I have both, and I just cannot decide which would be better. Does anyone have any tests or anything to backup using the Breeze Gorget over Love Torque (for Dancing Edge and Shark Bite, of course).

My main concern is for Dancing Edge, so here's a link to the two gear sets in question for DE.
(Keep in mind merits. 2/2 DEX 2/3 STR atm, as well as 5/5 Triple and 8/8 Dagger. Nothing else would effect the outcome of ws so not posting that here)

My Heca WS setup:

http://ffxigear.com/?ref=3327

STR:110,DEX:120 with Omlette
STR:111,DEX:118 with Kabob (typical food used on birds)

Using Dragon Harness (this is the main set I'd contemplate using Breeze Gorget on):

http://ffxigear.com/?ref=3333

STR:102,DEX:122 with Omlette
STR:102,DEX:120 with Kabob (typical food used on birds)

I have achieved some great numbers with my first setup there, highest being 2607 on Greater Collibri. But I always feel like I can do better. There's quite a couple of very rare/expensive things I could add, but at this point I'm wondering if Breeze or Love would be better.

The other big concern would be dropping below 120 or so, DEX. If I use Breeze on either set, it would do that to me. Would the loss in dex be worth the change to Breeze? I more than likley will be trying it both next time I merit with my lsmates, and if I get no responses I'll be sure to post what I find.

(btw, I hate mithras have a 80dex base at 75.)

Love torque is better because gorgets only boosts the dmg of the first hit (+0.1 ftp), while its accuracy bonus affects all hits; it's a general fact actually that pcc or torques are better for multi-hits ws, for the same reason.

Love torque will boost all hits damage wise and accuracy wise. It will give you either 8 or 9 acc, always 7 attack, plus the secondary mods of dex. Once you have it, you full time it, unless you get an ancient torque and accuracy is really needed.

Also since you have the X's you should stick to evisceration, it does much more damage than dancing edge once you get a decent about of dex; especialy on colibris, you get 24% crit rates (= cap) guarranted on them with 120dex ( which means at least one critical hit ~70% of the time in the last 4 hits in evisc, in adition to the first hit which is a crit if you SA it). From memory, a dagger crit does 2.2 * the damage of a normal hit (colibris).

Thanks for the imput. I am kind of suprised about Evisceration though. I do have it and have tried it, but Dancing Edge almost always does better. The only time does not is when I am having to solo WS (not Sneak or Trick Attack applied - like when I'm farming). I'll play around with it more, then.

Thanks!

Yeah... the Love Torque for what mdk said. Gorgets are mainly for single hit WS.

I noticed a huge boost in my eviscerations once I got Xs, enkidus subligar, love torque, hecatomb cap and skadi's cuirie (boosted my dex quite a bit).

That and the fact I can always close darkness with a sam for double dmg... makes it my favourite ws.

For gorgets I thought its been proven its acc +10 for all hits in a WS in addition to the first hit bonus.

yes so basically, gorget are a pcc+1 for WS, so never a bad choice. Love torque is special though since dex gives acc as well.

For a DRG, A+ skill and full merited, Love gives exactly 7 acc from 7 skill ( 92*0.9=82.x and 99*0.9=89.x) 7 attack and 3 or 4 acc from dex, so love is stricly better than pcc and gorget. For thf its a bit less accuracy ( 1 or 2 less) but more attack and dex is a ws mod so it will be better than a gorget.

Some torques might be inferior for some multi hit ws actually when I think about it, the ninja one for example, im sure gorget it better. But love torque is special. The other torques give only 6-7 acc and generally the +5 stat does nothing, except justice and love ( dex affects accuracy and mods in penta and dagger WS). But peopel say that pcc is better than justice for tp, and anyway gorget is better for sam on ws, not sure about guilottine.

Sorry im trolling thief forum and not actually being one. I cant speak to the OP, however I can speak to this, from a DRK perspective. On weather PCC VS J.torque is better for TP. A fully merited Abyssal earring wearing DRK will do better with J.Torque because it breaks the next dmg tier at 300 skill. Where anyone else will probably be better off with PCC, unless of course accuracy isnt an issue.

ok didn't know that;p But everyone says its not good to melee with on sam.

It's by far the best on cap accuracy. I mean STR5, attack7 (acc7 but this would be irrelevant). You won't cap fSTR on anyhting endgame, salvage for instance, since mobs are higher than even match and higher level on later floors. STR5 would then be one more base damage and 3-4 attack, so you get 1.5% more damage and whatever 10 attack would give. That's pretty hard to beat.

Even Capped Crit and X's, my Evis rarely if ever Out damages my Dancing Edges.

What's your gear settup for both if you don't mind me asking. (Directed at MDK)

Yeah, I can barely get evisceration to do better than Dancing Edge either. Important to note though, that it usually does if I can't SA or TA the WS.

Would be curious to see your setup too, Mdk

Might want to think about the other factor as in what race you are. Mithra's have the lowest Chr vs Taru and hume who have rather high Chr.

Which is why I said mainly. I already knew that.
Wish I could throw more info on the WS but i'm no THF. Was just supporting what mdk said.

only use it on colibris and mobs in salvage. For stonger things DE is better. Evis is good if you know you'll have high crit rates. also evisc closes darkness with sams.

I always had an issue with the race factor in this game.. granted starting stats are different among the different races (not talking mp/hp but simply str/dex/chr etc). What I always wanted to know was, at level 75 is there a larger difference in base stats than at level 1 or is the difference in base stats between the races a constant figure? For instance, just making these numbers up, if there is a 4 point AGI difference at level 1 between a galka and a mithra, at 75 is there still a 4 point difference or does the gap widen over the course of 75 levels? If the gap gets bigger I'd understand the whole race argument a bit better, but arguing over a few points doesn't seem that big a deal esp. with the gear choices out there.

That formula calculator is way wrong, although I wish it was right. THF/NIN at 75 on a taru does not have 80 dex, it's 72. And mithra doesn't have 96 dex at 75, although I'm sure they'd like that too.

This is from ffxiwiki.
Breakdown of Level 1 and 75 Agility Stats by Race Sorted Highest to LowestBased off Ranger agility score

Mithra: 9 ; 78

Tarutaru: 9 ; 76

Hume: 8 ; 73

Galka: 8 ; 70

Elvaan: 7 ; 67

Level 1 stats taken from official FFXI strategy Guide, Spring 2004 version: does not include stat bonuses from sub jobs.

Level 75 stats gathered from a random sampling of level 75 RNG that were online at the time. Level 75 stats include bonuses from NIN support job. (NIN sub adds 10 AGI to all races for those wanting to know the base.)

So yeah, the stat gap gets bigger but not big enough that a certain race should never play a cartain job.. though.. 78 to 67 is a big jump but like you said gear can make up for it easily.

The DEX stats would be more interesting. I don't know of too many THFs who actually care that much about AGI. (Meaning, a THF who would get AGI over STR or DEX on anything but purely soloing TA)

Mithra DEX is 80
Taru DEX is 74 (Second Highest)

Pretty significant difference :(
