I'm starting to lvl fishing and I like it while I'm lvling i'm considering also doing the quest to get the Lu Shang's rod... If you have this rod how long did it take you? I know I have to get 10,000 B Sardines...

It's 10,000 moat carp for the quest, and it took me a long time because I was fishing moat carp and skilling up at the same time. I eventually changed tactics and dedicated myself to fishing Shall Shells full-time and using the money I made off those to buy the moat carp from the Auction House (back when one stack of Shall Shells would buy 3-4 stacks of moats).

It's a long and time-consuming quest -- moat carp could get to 100k a stack and I'd refuse to catch anymore of the damned things -- but it is sooooooo worth it. As a side benefit, you'll max out your San d'Oria fame trading all of them to the brothers.

There's also a rod that is better I forget the name of it? Do you have that one?

The Ebisu Rod (Rare/Ex) is better than the Lu Shang because it's unbreakable, but the quest is only available by accumulating a few high-level (80-90+) fisherman's guild key items, and even then you'll need the Lu Shang to complete the quest. The time-consuming difficulty of that quest makes the Lu Shang quest look like a silk thread farming run in West Sarutabaruta.

So... I don't have it. But I will. Some day. And then I can safely retire from the game if I have any marbles left.

Edit: Added link to Ebisu Quest walk-through.

Yeah. I want to gun after the ebisu rod too, but I just don't know if it's ever gonna happen. Lu Shangs quest isn't that bad if you're willing to commit to it.

Yea, Lu's quest isn't bad, but nowadays I'm forcing myself to fish all the carp up, which will take a while, considering people are selling them for 20k-30k/stack nowadays ><
