Well, officially started doing this the past weekend. I've been interested to take up this task for a while, but i thought i'd might as well buckle down and get started. I plan on being a uber fisherman eventually, and i have alchemy and cooking high enough to make fishing worthwhile. but then theres this quest i have to go through... lol. its very intimidating. come by and fish with me if ya want sometime ^^ i can be found in port sandy on weekends (most of the time =p) and hell, if u wanna just hang out with me and catch some fish, bring a rod and i'll make ya some bait =p.

200 (or so) carp down

9,800 to go.

edit: imma go to windy, my friend said theres like nothing but moaties there =p gunna hafta travel to turn em in, but oh well.

Good luck. This is one of the hardest quests endurance-wise in the game. If you need some friendly advice on fishing or getting through the quest, feel free to ask.

well cant really get advice for this quest, other than stick with it =p. the caarp are easy enough to fish up.. but damn 10,000 lol.

Oh i thought of something. What are the best rods for moaties? I've tried carbon, composite, and yew. Yew seems to wrok the best so far for *specifically* getting carp, but any other fish are too heavy and results in alotta breaks =p.

just by them 10,000 fishies ;D

lmao, hold on. lets do some math.

current last sale of fishies i saw: 12k a stack
current need to turn in: 9,800 but lets round up to 10,000 for the hell of it
(grabs a calculator)

10,000 / 12 = 833.33 stacks of carp, round up to 834, who sells single carp anyways <_<

834 x 12,000 = 10,008,000

enough said T_T

I could never bring myself to do this, seeing as how I casualy play this game. I'd rather take my 10k a stack and be happy.

Good Luck!!!

The Lu Shang quest is soooo worth it if you plan to take fishing to high levels. The little ponds in Rolanberry Fields are a lot better than Port Sandy if you only want to catch moats with Insect Paste.

Stick with it. I look forward to congratulating you somewhere down the line.

Yup, Yew Rod rocks at Knightswell. Even a 2 year old can fish up moats with it. Just bring 2, sometimes it breaks, but not very often. Plus you can buy it fron sandy from the same NPC that sells little worms. ^^

I bought a Halycon Rod and just loved it. Shouldn't break on any fish near moaties. Personally after hitting 11 I went to Rabao, mostly moats, plus some sandfish to level the fishing. Ended up right around 42 fishing by the time I had my 10k.

FYI: 16 stacks of paste should cover you for the fishing day.

Yeah, Rabao rocks. It was my second home for a long time.

I second the Halcyon. It's the best pre-Lu rod for small fish.

I'm on this quest too, but haven't been to Rabao yet, is it still good after they nerfed the fishing there? May try this place out later.

They never nerfed fishing in Rabao. You're probably thinking of the infamous "Rusty Cap nerf," where they gutted the amount NPCs would pay for Rusty Caps fished up in Rabao. It never affected the moat carp bite rates.

Ah, must have gotten mixed up. Thanks Lu Shang Lothario :P

How hard are sand fish to reel in? I'm trying to level along with getting the Lu rod and have been trying forest carp... which are hard as hell to reel in. I got a skill of 11.2 and been using breakable rods cause in my exp when a rod breaks skill ups seem to have a better chance of happening. And I can fix the rod after it happens. And good luck Demon! Keep us updated on your progress

Forest Carp are a serious plain to reel in. Honestly, I tried forest for a day and quit because they sucked to reel in. I believe sandfish, while they won't land themselves, are not that bad for a 50 cap fish.

heh, i would never have the patience to do that quest...

Good luck:P
