
(most are gone, only Fairiebear remains)

the fallen:

Mym(gone)
Elfhelm(no sign of life, gone I think)
Dinky(gone)
Kalanin(rumored to be quitting)
Fairiebear(still in the game)

Thankfully Dinky is IRL friend of mine for a long time so I will only be
missing him in-game. It really is strange. Computer-related friendships
are interesting. I used to play America's Army until FFXI consumed me.
I got kicked out of this clan www.usacompany.org because I didn't show
up much. Of course they invited me back whenever I can get around to
playing again.

I know it will happen when I am through with this game (a year or more
away? dunno.) All I know is with all the game-hoping I try to keep the
same moniker so people can still find me.

I am almost always: Marduk73
This game I signed up as Marduk on a diff server and
it wouldn't let me in so I'm Duffman here.

I'm still playing, just saying.

I'm new to the game, and I not only wanted to compliment you on your choice of topics, but also to assure you that while good friends are leaving, many more of us are just starting out waiting for someone to help us out and befriend us.

Here is to fallen warriors of the past, and the newbs that are the future.

^^ welcome to the game. Ever need help?
/tell Duffman I need new friends since old ones leaving.

/check my sig! I have tons more to do in this game. I'm only
really starting out myself.

Thank you all for takeing this somewhat to heart. Though my posts could have gone on for a long time it didn't simple and provocative and sparky, what is left of drgnash is still scattered about in Ultima Bloodoflegends Hotanggelfire are a few we migrated to, we just never soo you, and is ventrillo still upi might have to stop by, and oh yea /salut to pukerat he offically deleted kari gave me the news. all we can do pick up the peices and continue on and one more thing........ invite my damn mnk so i can get off of lvl 55 XD lol see ya;ll in the gmae and thanks for the posts

I've had a few friends come and go, but none as good as my friend Scizofrenic. I just said a few days ago that I missed him in-game. I talk to him on AIM though, so at least he's not gone for good.

 I've only been playing since August and few of my good friends have left. It's hard because most of the people had been with me since I was an uber noob.

Gokumhz- My very best friend in game...left for WoW
Runekane - Wonderful creator of BigFun ls...also gone to WoW.

And my first real ls, Theforgottensouls the one I did things with and kept on all the time, is now an empty shell since the leader Brigaide has yet to return in months. Fortunatly most of the members moved with me to my new ls, but nonetheless it's different.
